- The Vallejo is the newest Premium Tier 9 American Light Cruiser. It has 10x 152mm guns. This video shows 1 game, played on Sea of Fortune, where I showcase myself with my thought process on what happens in the match, and give insight on what I think of the ship.
Do I recommend the Vallejo? Yes, if you really enjoy Worcester, and you want a similar but different play-style to that but at t9. No, if you don't like not having Hydro, or Radar to support your team through standard cruiser utility.

The little planes are Radioplane OQ-2 variants from what I can tell, they were mostly used for target practice.

Great vid, as always! I still have plenty of steel ships to get, so this will be low on the list. I agree though, T10 for steel. I'm not sure why I'd play this when I have the Worcester and other CLs with hydro and radar.

While I lament the double nerf from testing, I'll still pick it up. The ship will still have the best practical DPM of T9 cruisers. Seattle is better on paper but the crappy arcs and crappy turret angles make it harder to apply that DPM.
Unfortunately, WG has been very reluctant to release high DPM stuff lately. I think part of that reason is the testers tend to over perform in ships since most testers are good players.... but I guess that's another subject.

BTW- would like to see how a lighthouse build would do with this....
Lighthouse build isn’t really a good thing overall for my personal playstyle, I’d rather have the ability to go dark at will. But that’s my personal opinion.
I'd say thank god, they need to curtail the powercreep in this game
@@MalteseKnight Obviously Henri/Conde is best suited for LH build, but can work for Hindy too which is slower / less maneuverable than Vallejo....I was mainly wondering how viable it is.
My other question is would it be better to run slot 5 rudder if you are mostly staying at range anyway.
@@nasseq The thing is, with a few exceptions, most of the recent stuff is actually less competitive than ships have been in the game for a long time. I will just about guarantee you in this upcoming CB season the most popular ships will be Moskva, Petro, Gearing, Smaland, Marc/Kleber, Kremlin, Ohio.

I like to play it as it is fairly rare and challenging and has no gimmicks like the Austin has nerfed reload so that it can have a reload booster. As soon as you are spotted though, the entire enemy team targets your ship.

Can you do a video on the Neustra? It’s one of my absolute favorite ships (although it’s much better in ranked than the randoms potato farm)
I love Neustra. Just got it recently, and am very happy. It has such a high impact with the spotting ability, stealthy torps, and super heal. Great ship if you have hands.

You can get more range and dpm on the Worcester than this thing plus you have radar and hydro and it is free so why would I spend any steal or coal even to get a ship that plays worst than something that I can get for free again?
Spanish speaking here - its pronounced "Vayejo" - the double L in the name is pronounced as the Y in "Yolk"

@@klmnts Either is prob fine.....but "Ba-yay-ho" if you want to go full spanish. Remember that V's are pronounced as B's in spanish.
Having lived in Vallejo for27 years, plus my wife was born there, I can tell you it’s pronounced Va-lay-ho. Yes, named after the Spanish explorers who passed through here (there) but no one ever pronounces it like the Spanish might have.
Spanish name, the LL is pronounce like Y in yellow. And the end JO, is like HO-t. Like always, good vid.

I think this is more "Mexican" Spanish , so I have heard that people have said in US word Vallejo same way as Malta guy .

I have Shikishima , Stalingrad , Burgugone , 33k steel & probbably arounf 45k in Christmas , I will get 100% ship with coupon , 2 options for me Incomparable or Ragnar , and Vallejo is just too weak to pay steel for it .

I mean they just took the idea on orbital Worcester and made it a ship with worst dpm and consumables for a bit better shell characteristics

Why would they give it zero utility? One good trait of the US CL line is having both hydro+dfaa (fwiw)... as you say, this is literally helpless against any DD. Hard pass.

Just a heads up, easiest way to pronounce it is "Vall-eh-hoe", for an English speaker. It's named after a city in California.
Unlike the Black that was for steel - this one is not interesting. I'll wait for something on T10.

Why get this over the Worchester?
Over Worcester? None, Worcester is a tech tree and requires no steel/coal/doubs to get, and Worcester has the advantage of having radar and hydro, an extra turret and better reload. Really Worcester is obviously better.
@@MalteseKnight exactly, it just confuses me as why WG would make this a steel ship if the Tech tree ship is better and other steel ships clearly better exist.
The better question is, why get it over the Nevsky? It has the long range plus the radar/hydro, and doesn't sacrifice anything except for flatter shell arcs. Oh and Nevsky gets YOLO torps.
She earns better and she can melt Tier 7 BBs from time to time. That's about it.

I'm late to the party and I'm sure someone has hit you with this already but the city is pronounced "Vah-Lay-Ho" and the proper Spanish pronunciation is "Vay-yay-ho." Take it easy man....BIGFAN.

Not worth steeel. This ship is a nice gun boat but if you have Seattle or Neptune why do you need this? If you have Alaska or Agir, why do you need this ship? Heck, if you have Bayard do you need this ship?
Yeah, keep in mind it’s also for steel, where there are a lot of significantly better ships that are available than it. But yes there are of course other alternatives to it, another one you may have forgotten to mention is the Worcester, which personally I do find better.
22k steel for this.. i dont know what to say. not sayng this ship is bad but i dont think is 22k steel good.
Yeah, steel for this ship is a bit weird, especially since there is a lot of competition for better steel ships, namely Ragnar, Bourgogne and Stalingrad.

As an American city it's pronounced Vuh-Lay-Ho. Yes it's Spanish in origin but so is the T5 Premium American battleship Texas and no one calls her Tay-Hoss.

I grew up 20- miles from Vallejo. It is pronounced Va-le-ho.
According to spanish speakers, in the spanish language it's actually pronounced different, but for English speakers, it's pronounced how you said it!

Man every single steal ship that has been added to the game before this one is unique in a way but I honestly dont see the point of this thing like the black and nusrtashy or however you type that had their gimmicks this one is just a bad build that you cant change but you can get it and better on a free ship if you are brain damaged

Wargaming seem to be getting lazy with the camos on premiums lately. How hard is to give a ship a standard pattern. Boring camos dissapoint.
Premium ships always use historical camouflages, or camouflage schemes that were used for a certain year
Yeah even though it’s pretty boring, that it’s one tone, I believe it’s because it’s date accurate on what camos some of these ships would’ve actually worn at that time, as replied by Drew. I would also prefer nicer looking camos though so I get your disappointment.
@@MalteseKnight Yes I now get that and appreciate the education. The historical factors are fantastic for some, but at the end of the day its an arcade game as well. I think wargaming should provide a selection of two camos on premiums, an historic option and a non historic (standard pattern from the other camos in the tech line - not hard to do). Cost also shouldn' be a factor here by providing the option for an existing camo in the line; also noting that camos are now just skins with the econonomic bonuses separated.
There are better vallejos out there, called: Roon+lutjens, Saint louis(the tier 9). 0 utility is a no no in the destroyer, cv and submarine meta. Bastards could have gave it at least a 100% defensive fire, make it strong against cv but no. I have to believe that this ship is nothing but steel bait, a future coal ship that is now in early access for steel. Also tier 9.....very fun facing satsumas, condes, annapolis etc. VERY FUN AND FAIR.

Well, yeah, like I say it’s a steel ship, therefore it’s a tough sell for most. If you play loads of competitive and have an almost unending (100k or over) amount of steel like me and some people I know, they’ll get it regardless, but obviously for those people who don’t have that amount of steel which are the majority, I talk about steel ships you should probably be looking into before even looking at this, such as Ragnar, Bourgogne and Stalingrad, to mention a few of the many I mention in the video itself.
