I was there when it all started. I started breakdancing because of the influence of Floor Masters, Rock Steady Crew and NYC breakers super star Corey Montalvo AKA Icey Ice when I witnessed his practices in Ravenswood projects in Queens Those 70’s/80’s bboys came from the gutter. They lived next to all the trash/rubble and areas that looked like war zones. Most of their parents were on welfare living in rat and roach infested apartments. The streets at night were terrifying with junkies, drive bys, and drug dealing. They had it hard and they made something that changed the world with a new form of urban entertainment that today has turned into a global phenomenon and has progressed to the mind blowing. Mad respect to the founders who found a way to curb street violence by challenging each other to dance battles and reducing the murder rate! MAD RESPECT!! Can I get a witness and an AMEN??
Yep, I'm a witness to it all in South Bronx, NYC where it all started. Used to go to a lot of street battles and joined in a few times myself. Princess C. aka The Brit.
Retirement age for New York City b-boys was 16 and 17 years old. Y'all should be giving credit and big time respect to kids of that time, such as Crazy Leggs for not giving up the dance.
@beem Nah he said it right the original bboys retired at ages 16-17 and got jobs hip hop was created by young black American kids some 8-9-10 years old the 18-19’year olds were ogs to the young back then! Facts are facts you should check out the culture since……..71 the tru history of hip hop is on that channnel and that channel only all the rest are full of shit! 💩

these young kats today don't have any respect for the origins of hip hop and the young rappers today don't know what they hell they saying in the lyrics....this is a culture and needs to be respected in that way!! Crazy Legs hands down a living legend!
Do you pay respect to the Black Americans who culture it is or are you one of those that believe the lie that Latinos were best friends with Black Americans and Latinos. Rested hip hop! When hip Hop is Black American culture! That Latinos later on contributed too?
I'm proud to be an "original" of oldschool hip hop! And out here in the west Pop'n is king! But you can't make gumbo without the rue. Homage to the ones who started it all ROCK STEADY! There would be no gumbo without you. Much respect. King krush and the royal court salute you.
I remember when breakdancing first hit the scene in the late 1979. Nevertheless, entering Crazy Legs. He took it to a whole new level. Salute the master of breakdancing and the Rock Steady Crew. Use to do a little breakdancing with the Crazy Bunch Crew, but it was nothing compared to these guys. Hats off.

1984, suede pumas were $25. I begged my dad to buy me a pair. Only had one pair of pants for that school year, but had the only pair of burgundy and white pumas. Fresh.
Imagine having Crazy Legs participating in gymnastics at the Olympics. If he had put the same amount of work into it as he did into break dancing, he would have probably won every gold medal.
I remember going to the supermarket with my pops at age 13-14 about 35 yrs ago and at the magazine rack was a big comic book of the "new york city breakers, rock steady crew" Anyone remember that shit?
