The Bamon fanbase was MASSIVE when the show aired live. It was one of the only ships that had an existing fanbase BEFORE the show was even created (because of the book series). So there was a chunk of the fandom that watched this entire show waiting for Bamon and never got it. I think people say NOW how much they like Bamon as platonic and just friends, but that’s after the show is completed and they just had a strong friendship. Before the show was over and people didn’t know who the endgame ships would be, Bamon was easily one of the most popular ships. It kills me how people can’t see them now as being anything other than platonic. As one of the original fandom girls, we all saw it!! Lol
Tbh I'm gonna have to disagree. I love Bonnie don't get me wrong but I sort of didn't see her with any guy in the show as a love interest. I always sort of head cannoned Bonnie as gay and her having a girlfriend and not a boyfriend (sort of like Freya) That plus I hate Damon with a burning passion because of what happened with Caroline. Bonnie deserves so much better than Damon is the point I'm trying to make
As i said before i disagree. I absolutely love the Bamon friandship and putting them together would just ruin it the same way the Steroline friendship was ruined when it started going the romantic way. Delena, Benzo, Klaroline, and whatever the ship name for Stefan and Valerie is what I prefer.
Benzo was so rushed, it just never felt earned. Steroline came out of the blue because they were EXTREMELY close friends. Bamon were frenemies to friends, which is why I always felt a potential romantic chemistry between them. Plus, they worked so well together. Klaroline and Delena were just wrong for MULTIPLE reasons lol. They were always better as a forbidden love in my opinion.

It was cool to suddenly see them together and then get the build up afterwards. As far as Delena and Klaroline, my only excuse is chemistry.

In my opinion, Delena was just gross. He literally stole her from his younger brother. Their relationship just came off as an obsessive predator and a confused little girl. It did nothing for both characters. Damon started selfish and stayed selfish because he wanted Elena no matter what and just could not let his brother and her be happy in peace. Elena didn't grow with Damon. Even after her relationship with Stefan ended, she became worse with Damon. She literally gave up all her values and character development and became a worse version of herself just to be with Damon. I started off as a huge Damon fan and my liking of the character diminished in later seasons because of the annoying obsession he had with Elena. I would have preferred if they did become a thing only to realize that they were not good for each other, that would have been a mature development for both of them. I think what I struggle to understand is did people really want to see them together as a couple? OR did people really just want to see them have sex? (like how Caroline did with Klaus) Those are two different things. Then what I struggle to imagine is what romantic thing or gesture could anyone see Damon doing for Bonnie. If people really want to see them as a couple, paint a romantic scene for me, because I can't see it.

He tried to kill her, turned her mother into vampire, he is the reason her grams died tried to opening the tomb, used bonnie many times to save elena's life.
