Please put a rubber grommet or silicone around the return line on the fuel cell where it goes through the trunk skin, would suck major ass if vibrations caused the metal to rub through the line.

Unfortunately mine isn’t going to heal fully, my elbow came out of my arm and so now it has metal in it so I can’t fully bend it out or in, and my right leg I broke my femar and had a metal bar put in from my hip to knee so that swells up a lot left hand I shattered all my bones so it’s hard to do simple task with hands a lot of physical therapy but it’s still early in wrecking was 7 months so hopefully I can recover somewhat I got a lot of other little stuff like broken collar bone, broken chest piece, broken pinky toe etc all the little stuff has healed though I ended up losing feeling in my right hand tho on 3rd and pinky finger. I believe I have ulnar palsy from them fixing my elbow but haven’t been diagnosed with it yet! I let it have time to come back but gonna mention it next doctor appointment! And I appreciate the recommendations! I enjoy most stuff that fun and fast haha

This is amazing! Congrats! Two things I’d consider. #1 O2 sensor at the 12 o’clock position before the bend will work better at calculating fuel mixture. #2 even though the metal is thin, riv certs are dangerous, I would plate/weld the steel anyway with 1/8” and not riv cert, don’t wanna pogo stick the car….

Hell yea boiz!!! The guy Justin, who runs Hubcity Performance where you got some of your parts, had a BAADDD AWD hatch that was like 850-900 wheel. Undefeated on the street. He raffled it off for like 35 or 40k worth of tickets. I bought 2 and unfortunately I do not have a 900awhp hatch lol Can't wait to see this thing rippin

I predict that the tow hitch is gonna rip straight out the back of that thing if there's too much weight in the trailer. Those mounting points just aint man enough. You need a hitch that slides inside the two chassis rails there and properly fixes to the car's structure instead of just hanging off it.
So you say, but on a lot of jdm cars from this period, this is just the way the hitch mounts, Toyota still did it like this a few years ago on the 14' generation yaris and the likes, and some of these cars will tow a lot My own is allowed to tow about 1300kg with trailer brakes, but that is limited because of the engine, mine is 1.8, the 2.0 is allowed to tow even more
@@emil3672 I've fitted my fair share of tow hitches (or Tow Bars as we call them here in the UK) over the years, and I've never seen one that hangs off the bottom of the car on two bolts and then attaches to the towing point for seemingly the hell of it. When a trailer is towed behind this, those two main bolts, with the added leverage of the spacers, are just going to bend and tear that thin sheet metal right out of there, that is the totally incorrect hitch for that car and my prediction still stands. As Mr never lift states....... it's sketch af.......
@@nickmaclachlan5178 mine is mounted this way, a Toyota carina e - just with 4 bolts I believe, but it's just hanging from the bottom or the sides, nothing slides inside the frame, or around for that matter, and I just looked up a completely new assembly, and it's still the same - I think I found one version that connects on the bottom and sides But it can only have around 75kg sitting directly on top of the ball And on the earlier mentioned yaris, it definitely just goes underneath as I mounted a bunch of these at a Toyota dealership/workshop with all original parts - though it generally seemed like the car wasn't meant to have a hitch, as some of the wires had to be soldered under the dash after being pulled through the entire car Not saying it's not sketchy, just saying that it's not unusual, and that I have never seen one fail in person Edit: let's just hope that they either change it, or it holds
@@emil3672 Yup and that's 100% more bolts, two each side would hold well over twice as much rotational force from the weight and drag of the trailer than one bolt each side. Just cos Kyle stood on it, doesn't make it strong, as the main force it has applied to it isn't downwards, as a small well loaded/balanced trailer shouldn't have that much tongue weight. The force applied to the hitch is in a rearwards direction parallel to the ground.
Brotha dont forget to add your driveshaft loops. Would suck to do all of this and fail tech inspection. Love the content as always. Keep up the great work
Unreal. Great work boys. It's crazy that just a few years ago, a rwd/awd civic swap was a HUGE undertaking. Tons of fab work, all one off parts, and the end result was unreliable for the most part. This looks completely OEM and to be able to do it with minimal fabrication and so quickly is brilliant to see! I feel like I'd get mega rich if I started making reproduction waggo diffs cuz they are getting HARD to find!

Awesome job on the AWD. Remember "what can go wrong will go wrong" so give it a once over front to back, hoses, lines, cables, connections, grommets for cables etc, make sure nothing looks sketchy, will disconnect or rub through on body work/chassis when you are on the freeway. Could be good video content if it fails but a pain in the ass when the car is stuck on the freeway and it's raining and you just want to get to the hotel and chill.
for the love of god please put a rubber grommet around the hole where that fuel return line goes through the body before you guys rub through that nylon line and soak the track!

Fun fact: I didn't know the difference between b, d, or k back then. I grew to love the sound and power from smaller engines by dabbling in your other builds like the minivan. Put a rubber bung in the hole where your fuel line goes through the trunk floor, having it up against cut sheetmetal like that will eventually rub through no matter how good your braided line is
When a grinding sound slowly gets quiter its because it has self clearance itself. Look for metal shaving in or around the bell housing. If clean maybe you did just have a sticking throw out bearing. I can't wait to see this thing making full send pulls.
I agree something meral rubbed on metal until it self clearenced , it must be part of the clutch assembly if pressing the clutch made the noise stop. Would the clutch lever make that noise against the bearing?
@@T4M805 Possibly, but nearly every time I've had repair a throw out bearing it was making all the noise loud screaming and screeching and or chirping. Removing the starter and inspecting for debris wouldn't hurt. But who knows I'm not there I can only speak from 25 years of experience, and I would never actually try to diagnose a car I wasn't standing in front of but in the end that noise came from something.
Absolutely love your videos, just need to rewatch more when you are editing and chop out where you repeat yourself. You talked about making this thing awd with the tailshaft like 20 times. Its similar through most of your videos.

Sounds like it was grinding something off inside of the bellhousing. That ringing sound is exactly what it sounded like in my trans after a rebuild and all new parts, and it went away within 10 minutes of driving it. Something was being ground down. Hey, just look at it as in the field clearancing.

I'd still be worried about that noise. It has gone temporarily but there is a gremlin somewhere. Turn it over by hand and feel for any tight spots with clutch at different positions

That noise at startup sounded like something scraping in the bell housing. The noise went away because it self clearanced like a lathe in there. No idea if this is exactly what it was but I have seen that happen when swapping out gearboxes & it sure sounded like metal running around the inside of a bell 🔔
I think you were hearing the sound was from everything just hanging. Wheel & tire weight of them slicks was dragging on everything in the trans. Throw out bearing and all. That and the fluid needed some time to really spread. Glad u finally got this thing done tho. Been waiting to many years

Please put a small like 1/4" plate inside the "Frame Rail" where the hitch bolts through. Thats how they would be when used to install hitch, will atleast add a little something to help avoid tear out.
Just a thought. Instead of using nutserts. You could also tack a welding rod to a nut, then bend the welding rod to suit and insert the nut in one of the extra holes along the chassis. Have done this method also with a nut welded to a small plate with a hole in it for extra reinforcement when trying to attach things to places you can’t get a spanner. Keep up the awesome vids boys! if you have the time, a drive shaft loop(s) would be some added security before you go drag racing
I think they are even mandatory for Sick Week, Shane put some loops on his CRX the other day

You really need something to protect the fuel line at the back. One small rear-ender and thats 10 gallons on the ground.

Awesome job on the AWD. Remember "what can go wrong will go wrong" so give it a once over front to back, hoses, lines, cables, connections, grommets for cables etc, make sure nothing looks sketchy, will disconnect or rub through on body work/chassis when you are on the freeway. Could be good video content if it fails but a pain in the ass when the car is stuck on the freeway and it's raining and you just want to get to the hotel and chill.

for the love of god please put a rubber grommet around the hole where that fuel return line goes through the body before you guys rub through that nylon line and soak the track!
This is so badass I'm can't wait to see it rip🤘 I learned about your channel from the 7 second video, and started by binge watching your whole series on the MR2 from 2016 on. Fun fact: I didn't know the difference between b, d, or k back then. I grew to love the sound and power from smaller engines by dabbling in your other builds like the minivan. Only in the last month did I find the civic reaction video with Ned Flanders and damn dude it blew me away how hard this thing pulls!! I've sent that video to Honda skeptical friends and no one can deny how bad ass it is. Great video quality and very thorough on this build guys. Sick week is gunna be insane

I remember about 15 years ago I had a dream/idea. Take a civic hatch, a CRV 4wd system and trans, with b16 or b18 gear ratios, and an h22 with an h2b trans plate. This is basically exactly what I wanted, congrats, I'm jealous.

Put a rubber bung in the hole where your fuel line goes through the trunk floor, having it up against cut sheetmetal like that will eventually rub through no matter how good your braided line is
I was watching on my home theatre set up and when the car started up. HOLY SH!T that was loud hahaha glad to see the hatch alive bois.
When a grinding sound slowly gets quiter its because it has self clearance itself. Look for metal shaving in or around the bell housing. If clean maybe you did just have a sticking throw out bearing.

I agree something meral rubbed on metal until it self clearenced , it must be part of the clutch assembly if pressing the clutch made the noise stop. Would the clutch lever make that noise against the bearing?
@@T4M805 Possibly, but nearly every time I've had repair a throw out bearing it was making all the noise loud screaming and screeching and or chirping. Removing the starter and inspecting for debris wouldn't hurt.
But who knows I'm not there I can only speak from 25 years of experience, and I would never actually try to diagnose a car I wasn't standing in front of but in the end that noise came from something.
2:28 should put a grommet or heat shrink to protect the gas line! but i wanna build one now.

sorry if this is long, but seriously thank you guys, years ago you guys reignited my childhood love for cars and everything fast starting with the shopping go kart, and then i saw the integra build, and i havent slowed down since, thanks to your guys' inspiration, i now have my own project foxbody, and possibly another project soon being a CRX, and i now get to work at a honda dealership, im so happy with what i do now and you guys are a huge reason why i do what i do now, thank you for everything you guys do and im so excited to see the hatch with its new and improved drive-train!

This is the car that made me drop out of college to pursue my dreams in the mechanic field... so glad it's running again! Love the shit yall do.
Sounds like it was grinding something off inside of the bellhousing. That ringing sound is exactly what it sounded like in my trans after a rebuild and all new parts, and it went away within 10 minutes of driving it. Something was being ground down. Hey, just look at it as in the field clearancing.

I'd still be worried about that noise. It has gone temporarily but there is a gremlin somewhere. Turn it over by hand and feel for any tight spots with clutch at different positions

That hitch needs support along the chassis rails, one bolt either side is not going to last when you pull a trailer forwards.
My favorite video was the off roading in the geo, and most definitely after that it was snow drifting in wago. The first snow drifting in wago. Also I remember meeting you at cleetus and cars a few years ago in Houston. You hooked up your sub in wago for me so I could hear it. Was fricking lit dude 🤘🏻 love the vids! Man this is sweet, the hatch back with some attitude! AWD and upgraded from the get go. This Civic is going to Hurt some feelings. And the way you are about doing things lately, the Rowdessy is heading in the same direction. All well build, upgraded, well sorted, top notch components. Rolling legit son! Awesome! That noise at startup sounded like something scraping in the bell housing. The noise went away because it self clearanced like a lathe in there. No idea if this is exactly what it was but I have seen that happen when swapping out gearboxes & it sure sounded like metal running around the inside of a bell 🔔

I think you were hearing the sound was from everything just hanging. Wheel & tire weight of them slicks was dragging on everything in the trans. Throw out bearing and all. That and the fluid needed some time to really spread. Glad u finally got this thing done tho. Been waiting to many years

Please put a small like 1/4" plate inside the "Frame Rail" where the hitch bolts through. Thats how they would be when used to install hitch, will atleast add a little something to help avoid tear out.

Just got my ek running again after chipping an exhaust valve... I feel the excitement!!!
That always makes for fun night drives lol the giant flame balls out the exhaust are great
Just a thought.
Instead of using nutserts. You could also tack a welding rod to a nut, then bend the welding rod to suit and insert the nut in one of the extra holes along the chassis. Have done this method also with a nut welded to a small plate with a hole in it for extra reinforcement when trying to attach things to places you can’t get a spanner.
