Sgraffito is such an awesome technique! It can be super complex, or it can be beautifully simple. In this video I show you step by step how I carved this hanging planter pot.
It's so fun to try new things 🙂. Mason stains are a great option for coloring slip. There's a reference chart online (I linked it at the end) that shows what stains are good for that. Some burn out at lower temps than others and some are better at coloring clay bodies. 10% mason stain to dry clay weight is a good place to start (you'll have to experiment with how much to add to get the color you want). I like to add stains when I'm reclaiming clay and my clay is already liquid. Also, use a good mask when using mason stains, they are not good to inhale. Hope that helps! www.masoncolor.com/reference-guide?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2uiwBhCXARIsACMvIU0OOQpJwaMZfhOo0Haqztr7r21pcwLm1MVxskDRSxIgBtaA_UVDdM4aAssFEALw_wcB

What do you color the slip with? I’m new to pottery and ready to try this.
