The Only Witness - Traffic Counter Is Key In Solving Fatal Hit and Run

A MetroCount traffic counter was the key to solving a fatal hit and run mystery as presented on Australian Story documentary on February 17 2020.
Well done to the tenacious Police officers, Matt Shaw, Tim Hoffman and Ryan Harmer, who didn't give up on an almost impossible investigation and managed to find the culprit who killed innocent cyclist Dr Martin Pearson.
In the end, it came down to matching the time recorded as the moment of impact from a cycling GPS with the time-stamped, individual axle information from a MetroCount traffic counter down the road.
This provided police with the exact axle configuration of a less common truck which they could then identify using CCTV footage and registration records.
