Happy Walfasing! - Hudba
9 years later, but this is still very helpful! :D
Haha I can say 12 years later
God this is still extremely useful even to this day
the gacha-like style art of the internet... not cringe but amazing!
Take gacha, remove MOST of the cringe (since some Walfas videos are.. eh..) and you get this master piece for memes about war crimes, 9/11 and all sorts of other things !
Well, that's a lot of hardwork.
Nice tutorial btw. Now I understand how they move their arms.
Im now revisiting this video to re-learn the basics to making walfas videos. Glad its still up^^
Ahh, your "puppetry" technique is very clever. When I tried to make a lip-synced video, I took pictures of each individual frame of the character's mouth moving, then used a video editor to sync each frame to each word/syllable--which was SO TEDIOUS!!! Thanks for the advice!
i guess, to go something.
Yeeees! Thank you very much making this video even though you made this years ago lol
Seen a lot a walfas videos and this makes me wanna make one now
Many thanks Spazy! :)
Best tutorial ever
@mentaldagger The P button. You can also toggle "Pinned Scene Loading" in Options. Pinning can be useful for keeping objects in place when animating via still-capture software. Use "Untargettable Pin" so you can click through pinned objects: comes in handy when working with darkness or layered objects.
Thanks for your useful tutorial! Managed to make a short clip, even made a bit of use of that Walfas Puppetry. I am having some problems with CamStudio though. It may be because I have windows 8. Never-the-less though, this was very useful! Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial Spaz! It's a really useful one. ^^
@KorytheMaril Yes. You can make a png character in Gimp, then import them (this is how I made Mushroom Marisa in AUTS ep6). It's a tad more challenging to animate, since it doesn't rotate/move like a normal character, but the results look amazing when they're done. I'll probably do that tutorial next.
@CastlePokemetroid Just the transparencies. For the case of the arms having white edges, that's just a matter of clean-up. I'd recommend using the magnetic lasso tool for carefully extracting things like that.
Yep. Any video editor will do. Sure, it's a single layer, but for simple videos (like the frame-by-frame motion comic-style videos), that's all you need.
This helped me a lot. I always wanted to make a walfas sketch and love touhou project since the windows 98 days thank you so much for the tutorial gotta go work and figure out how to animate stuff now ....summer = time= animation now.
GamersGuild Thanks! Also, if you want to know how to animate stuff, look at my live production of Diamond In The Rough or my Walfas Intensive videos, wherein I record myself animating.
will do thanks for the reply XD
Wow thanks! This will really improve my Cirno VS Utsuho series and my TF2chans In Gensoukyou series.
@CastlePokemetroid Print screen is not entirely useless. For YSE, I used it to animate the Rampaging Sakuya parody, then I aligned it in Gimp and animated it in Sony Vegas. It could have also been done in Camstudio, but I felt using raw png files would've had sharper/smoother video (and it did).
I cover this is my frame-by-frame tutorial at 2:00. First, remove the initial "Background" layer from the project. Then, if removing the background doesn't work with the object you're trying to extract, go to Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha so you can cut away the background. If you see a grey checkerboard in the background, you've done it correctly.
Explained at 4:38. Shortcut keys include Shift+Up/Down to move them up or down, and Ctrl+Up/Down to send them to front or back.
TIME TO START DOWNLOADING CREATE.SWF!
Cool tutorial. I might remember that.
I already made 2 pics in my DeviantArt. And it's name's Rayman901.
@angelcokelife2000 I cover it pretty comprehensively from 2:00 on, plus I cover how to record around 9:43. I also have a rudimentary frame-by-frame png tutorial (the comments/text stuff on the video page is more useful than the video itself).
Спасибо за видео
Thanks, i can finally be walfas artist
this videos a real help :)
@zappazoey There is an advantage to it: it gives you greater control over the lipsync, the file sizes are considerably smaller, and you can make some REALLY complex animations. My latest project, "Five (Dangerous) Months At The Hinata Inn" will be done mostly with .png files, and you'll be amazed at the insane level of complexity it allows.
@Donqco Since I can't tell if you're being sincere or sarcastic, I'll just say this: everything I learned for Photoshop came from editing Half Life 2/Garry's Mod comics, while everything I know about music production spawned from remaking Touhou songs. Even if it's just a goofy little online virtual doll thing, you can learn a great wealth about writing, acting, animating, editing, and audience feedback by doing this. Plus, it's a community to meet people in and downright fun.
Besides books to help with my Tai Chi, I'll be sure to buy _Story_ this winter.
I have another video for that. The short version: you can hit Print Screen to copy and paste it into an external editor, or you can use a program like AndySnap to take images automatically. In fact, I now use AndySnap exclusively for my current Walfas videos (mainly due to file sizes, but they are more manipulable than video).
okay, see son later.
Aw I wanted Patchouli !
Thx man
Thanks spaz now the Nuke Tastic Crow will finally make some walfas vids :D
Thank you...
Thanks. I got confused and was trying to put the characters behind the objects in the backgrounds. Didn't even check to see if those things were in the object list.
In Camstudio, go to Options > Cursor Options, then select Hide Cursor. In AndySnap, uncheck "Show mouse pointer in capture".
Which free video editor program would you recommend to use?
Great video btw!
thanks me and my friend wanted to learn how to use this
thank you for the mouth syncing tip
@MiniWitch3 Correction: I MADE a follow-up tutorial on how to align images with Gimp/Photoshop for frame-by-frame animation in post.
Hey spaz. Me again... Quick question, can you tell me the names of the White Wolf Tengu, Celestial, and the Eyepatched Kappa oc? In fact can you tell me the names of all the OCs in DiTR. ( I only need the non Gappy Stu ones since I practically know Vic, Arturo, Brolli, and Jack's names already. ) It's for my fanfic. Iam considering adding them. Feel free to ask me why if you want.
It's working now :D
@mentaldagger Also, if camstudio doesn't work, try AndySnap or some other still-capture software. In fact, I've pretty much stopped using camstudio unless I really need it (raining objects, desktop capture, and so on).
Hello. I was wondering about the bit where where tewi chews while mokou talks (11:00). How were the two shots merged together? Can it be done using Windows movie maker or any other free video editing software?
So is there a wave to move charactars after you click out and go back in next to the name is a thumbtack and I cannot move them anyway to fix that?
If I want to make a male character, do I have to start with the Rinnosuke model or can I use a new character with a Rinnosuke hair model? Also, how to you import or make custom clothes skin, like that "Dante" skin you had on that guy with two swords? Thank you very much
Mr.spaz
if somebody doesnt have any editing programs,do u still have to edit it or just post a walfas video...
because i dont have any editing programs.....
@mentaldagger I never mess with the arrow speed. Just keep it at 1.
thanks for the tip of insert images
I knew it was archer but, besides the colour of his clothes, it was hard to tell. You can import clothes and weapons into this creation, right? Besides that, this is pretty much the first tutorial ive seen where someone actually shows the links opened. You're very detailed as well. Thanks!
Also, can videos recorded with CamStudio work properly on Lightworks on Win7? If I compress with Microsoft Video 1 (CS's default), Lightworks only reads about the first 10% of the video, if I choose CS Lossless Codec it only shows up all green (on a side note, it appears a lot of programs that deal with videos can't read CS Lossless Codec vids), and with Xvid MPEG-4 Codec it shows up completely white. I hadn't the patience and motivation to try the other compressors yet ;3
Thanks. Last question. How do you hide your mouse pointer?
@Spaz: Well I've tried recording with Audacity, but no matter what option I pick for audio input (including my speakers for some reason), Audacity just takes whatever goes in my crappy built-in mic :[ How do I set Audacity up so that it only takes audio from my laptop (and not its mic)?
@MiniWitch3 I'm thinking of making a follow-up tutorial on how to align images with Gimp/Photoshop for frame-by-frame animation in post.
Is there a way to make a more complex character? I wanted to have a scene with Thanatos from Kid Icarus uprising. Seeing how he's anything but average human, it'd be hard, right?
How do you put a character behind an object, such as a computer, kotatsu or counter?
Have you tried putting in the entire file directory yet? Like ; C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Pictures\filename.jpg . Did you crop out the image?
How do move arms to right position?
hey help me. when I play my recording, my video is so slow and sometimes a small skipped frame. cuz I tried to lip sync and part changing.
whats your Frame per second for the talking parts?
Oooh that makes sense :p
Hey man. Can i use Windows Live Movie Maker for the video editor?
If the setup procedures aren't working, just set the mouths manually and either record frame-by-frame or take pictures frame-by-frame.
how did you do the animation in walfas
Hey Spaz,I am having a problem with the how to make mouth move thing how can i do it?
Just to let the 2021 people know,
Walfas is still usable, but its just haven't updated for soo long...
It *looks* hard, but *looks* is the key word: it just takes a little practice, and you can make some pretty neat things.
Do I need to use CamStudioCodec1.4zip or CamStudioCodec14.exe or both?
For some reason when i try to download create.swf a lot of tabs appeared, when i try to open the file. Can someone please tell me what i should do?
Is it possible to create purely custom characters, without mixing-and-matching preset parts? Maybe in Paint or something?
If you can draw, yeah. You can import images, so just import your character. If you want to move their arms and stuff, though, you'll need to save it all separately.
I've found a work-around for create.swf only being able to save a certain number of parts in one scene before it starts dumping them, (as mentioned at 5:04 in annotation).
Make a new scene.
Under "Scene Info", there's three textboxes: Name, Prev, and Next. Name your new scene something similar to the old one (e.g., "ThrowChen2"), put the name of the original in the Prev box for the new one, and put the name of the new one in the original's Next box. Theatre mode changes scenes as necessary.
It seems CamStudio isn't recording the audio from my laptop (Record Audio From Speakers doesn't work, it doesn't detect my speakers). What should I do? (my laptop uses Realtek speakers I think)
It seems too lag more as i put more characters/items ... Is there a way too avoid that?
Go at the objects and select puddle.
It's already colored red by default.
and am I right in guessing that you use Audacity to do those audio effects you do to the voices such as Cirno's voice for example?
I need help with import own pics.
If i try to put the picture of the Fallout Plasmarifle, nothing happens :/
Small question :/ What pitch do you use on audacity for your characters?
AndySnap. It's linked in the resources below.
How do you use custom props spaz?
I swear, you look like Notch's avatar in real life, hat included.
What program did you use for .png?
I think the save.exe link is dead, because it keeps redirecting me to another page. Is there another download link for save.exe?
Don't forget to mention the stored data limit in the flash player settings n stuff. I felt so dumb when I realized that THAT was the reason I couldn't save anymore after around 150+ Parts...
Don't record audio from Camstudio. Record audio from either Audacity or some kind of Digital Audio Workstation. In fact, if you're working with another program like AndySnap (which is my current go-to program), you can't record audio at all. My method is to record all of the voices first, animate the project according to the voices, then add the missing sound effects afterwards.
You have to convert Create.swf into an exe file. That worked for me
No you don’t: not long after this tutorial, I stopped running create.swf in my browser and switched to Adobe Flash Player Projector, which runs swf files by themselves and way faster than in-browser. Best of all, it’s not effected by flash’s killswitch, so you can still use it.
how do you pin an object into a scene so that it wont move anymore? im having tht issue when I use custom png backgrounds...
P. Also, turn on "Untargetable Pinned" if you want to click through pinned objects. Press [ and ] to switch between objects so you can get pinned stuff.
Spaztique thank you good sir!
Thank you sir.
Now I can try to bring some more Walfas vids to the platform? I don't know, I'm an amateur storyteller and it may take awhile
before I get enough esteem to post some
Sincerely,
Firefly
P.S. I want to them be at least some sort of refined
For Linux Users, Manjaro with flash player and Kdenlive are useful softwares.
How can i do the Tewi eating while Moukou talking stuff in camtasia 9
That’s done in editing: you put it on a separate layer in your video editor (assuming it can do layers).
will camstudio work for windows 8?
i cant open the create.swf that i just download it
Mr. Spaz. How do I insert BGM for animation. And where do I get music's or SFX
Adrian Borja That all depends on your editor. There's music and sounds all over youtube. If you have a mic, you can make your own sounds. You can also finds tons of sound packs online. A simple google search will find most of what you need. Preferably, you want to find royalty-free music, music you can use free of charge: CZcams frowns on using copyrighted songs (especially extensively), though some publishers are leniant in their usage.
how do I color the arm
for some reason my down and right key dont move the character and some times make it disappear and think i deleted my speed of my key too in the option and dont know how to get it back
i found out if i change the speed of the arrow keys it does it how can i fix it?
Any alternatives to Camstudio? Or any programs that are good for Walfas comics?
Gabriel Wright-Dunn nowadays, I use AndySnap to take screenshots and animate frame-by-frame. Also, I’d recommend either Gimp or Rsgmaker’s Comic Layouter for comics.
Thanks dude, I'll check them out.
wow.. u download fast ! i download it and need a long time to download but not for a hour.. for maybe 30 minute (half-hour)
how you can make a text that is a sound effect?
+MineSlimeTV Use floating text or the action text. That, or use an external program. Also, in the Wild Words font, you can use [ and ] to make effect lines.
Actually, that guy with the two swords, Archer from "Fate/Stay Night", was made entirely from the create.swf's costume pieces: the trenchcoat is under accessories, but you can only have one accessory at a time unless you layer a blank character on top with the second accessory.
To make a male character, just go through the same steps I outlined in the New Character Tutorial, but select a shorter hairstyle (I use Chen's hair for my character) and masculine clothes. There's a lot to choose from.
Hey spaz, this might be 8 years overdue but... I was wondering about your interpretation of the spell card rules, iam currently writing a touhou fanfic, and iam planning to use a spell card rules similar to the fighting games than the main games or even the phasmagoria games, since I more or less got interested In the games lore because of the fighting games. I knew touhou way before I took interest in the games because of the music, and touhou 15.5 and 12.3 piqued my interest at the time, hence why I inspired my spell card rules based of the fighting games. Your thoughts?
P.S: my fanfic is in wattpad called Just Another Self Insert and I may or may not include an AU of DiTR in it.
@@eagleye2893 I see the spell card rules as Gensokyo’s honor system to keep duels fair: you’re only allowed a limited number of unfairly strong attacks, and after that, you have to surrender if you lose fair and square. And if somebody violates those rules, then impossible attacks may go into play as a form of self-defense. (I remember there were some folks who doubted this could ever happen, but then ISC came out.)
And I wish you good luck with your fanfic.
@@Spaztique Thanks! And since I'm using the fighting game format ( Iamp-AoCF ) you can imagine the insane balancing for the rules, especially since all the overpowered stuff can take a while in game to set up, let alone pull off successfully, the same principle will apply to my fanfic.
@@Spaztique now that you brought up ISC, it's an interesting thought about residents being able to bend the rules in ISC, do you think it's possible for a similar scenario if the residents deem it neccesary enough? Iam considering this scenario to be a plot point further down the line for the fic, as you can probably tell I have writer's block, so any suggestion for this idea would help.
@@eagleye2893 It’s possible, just be careful not to let it become the easy way out. Brainstorming more ideas, even dumb/illogical ones, can often help generate workable ideas.
is there something instead of posterous because its down for good
so wait the reason that it stops saving is because you used all your flash storage?
I honestly tried EVERYTHING to import pictures/files onto Walfas! I tried putting in the file name, converting/changing the type of file, and downloaded GIMP, but that did NOTHING! So could you please do a detailed tutorial on how to import pictures!?
Hello I am trying to make a video using the "Walfas pupetry" (nice name by the way) but the hot keys refuse to work. I have watched this video over and over and set the number of the mouths and eyes to the hot keys and they refuse to work. My question is, why is this? and also how do I fix this? so that this problem never occurs again. Thank you.
Possiblities:
If you are on a laptop: Do you have Number Keys enabled?
NumLock on?
Have you clicked the character before attempting the puppetry?
why when i open my firstfreakingwalfas.swf on the walfas page it just download the file again and not opened the walfas making stuff so why?
Ps:I'm uses Win 10 and tried on both chrome and firefox.
*knocks* You still there?
Mr. Firefly Games Yeah Im here
