That little fluff ball has it. Sheltie is the smartest dog I've ever been around. My little boy used to herd my mom around the house. I miss them both.
Car chasing is not good. Herding a person does not mean a dog will chase cars. This highly driven sheltie that herds cats, people, dogs and chickens, does not chase cars.
My nearly two-year old Sheltie tries to herd my adult Sheltie on to the doorstep so I have to take them out in my fenced-in yard separate to do their business or the adult never gets a chance to do hers. My pup also does the "sheep creep." She does a stealth walk towards the adult before she herds her on to the doorstep.
One of the first things we do is work puppies in the front yard. We live on a 40+mph road and staying in the yard, learning a recall is priority. Long lines are used for a LONG TIME.
How long would you use a long line for? My 17 month old sheltie is starting to get reactive again after doing so well with recall I think I need to put him back on a long line.

Our border collie would herd us all the time, from her puppy yrs thru adulthood! ❤
Love this!!! I have a 14 year old sheltie and she’s always done ever since she was a puppy. So cute!

Quality little Dog, well done! Ta for putting up
If this is a test for probability of being a herding sheltie is was right...my girl needs some animals to herd.

If that was my Sheltie(s) it would be running down the road in the background not to be seen for 3 days.
