The only solitare problem is the cards. I have played it both ways. One vs one and solitare. The surprise factor of the cards is a big deal. They can make or break a combat that might not happen playing solitare because you have knowledge of both sides cards. Also the strategy difference between an opponent vs just yourself is a large difference. The two player game I played was different because of the thought process of my opponent. I really enjoy this design Chad created. I was a play tester for him and spent many hours with him testing his game designs with him. The main ones I had input with was the Combat Commander series and Dominant Species. He even honored me with a counter in Combat Commander. I am the American battle field promotion, Private Adamson. Chad got cheated in life but he lived it fully and was always laughing and having fun. RIP brother. The gaming community misses you and your designs. Thanks to Kai Jensen and John Butterfield for bringing this game to life. I will spend many hours playing this game. I think my favorite part of this game is the spoiling factions concept. It's brilliant.
I do suspect that the more I learn the game and the more I understand the full value of the cards the "surprise" value of the hands and solitaire setting will be more dominant. It sounds like you have such wonderful memories with Chad and thank you for all your support, in this design and others so the larger community can enjoy these works!
"It's great" - Agreed! Also agree that the the player aids are top notch. Across the board, in our first play, neither player was diving into the rule book very often for a rules look up. All around great design that is meaty but approachable and easy to process.

I’ll be along for the ride! I thought you touched on just about everything I would want to hear about when watching a first impressions video.
I played through the first few turns of the overlord scenario, but want to go back and play the full campaign and see how it shakes out.
Only bad part is “several months” before a full review 😂 only because I’m impatient and want all the content now haha. I’ll sub and with excitement, await the following videos.

I think you handled the live video recording very well, especially with the audio. I wonder (just thinking out aloud) whether mixing live recording and Vassal might work well - Vassal for the close ups and live for the boarder views of game. Possibly too much of a faff keeping both in sync, though you could use Vassal just as sandbox and not keep it in sync. Just an idea if you find it hard to zoom in enough for close in action or where the counter density is high.
