Xinjiang province has long been the site of ethnic tensions between the Uighur population and Chinese rule. Amid fears that fanatical Uighurs are aligning with foreign extremists, the state crackdown is fiercer than ever.
"A normal person wouldn't raise a butcher's knife to the elderly and children. Can we still call them human beings?", asks policeman Ainiding Memtimin. In May he was on the scene when a group of extremists threw explosives into a busy Urumqi marketplace, killing 39 people. A Uighur himself, like most locals he is baffled by such drastic violent acts. Yet the tensions that have simmered in this region are sitting on a knife edge. "Injustice is everywhere here, but we can't talk about it", says one Uighur farmer in a snatched interview. On Xinjiang's highways, cars are now being stopped for full airport-style security checks. The government keeps a close eye on religious institutions and veils for women and beards for men are actively discouraged. Teaching in the Uighur language is disappearing in schools and it's almost non-existent at universities. And it isn't just the Uighurs feeling the crackdown; enormous numbers of Han Chinese have been pressed into the province to water down the Uighurs' presence and influence. In some towns, payments are being offered for inter-marriage. But is China's central government using a sledgehammer to crack a nut? This report doggedly pushes past the press restrictions and government minders to tackle this difficult question.

Please, don't lecture us about democracy and rights when you haven't gone through the situation where there's no food on the table, let alone discussing rights, too much is at stake for revolution (look at Syria ). The truth: Uyghurs enjoy more priorities than Han Chinese, like preferential policy that awards bonus points in the national college entrance exam, free to have many children, more fellowships for Uyghurs ecouraging all Uyghurs to receive education, and every year Xinjiang also enjoys more finacial surports than other province to boost its economy. The purpose is just want them to keep in peace and enjoy modernity and forget Jihaadi something. Unfortunitely, they never feel any grateful for that.
They probably don't feel grateful for those things because there is still a long list of benign activities that well get Uighur sent to the prison camps, but not the Han. Read up on them:

No, college credits don't make up for the fact that Uighur are legally forbidden from majoring in many subjects due to their ethnicity. Such as majoring in the Turkic language, only the Han can do it

More boring anti-Chinese promotion, I spend a lot of time in China and know a little about these 'problems'. First you may notice that the border guards had Uighar police as well as Han Chinese. Also Xinjiang is an autonomous region so is self governing and it consists of multiple tribes - who; it should be noted do have differing views, in fact last year Xi Jinping went there and spoke to a number of tribal elders in an effort to resolve their internal disputes. As someone who travels in China I see Uighars travelling extensively and also know that the Government spend $75 million a year on further education for ethnic groups and if anyone cares to travel to some of the main cities will see Uighars working and living there quite comfortable. China is by no means perfect but seems to attract a bad press for some reason

However, even with all it's flaws, the United States of America is the greatest democracy the world has ever seen. Thanks to this democracy, I have been given the same freedoms every American is given. I have been able to get a college degree and become an engineer. I have worked hard to succeed, and thanks to the opportunites afforded me I have been very prosperous. Today I own several homes and vacation properties, am semi-retired and can travel anywhere in the world I want to go.
Had the European colonists not come to the Americas, I doubt I would have been able to have had the lifestyle I have enjoyed. Yes, through it's history the US has made many mistakes, and in the future will probably make many more, but it least it as a system of laws which encourage citizens to help fix those mistakes.

In India, we have a good democracy. Honestly I would say there should be a law about having at the most two kids so the population doesn't increase especially in villages. But yes, the triple talaq has been removed from India and hopefully any other such absurd Islamic law will be removed. We also don't have sharia law and if ever pressurized to have one, I saw put all the supporters in jail. If riots are caused, put those people in prison as well. Im a Chinese han and I've been to xinjiang for 3 months . Some of my family live there. Most Muslim and Han are peaceful, work a lot together. But there is foreigners fond come to xinjiang to support few radical group. That's why a Chinese Muslim can not get a visa easily. But I think in the future with out foreign intervention we could do it . Live in peace.

I have been to Nepal 26 times, once I raised money to buy medical supplies for a hospital that gave free medical aid to people in a Tibetan refugee camp in Kathmandu. The people from the camp took me to a warehouse where I paid for what they needed. Whilst in the camp I met a 15 year old Tibetan boy named Pasang. Pasang had learned to speak English in the camps school but he was hard to understand because his mouth was all deformed. The reason being he was caught with others trying to get out of Tibet, the Chinese wanted bastards wanted names so they strapped Pasang to a table and put electrodes on his lips, teeth and tongue. As bad as that sounds it becomes worse when I tell you at the time Pasang was aged 9 NINE. I often wonder what sort of men could do that to a nine year old boy. You would not believe the stories I heard whilst in that Tibetan refugee camp, THAT IS WHY I HATE CHINA.
