Gaga wrote this song originally for Britney Spears but Gaga ended up keeping it for her own album. Its about how she felt suffocated by work, hence all the phone call noises. She just wants to dance and have fun for the night but she has all these work obligations that won’t let her relax. She calls this song her “Fear of Suffocation Monster” from her album The Fame Monster. Every song on that record is about one of her fears.

The budget had to be atleast 3 milli. Just listening to this song again and I’m so stunned by the complexity of the instrumentals. If I was a producer I’d be overwhelmed by that many noises at once but that was the era of pop 🤷🔥
I love the over-the-top story telling and music video budgets that Gaga employed. Gaga's music videos were a fresh injection of life into the state of pop culture at the time.
The song is about wanting to be left alone but your phone keeps bugging you - the video takes this basic idea and paints a reflection of American/global culture where we are being constantly inundated with information - there’s loads of product placement (both real and fake), excessive amounts of food, and American flags (while they dance around the bodies of their victims 🙊).
Marry The Night is her best video in my opinion and she actually wrote/directed it herself. It’s about embracing the darkness in your life and letting it transform you. There’s a kind of Gaga Batman look at one point while she’s on top of a trans am car and the red lights match the soles of her louboutin boots.
It’s also a continuation of the Paparazzi video you guys watched. She was in jail because she killed her boyfriend remember. Beyonce bails her out in this one

u know how u talk about the creative team behind these videos, regarding the looks? i attended the Born This Way Ball Tour, and the creativity in the fans is just... something else. ure amazed by her looks on the videos, uve seen nothing until uve been to one of her tours. at least the ones from when she was this monster of an artist. now everything is pretty chill since every artist tried to rise up to her level when it came to looks and now nobody is special.
I was OBSESSED with this song and music video back in 8th grade. I played it SO MUCH ON REPEAT every day for months!
Fan fact: Lady Gaga gave this song to Britney, Britney recorded a demo, then Britney's team declined the offer, so Gaga finished it and got Beyonce on it too.

Telephone MV is actually the sequel of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi MV. And I remember that the First MV version of telephone in the Cell scene she climbed on her cell door naked and blurred her nether region. And the two guards thought she has a dck which this was relevant to her controversy before that Lady gaga is a dude and she has a dck which is pretty bizarre at that time.. the MV you’ve been watching guys is much more of a cleaner version if im not mistaken
