- www.tedxlausann... Peter is an internationally renowned entrepreneur, scholar, and labor market expert. He is a founder of HR Matching (www.hrmatching....) , a VC-backed tech firm revolutionizing recruiting. In addition to pursuing a PhD, he advises governments on growth, job creation, and entrepreneurial ecosystems. The Entrepreneurs' Ship (www.entrepreneu...) , promotes entrepreneurship among young people where high unemployment rates leave little room for personal development. He is member of WEF Global Shapers and Sandbox. In his presentation, Peter explores the future of the labor market and the role of entrepreneurial ecosystems. The technological revolution not only changed the way we work and live, but who we are. The "Next Generations" are facing the highest youth unemployment rates and at the same time employers have entered a fierce competition for talents. This huge challenge can only be solved by the next generation itself, in re-defining the labor market of the future. Establishing assessable and healthy entrepreneurial ecosystems has to become priority #1 of policymakers and practitioners if we want to ensure that the terminology "Lost Generation" will always remain a piece of history.Peter is an internationally renowned entrepreneur, scholar, and labor market expert. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).
Peter, great points. I agree there's increasingly a very large discrepancy between the skill sets required for the current job market and the skills that people have -- even among those who have graduated college. I think entrepreneurship is definitely a viable option, but I would be interested to know what kind of support these programs provide. While unemployed youth may have a lot of great ideas and energy, it takes a lot of experience to make a successful, scalable business.
@ Eric: Thanks for your comment.
Yes, each ecosystem is unique and it is important to understand a community’s strengths and weaknesses in order to develop a strategic roadmap for the successful creation of effective and efficient entrepreneurial ecosystems. That means, that there is not one single most important index for each ecosystem.
BUT: The cultural component is certainly a big one. If the people have the right attitude, a lot can and will be done!
We fully agree, Karl-Magnus. Small and dynamic companies are a critical driver of the economy and in today's highly competitive environment we need to put in place systematic support mechanisms for these young firms.
Great presentation about an important topic where most governments fail!
Great talk Peter! What an important subject to tackle. Keep up the Entrepreneurship Power!

Thanks, Heba!
We will certainly do so. Same on your end...
Excellent presentation Peter! What would be the most impacting elements of your ecosystem index? Don't you think the importance of these points can have a very different weight depending on the "non-living" organisms in which the living organisms evolve?
Nice one Peter; a brighter future most hold less of the past European structure of a constant mass of giant stale companies and more of these ideas of small scale inovation that you here elegantly present! - Karl-Magnus
Egidio: Por favor, compartilhe o vídeo com seus amigos e colegas para que possamos fazer disso uma prioridade global!
Gosto mesmo disso, e achio que todos devemos olhar para este tema: (des)Emprego Juvenil
