  • In this episode we go explore the American Military Cemetery and Monument in BGC with our friend Philo in the Philippines. This was an amazing place to visit and a piece of history that I never knew was here in Manila. To think that all the men gave there lives for our freedom is very humbling.

This is one of the places that Every Filipinos should visits during a National Public Holiday Occasion. Many countries put significant value on this type of places; respecting the history and the fallen soldiers regardless what situations. We must Remember them! Philippine- US fallen soldiers!

Philippines is as big as Italy and it remains a relatively forgotten battlefield.Yamashita settled an inland defense as many IJA generals would do in the final stages of the war,eg:Peleliu,Iwo and Okinawa.

Being a US military veteran (USAF), I try to visit the Manila American Military Cemetery and Monument every time I visit my native country, the Philippines. It is a beautiful and extremely well-maintained resting place for US military service members and Filipinos who paid the ultimate sacrifice to defeat the evil forces of Imperial Japan and in extension, the murderous Nazis of Germany. A portion of the place are walls of memorials describing the battlefields of the Pacific and US Medal of Honor recipients and other heroes of WW2. I highly recommend to gold medal families of heroes to visit them in these sacred grounds.

It's the biggest and largest American military cemetery outside the US. More than 4 thousand American soldiers died in the Philippine-American War. It's also the final resting place of American soldiers who died in WWII. Hey, Philo is a superb tourist guide noting he's an American. Thanks Philo.

The Manila American War Cemetery was dedicated only to both Filipino and American servicemen who died in the Pacific War. Among the names listed in that memorial are about 35,000 who are missing.

The remains are all from World War 2 and all from the Pacific theater. IIRC, there are about 10,000 graves and about 50,000 names on the wall memorial, most were missing in action.

With a total of 17,206 graves, it has the largest number of graves of any cemetery for U.S. personnel killed during World War II and holds war dead from the Philippines and other allied nations.
