Dude was way ahead of his time, his songs were unappreciated as moral decadence has eaten deep and eroded the core value of society. Listening to this guy is like reading a book, it begins with a historical background, challenges, realities and ends with a valuable lesson. Simply outstanding.

I just noticed how the movie theatre is a metaphor for perspective. First, we see it filled with clones of himself i.e. multiple perspectives and naive like young boy would be. Then we see him sitting by himself i.e. one perspective. You could think about it as being open minded versus close minded. Finally, the fact that he's in a theatre watching is an allegory for what you're teaching as a parent can limit your child's perspective as movies can. Lupe a straight genius lol this shits deep!

I don't know where I have been! When music became digital and over commercialised I fell off. I used to buy albums weekly and I loved lupe from the beginning but got lost. I recently just heard this song, the video never came out in England and I'm just so happy it crossed my path eventually! Lupe has always been ahead of his time a poet/teacher/knowledge sharing realist! what I look for and connect with! this song is sooo incredibly deep and accurate! From the top to the bottom! The beat is crazy too! As a people a black people we are so lost wherever you look from Africa to America to the Caribbean to England! There is no unity and real progression. Some are aware and strive for better and know better but too few to make an impact! When Obama won and I met him here I cried and my friends didn't understand why I was so bothered? It was because of his journey his roots in Africa what he symbolised what he represented globally the hope for CHANGE a hope that we an average person a person of colour could be equal could be whatever they wanted.
Now back to lupe this song shows the lack of education respect amongst our own selves. You can look all around the world and see how we are still enslaved and separated probably more than ever because it's accepted by us without a fight! It shames me how we divide ourselves through class, colour and country not realising we are one! The over sexualised under valued, divided norm need for separation from our original form with weave, make up change of attitude, surgery and ghetto ness nonchalant killing and poverty we live as a people with lack of regard to help our own but burning desire to conform and fit the commercial world not made and inclusive of us yet using and profiting far more than we ever will! Relationships and unity in there simplest forms are becoming non existent. If ever a man called me a bitch, bad bitch, boss bitch, queen bitch I would never be accepting or acknowledge it as a compliment ! Same with being called a ni&&er even by a black person because of the million units of blood shed and lives lost just to be called human! It's a clever system destroying and distorting the women that will obviously reproduce and majority of the time left alone to continue the cycle because they are the first and main example ..WAKE UP!

The most ironic thing about this song is that it's debunking the use of a certain word, but it's probably destroying its chances of getting noticed by more people because they're afraid "OH MY GOSH HE USED THE WORD 'BITCH' IN HIS SONG! I DON'T GIVE A HECK ABOUT WHAT THE SONG IS TRYING TO CONVEY, HE CANNOT BE ON THE RADIO."
It's a shame, because Lupe is legitimately deserving of more fame. I guarantee you that if he were to die tomorrow, people would be clamoring over his music saying it was the greatest shit ever Michael Jackson-style, constantly kicking themselves over not appreciating this man until it was too late.
    It's not too late, damnit.
