- In my opinion, this is an example, to me, of how irritating leaving John Blackman's mike on was. That laughing in the background is him. Was never a fan of how Hey Hey did things like that to performances.
Many moons ago I transferred a whole bunch of VHS on to disc. I thought that since this is a music based channel and that stuff was just languishing there, I thought I would put that footage on this one.
Oh wow, I never realized how gorgeous she was. Her video clips do her no justice in her clothing or make-up OR the attempt at dancing, but she looks at her most natural here and looks stunning

Yeah, "strine" got popular in later years. Think The Waifs and Missy Higgins, although John "Cobber, Digger, Sport" Williamson probably started the gimmick.
I agree with you about John Blackman .I think he loved the sound of ihis own voice. Always talking when the guests were performing.
Great voice, her live performance sounds exactly like recorded track. Back when you needed talent to be a performing artist.
That's because they're playing the recorded song in the background. Most "top-of-the-pops"-type shows worked like this.

I thought she might be lip-synching. Well, she lip-synched pretty well; I could have been persuaded that I was wrong..
It's mimed. You've got two guitar sounds for a start and only one guitar player. You've got her vocals harmonising, overdubbing herself and there's only her. You got no guitar leads and no remote pickups. Plus bass and guitar are dancing around like dickheads which only very few experienced musos can pull off. And the performance was more than likely pre-recorded and then just slotted into the show. I know, I've been in the business....it's mainly fake, folks....
@@mnfowler1 Most performers who have sung their songs hundreds of times can almost always lip synch really well. Hell, I can even lip synch to my favourite songs only after a few dozen listens.
