I'm 65yr women. Play these tunes reminds me of Wigan & twisted wheel.fantastic keep te faith.❤
Now i miss being young ,hitchhicking from fife to wigan ,just to dance outside ,wasnt old enough to get in ,
I it's funny we never drank that much we were too busy dancing.... 😁
Wigan casino what a night many great times i do miss the casino gone but never forgotten keep the faith.
Oh my Gawd....San Remo Golden Strings...we danced our arses off to this music. Long before Barry White or EWF had instrumentals. No lyric just that driving beat..crowded dance floors...sweat..all that energy!....Wish I could muster some of that spring in my step from back in the day. At 80 the mind is willing but the body is a little frail.....bit,Oh those memories. Thanks so much for the trip back in time...
❤❤❤ yep
I will be 66 on January 31 st 23 and love Northen Soul xxx
7am at the Casino, knackered, then this comes on, Bobby Hebb Love Love Love. The only song that could get me back on the floor, Dean Parrish excluded, course.
Great timeless music, casino boy myself, be getting my pension in 18 months.
Knees still holding up. Wife's have come and gone, music and boyhood memories remain.
KTF.
Couldn't agree more !! Daughters now 36 & long flown the nest but hers & our Vic Lounge, Wigan & Wirrina in Peterborough will last while I'm upright and breathing 😂 55 yrs now, scary lol , where DID it go ?? X x
Whoever put 7 dislikes .get your head tested
They do it to get a reaction.;)
@@scotfoxx Or metal heads.
They weren't for the music they were for The Wigans casino...
It's the Snake there's a vendetta against that tune
@@brianboru636 I'm a metal head and love NS KTF 👍
OMG I am right back in Wigan Casino and my misspent youth. I'm still dancing even though my knees are a bit creaky now. 50 years later still the best music EVER. Keep the faith everyone.😘
Knee broken also T. Was at Blackpool tower November. Missed the music of heartbreak and the Great people that go. KTF
Great days my knees are creaky to mate
yup
Another '50 years later' girl here, so fantastic to hear the music again, wonderful memories, Majestic Newcastle 1970's
Creaky! Great word the brain wants to dance but Creaky bones make it so hard... KTF Brian 68
67 still toes still tapping. Love it.
" Stop her on sight " always does it for me ......
I’m a southern Soul girl and just love this mix. 73 now but still a Mod at heart and always will love Soul/Motown.
Candi staton was southern soul .am i right
Brilliant Lynette, I love the Elgin's, I'm 68 and want to get those feet dancing again, but the coordination has gone.
Still love these tunes.
Hitting 60. Still love Northern soul great memories of My. Early. Years
Hey Lynette, age is just and attitude and your comment proves it. Music is in us all we just need to let it out and even when the joints get sore the beat will find a way. Keep your faith!
Me too, absolutely love Soul and Motown and I am 72!
Even after 50+ years, I'm still quietly seeking out original copies of some of these dancefloor classics, enjoying them and and filing them away, hopefully for future generations to appreciate. These exciting records are timeless - once they touch your heart and soul, the joy will never fade.
@drwhatson........Mmm, I don't want to sound like a 'party-pooper' and I agree, there are some truly great sounds here - but I thought the set was a complete mishmash. He started off with some classic 'youth club sounds' [mostly Motown with the odd rarity thrown in] but then it went completely batshit crazy!
Frank Wilson followed by 'Festival Time'?!? C'mon. And what happened to the 'Uptempo soul' items that segue-wayed from the Youth club era to the pioneering Soul clubs? Iain and I were regulars at Colley Gate Labour club after we had 'graduated' from Halesowen Youth Club - and I can't begin to emphasise just how important CGLC was in our 'progression' onto 'proper' Northern Soul venues like the Catacombs and Torch.
By that time we had acquired tracks like Johnny Sayles, Mamie Galore, Chris Jackson, Right Track, Travis Wammack etc and would get the DJ's at CGLC to play them for us. Then one night this new DJ showed up and in response to us constantly badgering him to play our records - he played a 'set' that absolutely blew our minds!
We didn't know any of the sounds he played, but they were all brilliant. I can remember us rushing over to him to ask what they were ....he reeled off a succession of titles as we busily noted them down - Sam & Kitty, Bok to Bach, Shakers, Jimmy Thomas, Rose Batiste Whispers et al.
I asked where he had heard these amazing records and he smugly replied, 'Tunstall Sounds'. We hadn't got a clue what he meant, but after further probing we managed to get him to reveal that he was talking about the Torch in Stoke and we made plans there and then to visit that iconic venue as soon as possible.
That was the beginning of our 'journey' to experience the most influential NS clubs and [IMHO] the best times ever on the scene.
@@thesoultwins72 Yep, you're absolutely right about the mix - I think I probably got carried away with Johnnie Taylor "Friday Night"(!) One of my faves of which I can't eulogise enough. :-) I can't stand "The Snake" and Frank Wilson is, you know... yawn city. I always preferred Laura Lee to the San Remo Strings, although both blew my mind on first hearing. Earl Jackson still sounds awesome though. I was very surprised to learn (from Carl Dene no less), that it had been played as early as 1970(!) Some of the rest are mostly reminiscent of a Tesco's CD compilation of "Wigan's Greatest Hits" - or worse 'Mr. Fuckin' M's'. :-(
66 now, from staffs, living in Indonesia, looking at the beach, missing the Top Rank, and later the Queens...
Frank Wilson " do I love you" this song still gets me up throwing shapes with my ancient body.. It is great music like this that keeps us young at heart, folks
You and me both! They played 'Do I love you' when I was on a short break recently, and I couldn't keep off the floor! I amazed my friends with my 80 yr moves! 🙂
It gets me throwing up too.
Off to spain in October for a wee dance.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 FANTASTIC

Great mix. When I think about the entertainment that the kids have today compared to simple music, soul and dance that we grew up with.....i feel so sad for them. My 3 daughters loved my music collection.
My mother brought me up on this type of music and i became a mod im 55 now and been hooked since I was 14 4in the 80s i have played several tunes to people who have never heard it and converted them into rude boys ✊🇬🇧💯

I'm spending lots of time sitting in my room and listening to sweet music like this...except for when I jump up and start doing "my dance" as my kids and grandkids say. Even though I have an illness that is lurking in the back, I'm still enjoying life. This music helps. Thank you.

EVERY TRACK MAKES YOUR ADRENALINE FLOW AND DRIVES YOUR FEET TO DANCE WHEREVER YOU ARE EVEN IF YOU WERE IN A DESERT. TOTALLY BRILLIANT.
Haha Michael, youre so right...im just catching up 50 years later. Just had my headphones on walking up the road, had to stop and dance in the street!! Just couldn't help myself! Used to dance every Saturday night Majestic Ballroom Newcastle- happy days!
My daughter was born 87 & a friend and i took her to a northern aged 16 to the wonderful Brighouse Ritz so 20 yrs ago now........wasnt sure we should tae her with her art student green & blue hair but she got in fine and sat looking at her glass of coke sulkily for a couple of hours to say when we left 'not for me, can i have some chips please?' No flsming pleasing some folk lol but as a graduate & bright lass im not complaining complaining !! She wont keep the faith like her ma but shes grand lass , happily married & happy as a pig in muck with hubby no 2. "You can't win em all " 😂
