I paint wargaming minis and have joint issues in my wrists. I bought a Four E's vortex mixer (about 80 GBP) for general mixing while painting and this one to use on paints that have sat for a while and settled. Having this one means I can leave it running on a settled paint without the pain. To solve the problem of keeping it still; I removed the utterly useless suckers from the bottom (it doesn't help that they fit so loosely into the mixer itself) and used some 3M velcro tape to hold it down on my A2 size Redgrass Games cutting mat (The velcro patch was basically sized to fit just inside the four holes left by the suckers). This way it's nice and secure when I'm using it but I can also take it off and put it in the drawer when not.

I have been looking to get a shaker, but until recently I was seen ones for $100 and up. This is a viable option if it lasts. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for sharing! I wondered how well that product would work and would it hold a Createx bottle. I just ordered one.

What size tip are you spraying the metallics out of ? Im having trouble getting a even coat with the createx metallics. It suggests a .5, but my brush is a .3, I really didnt want to spend the money on a whole new brush just to spray a metallic. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Have you tried thinning the createx metallic paints with 4011 reducer?

I just do the pvc and drill thing.. cost a few cents and a few minutes. Chang out the pvc size and i shake rattle cans too.

If you already have a sawzall, rubber band the paint to it and go to town. With a larger blade you can do larger ones like spray paint cans which is super useful.

Do you think it helps to put small stainless ball it bottles for better mixing

    • @BakerBuilds

I think it does! Something to move around inside.

It might be good for thinning acrylic paint for spraying.

For sure! More confident in the paint actually being mixed with this 👍

I have severe Osteoarthritis and shaking bottles either Paint or Vape Juice really hurts my wrists, elbows and shoulders which have already been replaced. A paint agitator would be SOOOOOOO handy. To help mix my paints I add STAINLESS STEEL NUTS.

Don't get this one, get a vortex mixer, the $90 one. This is actual trash. I ordered it last week and already returned it. If the paint you're using has settled, this thing is completely useless, will not mix up the paint

  • @shutterfish

that shade of green is the same shade that hospitals painted all the walls with back in the 70s. And it's very close to the lime greens that army females wore in the 80s

You mixed with your hands for 30 seconds and then put it into the machine to mix, what’s the point? if everything is already mixed by hand

I'm just lazy, don't wanna shake my paints, reason enough to have one. I usually put 2 steel bearings in all my paints no matter which kind of paint. (the steel balls are super easy to clean to be used again). I have one of those tit shaped shakers, and 20 secs on that all my paints are ready for use. And it's a gadget right, gadgets are fun :)

  • @CaptainBax

@@BakerBuilds Yeh I'm sure you could probably get a year out it but when it does eventually break down, I would suggest a Vortex Paint Mixer. You can pick these up second hand at a reason price and they work much better at mixing your paints. Here a link to what I'm suggesting - czcams.com/video/WdH8t2dBL4o/video.html

This thing is absolute trash. Another YT'er recommended this as opposed to the $90+ vortex mixers. This one does absolutely nothing. I use Acrylic paints, and am currently using Tamiya paints. left a bottle on this for over a minute and nothing. None of the metallic mixed in. Don't waist your money and spend a little more on the vortex mixer, the pricier one, the cheaper one is just as bad as this one is. Seriously don't waste your money on this PoS
