Rondo is probably more respected by nba fans than he realizes.
What about ncaa fans?
@@troll-fx2zcwhat about them???? They’re irrelevant as usual lol tf you think
@@kevinconroy6606 I think getting respect from ncaa fans is way better
@@troll-fx2zcyou gotta explain this
@@frozenpizza5242lmaooo I don’t watch the ncaa or care about it but where did you get that description of ncaa fans haha
That bulls team got me a lot of respect for Rondo as a laker fan.
There were reports of a divide in the locker room between the young players and Jimmy Butler/DWade, and Rondo took the side of the young players and vehemently defended them and their growth to the two vets. That level of leadership is VITAL to a functioning team
Who was the young guys on that team ?
Which is funny for Jimmy to split himself apart from the younger guys and Rondo taking the younger guys side when you consider Jimmy was only 27 and is younger than Rondo.
Wow, you're a lakers fan
@@disispeterjust looked it up, most notable are probably Michael Carter-Williams, Bobby Portis, Nikola Mirotic, and Cameron Payne
I think Wade was there just to recruit Jimmy and didn't care about no leadership.
Before Rondo got hurt in Chicago the Celtics could not beat them no answer went up 2-0 but soon as Rondo got hurt the Celtics went 4-0 to win the series 4-2.
Yeah that series wasn’t close when he played what happened what he broke his hand didn’t he or something like that
@@shadbreezy94yes i remember this vividly… Rondo was balling like it was 08
@@shadbreezy94im pretty sure it was his hand.
Iirc rondo play game 3 I watch the whole series and I think they have lead up until rondo out from finger injury if I'm not wrong I just know watching them that team doesn't play good with no leader
Idc if I’m about to rehear all these clips again when the full episode drops. Rondo drops gems.
Bro the full episode already dropped yesterday 😂
He was a true maestro in his prime.. Man I miss Rondo and D Wade on the Bulls.
100% agree! The Celtics were going to lose that series, had Rondo not gotten hurt. The Bulls beat them, in their own gym, the 1st 2 games. Rondo was cookin' them! But, the Bulls couldn't win another game, as soon as he was hurt.
Exactly and remember when Rondo went to New Orleans and they went and swept that Portland team and they beat Portland both home games 1 and 2
Bad coaching. Benching key players, not having good chemistry, etc is all on the HC being incompetent
As a Celtics fan rondo is still one of my all time favorite players. If Tatum and brown could get a point guard like rondo they could reach their ceiling. Man had handles in his younger days too.
Unknowingly to outsiders looking in, he was glue for the teams. Especially his first seasons with Boston and the Big 3, he was the PG they needed. Seeing the statline of 10+ assists was normal lol
He was a true maestro in his prime.
Injuries are part of it all. Especially considering their age and underperformance during the season.
Back then the league was stacked with ultra elite point guards. Rondo, CP3, Derrick Rose were the absolute best and peaking at the same time. You could even argue that D-Williams, Westbrook, Kyrie and Steph were in that mix but they were young upcoming monsters. Rondo might be the last pure playmaker
Lmaooooo 2016-2017
Don't sleep on John Wall...injuries though.
Tony Parker Damn he does not get any respect
@@Mad_Intalect yea John Wall was up there for a short time
@@damienpenicaud2256 No doubt he was good but not on the same level as those mentioned
Any bulls fan could’ve seen that bulls team had no chemistry. D wade and butler were sending shots to their teammates to the press and rondo was calling them out for shitting on their own teammates.
The coaching as well
@t-god2439 I think personality don't fit.
@@Vichinsky-ox8px watching rondo’s career i wish he just found one coach who could really coach him. like imagine a prime rondo and Steve Kerr or mark Jackson.
@@t-god2439 It's tough Rondo is so smart it's difficult for him to be coached
Mrs wade is apoozy
Rondo is my favorite pure PG hands down. Smooth quick layups, getcha 15-20 assists, nail one or two clutch threes, a few steals... *every* once in a while, a monster dunk. Always a chance to win when he was on the court.
Still my secret weapon glue guy in 2k... he can turn any big into Shaq.
💯
What about Tony Parker?

It's funny that I didn't actually really appreciate Rondo until later in his career, but even know he continues to show how intelligent and knowledgeable about the game he is. Would love to see him on the coaching staff somewhere as think he could be a real difference maker.
3:45 Agree. Hope you know that us fans thought so too. As a lakers fan I have nothing but respect, loved seein ya play.
One of my Fav Teams of all time
That Bulls team was fun
Too bad it didn't work out in the end but the potential was there
No..the potential was not there. It was a corporate team. The bulls got the biggest names they could get without breaking the bank. The team was designed to put butts in seats and to help mend a public perception that the bulls were not a player-friendly team.
I hated that team so much.
That 2017 Bulls team could have went to the Eastern Conference Finals if Rondo didn't get hurt.
@@richardgrayson6638 the 41 - 41 team that had been inconsistent all regular season were going to just figure it out in the playoffs on the back of "playoff rondo". When we have fans who believe things like this why would reinsdorf and management ever feel the need to ever truly give any effort in constructing a good roster.
@@piccolomair to be fair tho Rondo and Jimmy are known to be significantly better players come playoffs. All they needed was to stay fit and away from injuries
@@richardgrayson6638 Til this day I firmly believe that could've been a legit possibility
I love Rondo...especially the intangibles he brought to the game...I see him coaching real soon...I know coaches his son
Only one flaw in Rondo's game, his FT% was only 61%. Not a huge deal, since he only scored 10 points a game, but yeah
Bulls could’ve gone to the ecf if rondo didn’t get hurt
I think injuries derailed that bulls team... they had a 2-0 lead without home court advantage. These are 3 guys that totally transform come playoff time.... 3 defensive juggernauts. But I think the injury to rondo then later the injury to dwade left Jimmy by himself to carry the load. I wish they gave that squad another chance but it is what it is.
I still remember that buzzer beater he hit in the preseason when he was a rookie with the Celtics
Rajon Rondo is very underrated as a point guard.
It worked when the coach stopped hoeing Rondo...that's why they were destroying Boston in the playoffs until Rondo got hurt
Thank you!!!!! That’s exactly when they went on a run as well
This dude was a living breathing triple double before the acl injury
That Chicago team got me into the NBA. It was a weird year, but the beginning of the play offs showed glimpses of greatness. Wish Rondo never got injured😢
What year?
2016-17
Miss that team💯
As a Celtics fan I hope number 9 hits the rafters, nobody should forget prime rondo was arguably as good of a point guard as there was at that time as far as impacting a game without a deep scoring bag, like occasionally he’d hit a three or a middy but you knew where he was going with the ball in his hands but you didn’t know what he was gonna do when he got there, plus playoff rondo was a different machine, he was a big reason for Boston almost beating Miami in 2011 or 2012
He lost you a title against the Lakers. Kobe double teamed everyone and just left him open.
Rondo will forever be my all-time favorite player 🍀
Bro sounds like an honest man
Rondo is too real for most people
That boy is underrated a true PG. OT going to score 30 but gon get a double double with rebounds and assists
Shotgunned beers during this video
Rondo was a baller but I always loved him for going rogue on refs or coaches
The 150…
He played in Maywood with us at Irving Park middle school. And also at River Forest rec center
Javon Carter also come back in the summer and play with us.
When I saw that Tyrese Maxey was practicing with Rondo in his offseasons, I knew Maxey would improve. Two guards from Kentucky that both slipped to pick 21, when they should have been top 5 picks in their respective drafts.
Rondo one of the most underrated guards to ever play.
Rondo should be in the NBA coaching. An incredible basketball mind.
Can definitely see chemistry as a problem with this team, but also shooting was a huge problem with the 16-17 Bulls. A lot of good defenders, but on offense, the big minutes guys weren't shooters. Not a lot of size, either. Their best big was Robin Lopez. A career backup and defensive specialist. Really, a poorly balanced roster all-around. No way this team was winning a title outside of pure luck.
I remember hating Rondo as a Raptors fan when he was with the Celtics. He would just tear them apart.
Because none of them are reliable three point shooters
Jimmy: "Well damn"
Rajon Rondo UNDERRATED PLAYER 💪💪💪
😢 still so sad these teams didnt work for us.
Rondo was a top 3 pg
one of the best guards
As a Bulls fan I was SICK… Rondo was on point
Rondo broke his hand ✋ it was over from that point 👉
“Stars in their roles”
Rajon Rondo you are my idol
Can’t wait to see Rondo as a head coach one day. He’ll turn a bad team to a playoff contender and championship contender
This was one of my favorite teams to watch and I definitely believe they would have won that series if Rondo doesn’t get hurt. Same thing when he played for the Pelicans.
he said it the chemistry wasnt there on the floor. bad spacing, good on defense but not that good on offense, injuries
The problem with chemistry in American sports is the "I am the Super Star and this is my team. The rest of you are just supporting cast and role players" mentality.
You rarely have this problem in European football because EVERY single position is respected.
In European football, any position can be man of the match (MVP), any position can be the highest paid player.
So, every player in the starting 11 knows he is valued and he has an important role to play.
In contrast, American sports have chosen to go the Hollywood way with only a select few can be "Super Stars," while the rest of the team is relegated to role player and supporting cast.
Look at how they are treating the RB position in American football.
That is why there is so much jealousy and envy between teammates in American sports.
LOL
I remember growing up i didnt like rondo now im going 30 and i respect this guy more than i do my boss😂
Without Rondo, zero chance of 08 Celtics raising a banner. And I'm a Boston fan... I'm inclined to say the same thing for the '20 Lakers
Mann i loved that bulls team. They needed one/2 more piece. If pau stayed it woulda been perfect. Then anotha piece on the bench
nooo they didn't, they needed Jimmy and Wade to quit acting like they were above everyone else. That type of cliquish behavior on any team is toxic
Rondo in prime was definitely the best pg in the nba . Just based off the fact of his play in the playoffs alone. The man one a game plying with one arm In the playoffs.
People are forgetting, but Rondo and D Wade had to get on Jimmy for not working hard.
Rondo was a top 3 point guard at the time! I for sure added the pump fake & lay up to my bag because of him 🎒
Negative
@@g..._anthony27 what an insightful comment
3 guys that need the ball control
Rondo was the reason that Bulls team even won those playoff games. Not Jimmy. Not Wade. It was Rondo.
Had rondo not gotten hurt who knows how the playoffs would’ve turned out still can’t believe what happened to IT2 lost his sister still played and won a playoff series then lost his bag because he played hurt
They needed shooters and more seasoned players
I never listened to rondo talk in my life. Idk why i thought he sounded like Chris Tucker in my head.
Fred Hoiberg was not the guy to handle their personalities
Rondo is one of the few real point guards
Coaching as Well honestly
Rondo is a Top 10 point God of all-time.
Because the last year of D.Wade's prime was 2011, and being a player whose greatness was in part based on how athletic he was, he was really just a role player by 2016. End of story. All the interpersonal stuff doesn't matter if Wade is still 2008 form and running and dunking on everybody alongside Jimmy's defense and aggressive scoring from the mid-range inward. It also doesn't matter that neither of them are three point shooters, since you can always surround them with shooters.
As someone who didnt watch 2012 & 2013 Miami championship, how impact was DWade if you are saying 2011 was the end of his prime. Really curious to know how helpful he was to Lebron winning those Miami chips, I know by 2014 he was finished at a top level
Man I miss Rondo and D Wade on the Bulls
rondo in my top 5 pgs only guy to have a ring on lakers n celtics and playoff rondo was a problem
Best playmaker since magic
Rondo needs to start his coaching career
rondonumbanine forever heem💯
Truth is with the playoffs, Rondo doesn’t get injured in the first round, Bulls win that series.
The bulls should've kept that core together for another season or two.
That team was definitely gonna upset the #1 seed Celtics in the playoffs
Rondo was the best pg in the league at one point
Rondo getting hurt Is the only thing stopped this team
Who the hell put 3 or 4 pg ahead of rondo 😂😂😂😂
Yeah it was chemistry issue, not that the best 3 guards of the team couldnt shoot the 3
I think because Rondo was real, the younger generation of players after him didn't want to blend as a team because Rondo was real and because of that, I think teams later on, was reluctant to play Rondo as much because of these new kids wanting to be individuals rather than being a team.
Why would a team playing with 3 athletic guards who can't shoot not make it?
Chicago f**ks with you heavy!!! ⏸️
Rondo was the best PG till he got injured.
My favorite player rondo#9
Would have like to see that squad play 3 seasons together with healthy Wade and Rondo. That squad could have taken at least one of post-Miami ECF titles from LeBron.
That explains why they beat the Lakers with Kobe and Gasol that year. 08'
I put Rondo up there with the Jordan’s, the LeBrons, the YK Osiris’s
As good as those guys are individually, if none of your perimeter players can shoot, you're going to have a bad time.
Rondo IQ Vision Ball control second to nun
The only real challenge Bron had was the Celtics led by Rondo, because it was about strategy, everything else was mainly about talent. He is top 3. Him with Wade and Bron top 3 players of that generation.
LOL Rondo was not the leader of the Celtics team that LeBron could not get past in Cleveland...KG was. And Rondo is certainly NOT in any top 3 with LeBron and Wade, how much did you have prior to posting that.
@@seanjoyce7039 KG was leader in talking, Rondo drove the team, made them great team, smartest person on that team. Watch again those games (without commentators and biases). He was the MVP for Celtics
Love Rondo but did he really say he was top 3 in the game😂
That 2017 Bulls team could have went to the Eastern Conference Finals if Rondo didn't get hurt.
People forget JJ Redick was almost a Chicago Bulls if the Mavs didnt match the offer that year. I wonder how that would have worked out.
Maybe because Wade turned into Shewayne
Rondo was a selfless point that had psychic ability but his emotions was his downfall at some point of his career similar to Westbrook ❤
I don’t agree with the Westbrook comparison. He’s got 2 championships with the Top 2 NBA franchises. Russ is still chasing that first one. The only areas Rondo may have fell short of his potential are fame (he should have stayed in the discussion for top PG for a lot longer in his career) and fortune (he should have made as much as or more than Russ or CP3). But on the court success? His peak is what Russ (and CP3) is still chasing.
But that’s just my two cents 🤷🏾♂️
@@UATjonCI don't know about this. During Rondo's "peak"; where he won championships he was like the fourth best player on his teams. When he won on the Celtics he was still the guy with huge potential. As great as Rondo was in the NBA his peak wasn't on the level of Cp3 or Westbrook. He didn't have their influence either so he had no chance of ever making their money. I'm certain both of those guys would trade some of their success for rings. Though, they weren't just great at their position they were arguably top 10 players in the NBA at their peak. Rondo doesn't have that type of acknowledgement on his resume. When you talk about their peaks individual success should be a factor. Especially, when you compare Rondo to players that were bonafide superstars for a period of their career.
