I have not heard anything from Celtic Woman on here in months, but it was very nice to hear something to let us know the group is still as O.K. as they can be like the rest of us in the world through COVID. I REALLY hope the group can tour the U.S. in 2022 again; I saw Celtic Thunder before COVID & was supposed to see Celtic Woman in March of 2021
This is NOT an exaggeration & is how I feel about Celtic Woman now & since COVID started; I have had a VERY rough year-plus now (on top of having to deal with COVID) - literally if it wasn't for Celtic Woman's music on CZcams (& now some of their DVDs & CDs I now own), I do not believe I would have gotten through these almost 2 years of COVID. I have become more depressed than usual over these last almost 2 year, BUT listening to Celtic Woman & watching their DVDs I have now (2 of them now) I have felt like I can just zone in on them, concentrate on them & just forget this COVID world around me for a while & nothing goes wrong when I watch/listen to Celtic Woman's music/concerts

I totally agree with Rebekah! after listening to Chloe from the start, her voice in this song is a delight to the ears, a truly refined interpretation including accompanying music. I forget, on purpose, that it's an ancient song, because Irish music, since I discovered it with the CW, is my absolute favorite, including songs sung in Gaelic, an incredibly evocative language.

In this case the traditional irish song Fáinne Geal an Lae ( Bright Ring of the Sun, referring to sunrise ) was written for a native irish audience in the mid 17th century and was understood by them as a deeply political song not a love song. English translations 3 centuries later, to suit a modern audience, have with some careful (mis)translations of a few sections of the song turned it into a wonderful sad love song, Dawning of the Day. The same is true of other CW songs. Mo Ghile Mear for instance is sung by CW as a rousing cheerful song. But the traditional irish song ( I'm simplifying here ) is a sad lament for Bonnie Prince Charlie and the failure of the Jacobite rebellion against the english in 1745. Brendan Graham when he rewrote the song for CW kept the original tune and chorous but rewrote the verses for a modern audience. It's always interesting to see an old song evolve to become relevant to new audiences. By the way, thanks for the reply. At least you read my comment ;-)

This is a treasure trove of music which highlights how important it is for there to be a strong conservative presence in a country to ensure that the culture is protected and not diluted. I first saw this in Dublin circa 1980 as a visitor to a Republican pub. The passion and the music was unforgettable which is the reason why I always wanted the Island of Ireland to be reunited.
