The average child in the west is fine. Only 1 in 6 American children are overweight. Most US kids are involved in some type of activity -- whether sports, arts, hobbies, martial arts, etc. Being active as a pre-teen isn't the exception, it's the rule. Yes, the 1 in 6 is well up from the 2000s or 1980s, due to a number of factors. These kids likely aren't on any special diets and I doubt she is off social media and he doesn't play video games -- they are simply so young and active they can burn even junk food off.
