Lupe might be the most underrated artist in HipHop EVER, not even joking. He's got the radio hits, the thought provoking lyrics the near perfect catalog. He should be in everyone's Top 10 for sure.
"Lupe might be the most underrated artist in HipHop EVER"
no
His music is too conscious provoking thus he will never be a popular artist in this industry period.
I agree
1 LOVE 1 LIGHT He was in the late 00s. Since then rap standards have gone downhill and so did his career.
Hes my number #1 for sure n when i think about it its crazy how even when i was young i.think like 12 or 13 when i first heard him on touch the sky n then kick push i was a fan even though at the time everything went over my head
Dude was way ahead of his time, his songs were unappreciated as moral decadence has eaten deep and eroded the core value of society. Listening to this guy is like reading a book, it begins with a historical background, challenges, realities and ends with a valuable lesson. Simply outstanding.
Bro he's alive
You don't listen to Lupe an come out dumb which is why he's left music aka blackmailed . He was dropping knowledge an a positive mindset
@@riddikssaga he's giving Lupe his flowers 💐 while he's still alive
It’s 2022 and I’m here to say Lupe was times ahead
You must've never listened to a hip hop artist by the name of Tupac Amaru Shakur. If you think Lupe is ahead of his time, give him a try. lol I do love Lupe though.
Looking back at it, Lupe was trying to warn us to what the music industry was trying to do to the culture. He was making great music with messages that stood up to the BS.
He sold out.
@@Go_Coup he sold a lot of records and sold out venues. He's not a sell out. He's pretty much the exact opposite of a sell out.
@@RealAmericanStar , he basically backtracked on the song so that he could be famous. You can find the interview if you want to. The industry wouldn’t support him until he sent the message they wanted him to send, he sent it, and they laughed in his face.
@Go_Coup
Dude what? Lupe is still making intelligent music. What are you talking about
@@Go_Coup explain? idk what are talkin about dumb it down
This song dropped in 2012 making a commentary on the state of hip hop culture and social media... so relevant in 2020

Agreed
This song was also ahead of it's time
This song is a psychology class lesson, and we’re the students. It never gets old. Thanks for this masterpiece Lupe.
It’s like he was telling us a story. This song is so underrated and is definitely a masterpiece
Bro stepped into a time machine and dropped the hardest song of this generation a direct translation of the world we live in today

Still relevant today. Incredible 💯
Everything about this song is happening right now and I think of this song every time I see young girls and it's heartbreaking. Lupe the 🐐
Understand the internet more than their parents
It’s like he was telling us about the future😭
Every modern single mother needs to listen to this song.
The idea of reversing "Bad bitch" to "Bitch bad" is very interesting, as it's works in a way that makes you think it has a negative connotation when really in the hook it's showing what words you should really refer to a woman as to respect them. I like that.
Piña ColAda That's another good way to look at it.
It’s true but bitch mean dog if I’m not mistaken right
@@lisaknight377Exactly. We shouldn't degrade females by calling them dogs.
He said it all, and we didnt pay attention cuz lupe was ahead of his time back when this was contreversial, he came out and exposed the society we dwell today. This song will never die.
He wasn’t ahead of his time. People have been talking about this stuff, for decades.
@@Go_CoupIndeed, but no in the manner in which he put it. The difference between inventing and innovating.

This is a masterpiece! I wish music like this was mainstream. This is what should be winning awards.
Olivia Wonka true
it doesn't work like that, it never did. Everything that's of substance takes effort to find, it can't just be on the surface. Just like God, just like love, one must show commitment to what is meaningful to receive.

Everytime I hear it my skin crawls but this is the first time I watch the video and I had chills the whole time! Exactly bro. He saw it coming. It was common sense and now people acting shocked about it smh. I had this on repeat when it came out
I love how he mentions the word "double entendre,"what he's doing there I feel like is forcing young people to look it up and see what it means. I love Lupé!! He has many "hidden" gems in his music.
"they dont see a payed attress, just what makes a bad b#@%!" #TOO REAL
ikr, that line really struck me

Yep
Actress ... But g shit
It's "A paid actress" both in the song and in the lyrics.
Get this song back in mainstream rotation ASAP!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😭
On repeat still in 2023. This is what they should be playing for these young men and women. Instead of the 7 Rules that’s meant for grown women who have been misguided or taught wrong.

The most intelligent rapper of this time. Big up and lots of love for Lupe. He's a rare kind of rapper. One with BRAIN.
Probably the most profound rap song of the last 5 years. I played this for people in their 50's and 60's and their jaws dropped. He summed up the feeling everyone had but could never completely contextualize. This dude is a real asset.
This young man has to be in the top ten of deepest lyricists in the hip hop scene. Truly a deep brother.

I will never understand why he doesn't get the credit he deserves.
Because he doesn’t play their game.
Cause he didn’t dumb it down
Ask yourself who owns the record labels. You really think these ignorant rappers make it to the top from organic demand? Its media sponsored propaganda. These are the most influential forms of programming. People really gotta be stupid to not understand the amount of power in media. They arent gonna let just anyone have power over the human mind
@@dukes1993724he did dumb it down that 1 time😂💪🏾
Lupe's vocab is one of the best I've heard.
I am glad that REAL HIP-HOP rappers is still going with songs like this. Lupe Fiasco keep doing your thang.
Listen to his other song 'Next To It' your whole view of him changes....
keziah moses He is human and allowed to be complex. Why can he not like ghetto shit and still be conscious? Pac was the same way. We Aquariuses are complex and are mentally open to everything. We observe, dissect and feed back knowledge from any source. We are true over thinkers.
"Next To It" is actually very lyrical!! The imagery and wordplay of it are just amazing. Listen to it again
U right on that one bro Fareal though, I agree most definitely because we are the most underrated, misunderstood and outspoken ones of the zodiac ..
I was born 1/26/94
Lupe brought me here because we share many similarities ..
i hate that term "real hip hop" what does that even mean??
This is one of the best songs Hip Hop has ever produced. LF is a gifted and talented artist that stays under the radar instinctively because of his gifts. Thanks Lupe, Hip Hop needs you ✊🏿
This is my first time ever hearing this song. Yes I am young... I absolutely LOVE IT! I have 3 daughters and I do not want them to fall into the image of this world of trying to be a "bad bitch" I want them cherish their selves and their bodies and this is the perfect song to help encourage our young girls in this manic world! This song is a true master piece.
Thank you. 🧠
Lupe is living proof Hip-Hop still has purpose and is far from dead. We NEED more artists like this.
damn this song brought a tear to my eye, great visual. the best piece of art I've seen/heard in a long time.
Felt the same. Really a masterpiece.
Then you should listen to I Wayne -can't satisfy her
Crazy how these tracks stay off the Main "Streams" that flows to the minds of Millions....
People just don’t think when they listen to music. They enjoy the beat/sound more than anything.
People slept on and still sleeping on Lupe. Watch "Mural" live, interview of Ty Dolla $ign saying how "Next To It" was basically Lupe freestylin' in the studio, his song and video of "Words I Never Said." Dude made a song called "Dumb It Down" as a reference to what producers wanted him to do to make his music sell. Also check out a lyrics breakdown of "Gotta Eat."
Utterly brilliant. We need FAR more of this type of Hip Hop!
This gave me chills ... WOW !
yap, i bet it gave bitch.
Yeah it did the same for me when I first saw it.
This was a warning. No one listened 🤦🏿
I swear Lupe could have been a noble prize winning physicist.
the young today need to hear this more than ever
spartan001191 bruh u serious
Honestly.
I've heard that the youth of today is conservative and moral, and they don't treat sex like a greeting. If this is true, all of it has happened despite the 'mainstream' and Hollywood pushing all of their bullshit. So, just imagine how life could be if the content that doesn't glorify crime, violence, and sexual promiscuity flourished.
spartan001191 I fell in love with this song some years ago
facts
Silento's "Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae" video reached 47 million views in 3 weeks.
Lupe's "Bitch Bad" video reached 4 million views in nearly 3 years.
...
That's accurate. Don't see nothing wrong with that it's a dance showing popular dances while this only talks truth
+colddust21 no body wants to hear the truth
+Mitchell Martin eh
To each man his own
And that is the problem
Listening to this in 2020 makes me realize how prophetic this song was.
Heard this song on shade 45 in 2013. 11 yrs later it still goes hard and have a strong message.
After seeing this, you wish all explicit videos had 'paid actress' disclaimers clearly and simply written for kids to acknowledge & understand.
Big up to LUPE one of hip-hop's legends.
The Symbolism is deep with this one.
Symbolism? Are you kidding? The message is explicitly stated in the lyrics. It's not at all subtle.
Stephen Hotaling shut up and stop hating son
Stephen Hotaling this flew right over your head..
Jean Moke my man I think you misunderstood Stephen
Abdulkadir Ahmed I understood him pretty well actually, my comment was a sarcastic one and he blatantly pointed out the message being superficious (superficious in this case meaning its "explicitly stated") which everyone and their respective guardians had a revelation about upon hearing this piece of musical genius
This is the type of conscious music we need today
this song explains everything about social media culture today... whew!
That and CULTURE period.

This is something missing in 2015!

A decade later this song is more relevant than ever.
I just noticed how the movie theatre is a metaphor for perspective. First, we see it filled with clones of himself i.e. multiple perspectives and naive like young boy would be. Then we see him sitting by himself i.e. one perspective. You could think about it as being open minded versus close minded. Finally, the fact that he's in a theatre watching is an allegory for what you're teaching as a parent can limit your child's perspective as movies can. Lupe a straight genius lol this shits deep!
We each have a movie theatre in our minds. What we play and tune into is what we become.
Why does this not have more views? This is incredible.
This is one of the greatest Hip-hop songs ever made. We need more. We keep destroying each other
Most underrated song ever.
He low key went to college and majored in psychology
That's hot lol ! I love that course

@@TheReck12 that was a joke

This is such a powerful song. Our generation is so confused when it comes to the dignity of our women (and men alike) partly because of the messages in music. This goes to show the psychological power that music can possess not just over an individual but of a generation. #HighlightTheHOPE
Bars and a message!! Sadly, he'll never get the respect he deserves. EASILY, top 5 lyrically
I was thinking bout how much I love Lupe, and needing to revisit. And now here we are, starting the day with a deeply layered masterpiece
Only 3 million views... I feel the powers in the music industry are trying to drown out powerful messages from people like Lupe Fiasco.
Don't blame it on the industry, music fans have all the power to click on and support whatever they want, but most of the time they support trash.
I feel the same way. The voices making sense aren't funded and pushed the same as trash and disrespect and boofoonaree is it a form of brainwashing.
yep
Ppl just aren't paying attention to the best artist alive
ADAJ3 Except the industry doesn't promote this music. You can't click on what you can't find. Hence why OP says they're drowning it out.
This should've been a highly rewarded song in 2012. It should have been the same in 2013. When music like this goes unheard, it hurts my heart.
FfejTball they dislike truth speaking like lowkey , Lupe fiasco , immortal techniques
I was one of those little girls that hes talking about. I still remember when my older brother played this song for me and I thought he was corny af. Now it's 10+ years later, and I'm trying to unlearn all the BS that society has fed me.
Bigs up
Lupe forever conscios👑 I just can't stop listening to this song this is so deep. Much love from South Africa 🌻🌞🌈🇿🇦
@PerfectBergers Hello there. No I did not loot, my side of town was quiet 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This should have a billions views
I don't know where I have been! When music became digital and over commercialised I fell off. I used to buy albums weekly and I loved lupe from the beginning but got lost. I recently just heard this song, the video never came out in England and I'm just so happy it crossed my path eventually! Lupe has always been ahead of his time a poet/teacher/knowledge sharing realist! what I look for and connect with! this song is sooo incredibly deep and accurate! From the top to the bottom! The beat is crazy too! As a people a black people we are so lost wherever you look from Africa to America to the Caribbean to England! There is no unity and real progression. Some are aware and strive for better and know better but too few to make an impact! When Obama won and I met him here I cried and my friends didn't understand why I was so bothered? It was because of his journey his roots in Africa what he symbolised what he represented globally the hope for CHANGE a hope that we an average person a person of colour could be equal could be whatever they wanted.
Now back to lupe this song shows the lack of education respect amongst our own selves. You can look all around the world and see how we are still enslaved and separated probably more than ever because it's accepted by us without a fight! It shames me how we divide ourselves through class, colour and country not realising we are one! The over sexualised under valued, divided norm need for separation from our original form with weave, make up change of attitude, surgery and ghetto ness nonchalant killing and poverty we live as a people with lack of regard to help our own but burning desire to conform and fit the commercial world not made and inclusive of us yet using and profiting far more than we ever will! Relationships and unity in there simplest forms are becoming non existent. If ever a man called me a bitch, bad bitch, boss bitch, queen bitch I would never be accepting or acknowledge it as a compliment ! Same with being called a ni&&er even by a black person because of the million units of blood shed and lives lost just to be called human! It's a clever system destroying and distorting the women that will obviously reproduce and majority of the time left alone to continue the cycle because they are the first and main example ..WAKE UP!
has to be one of the best videos I have ever seen!!! message, storytelling, lyrical skills, Lupe is a true MC.
Crazy how this song is still relevant to this day.
It will probably always be.
I don't remember the last time I had to check the dictionary to understand the lyrics to a rap song. I am impressed, Mr. Lupe. You are amazing.
Lupe is AMAZING yet so underrated! People sleep on him but he is the truth in the booth!!!
This man proof that intelligent tap is pushed aside by the machine for stuff that dumbs people down!!!
That's truth
Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick Lamar, and J Cole are the realest rappers in my opinion. Their rapping actually has meaning and stories behind it.
And logic...
***** yes and logic, they are also my top 3 favorite rappers of the 21st century. In that order listed.
What about Kid Cudi?
QSRebelClan lets not forget em tho
***** Add Mick Jenkins and Joey Bada$$ and that's a solid group.
The most ironic thing about this song is that it's debunking the use of a certain word, but it's probably destroying its chances of getting noticed by more people because they're afraid "OH MY GOSH HE USED THE WORD 'BITCH' IN HIS SONG! I DON'T GIVE A HECK ABOUT WHAT THE SONG IS TRYING TO CONVEY, HE CANNOT BE ON THE RADIO."
It's a shame, because Lupe is legitimately deserving of more fame. I guarantee you that if he were to die tomorrow, people would be clamoring over his music saying it was the greatest shit ever Michael Jackson-style, constantly kicking themselves over not appreciating this man until it was too late.
It's not too late, damnit.
The part of the video where it shows the "thug" character dressed like a 1930s black stereotype is a brilliant juxtaposition.
***** Might as well be

I just realized that Paul Robeson is the man mentioned at the end of the video. That shit is deep considering that I attended an HBCU with our performing arts/theater building named after him. My heart hurts because I didn’t know he endured blackface to be known 🥺😭💔
The dude is so underrated its not even funny. His music videos, lyrics, and songs are and always have been so far beyond the normal person's comprehension. it's a shame. should get a ton more credit. this has 4 million views, then every retarded song in the book has 500 mill.

+Contre Courant Lupe gave away his message in this song and most of the alblum, except for Form Follows Function. I guarantee you there are much better songs than this one, but I understand that everyone have different tastes.
+Owen Wu true, we all have different tastes... english is not my native language and sometimes it's hard for me to understand the subtle message in lupe s song. however, I also really like forms follow functions... but bitch bad is very explicit and lu doesn't beat around the bush. FnL2 is by far my favorite album of lupe fiasco, and the last one is the one I like the least. peace.
+Contre Courant His last one? Tetsuo and Youth? Too deep for you?
Kenon Lattimore Yes, it is my friend. I am French and English isn't my mother tongue, therefore i find hard to understand the compexity of Lupe's lyrics, the double entendre, the references, the play on words in Testsuo & Youth. peace.
It's painful how underrated Lupe is. His music has so much weight.
Cam Newton said everything Lupe rapped about in this song
How have I not heard this before ? This is the kind of music I want to hear on the radio when I am driving not some shit about wasting rent money to get fucked up or something about "Bad Bitches" unless the message is something along the lines like this
