"Gay?"
"Pull a block..."
It was the group laugh before he announced Spencer had to pull for me. He was like haha! Funny! Now let's see if you die because of it :)
"Oh my god it fell."
"As you say it, gurgling sounds come from the side of the car."
52:06 for the iconic start of spencer forced to pull for his cosmic wrongs XD
Making Spencer pull a block for saying “Gay” was hilarious
That was epic 😂
that was such a Mature Elder Brother kinda thing to do 😂
In the words of Eminem's newest song: "LIKE HAPPY!"
In the words of Tommy Bowe's oldest shirt: "(Non-Derogatory)"
When ??
52:08 with context
The fact spencer cost them an entire car for a 2002 women driver joke. LOL
that was hilarious fr

She’s doing it for us
I’m so, so glad Smosh decided to showcase non D&D systems. It’s pretty cool. It’s opening their fanbase to other, less well known parts of the hobby.
Agreed, though I do really hope we get more D&D at some point too
As a D&D player I agree, this system is very cool as well and I would not have known about it
It's cool cause I've always found classic ttrpg systems kind of hard to grasp, this is a cool alternative
Yes! I hope they do others.

Okay, but can we talk about how great a DM George is? He laughs along with the group, he allows for flashbacks, but at the same time, every time he asks them to remove a block my heart sinks
GM*
@@louisst-amand9207 dungeon master game master it doesn't matter what you call it no need to be so pedantic
He isn't. He railroads quite often and gives a lot of information away to the players for free. He's very friendly and seemingly easy to engage, unless you make a not-so-PC joke, whereupon he punishes the player arbitrarily. He's mid at best.
@@Stormocity respectfully disagree
@@Stormocity So,,, a GM who railroads for newbie players, easy to engage, and only punishes for not-so-PC jokes,, is mid?? What do you defined as a good GM then?
Whoever did the audio queues and background music for this video ATE
Also, the GM is so good making the background sounds and characters too. They fit each other so well
It reminds me of the Sword AF videos. I’d listen on Spotify and there was always a nice bed of music, along with sound effects thrown in. It always helped the atmosphere.
fr. they ate and left no crumbs.
FR BECAUSE THE LITTLE MOAN WHEN SHAYNE WAS EXPLAINING HIS CHARACTER AND SAID “he finishes”?!?
George was one of them
This story is genuinely terrifying to me. The sound cues on the eerie moments and all of the tension of the jenga pulls had me squirming. But I absolutely am loving these characters and their dynamics already! The world building is great so far. And everyone is doing a really awesome job at bringing things to life.
Right!! I love these types of videos it’s really giving me dimension 20 vibes but more simplified! I’m loving itttt

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
Especially in a world where a lot of media is becoming more and more short form.

Man, the thumbnail is so unassuming, but this was some of the best atmospheric storytelling, setting the mood and slowly increasing tension I've seen in a while.
Seriously this needs a more attention-grabing thumbnail because you are in for so much more...This needs to pop tf off cuz it is amazingly well done so far.
exactly what I was thinking. It popped up in my recommended a few days ago and I didn't click because I didn't want to watch them play Jenga 😂 Then I saw the second video and noticed it was a series and got intrigued. So glad I clicked though because I absolutely loved this video
RIGHTT im so invested now
I clicked it on a whim not knowing it was a rules-lite horror TTRPG. THIS IS SO GOOD
the background ambience really makes this so immersive. BIG shout out to editors for adding those sound effects and ambience and music to really bring it together! I'm already obsessed with this
So psyched to see what 30 year olds role playing as 20 year olds during a year when they would’ve been 10 year olds is like. Let’s go!

George saying "Pull a block" after Spencer said "gay" was so fucking funny
Dude the tension that a JENGA tower adds is incredible. Thrilled to see what happens to the gang. I'm so concerned for them.
"Maybe not Kappa Kappa Kappa." God I love how it feels like Amanda turns off her cognitive brain and just exists when she's improvising, but it walks her into weird spots (Scooby-Doo over Flintstones)
That whole bit killed me. Especially since she also mentioned her dad owning a Banana Company and I immediately thought "oh so we are also financiers of Latin American extremist groups? It was just a lasagna of weird 😂😂😂
Just to add, I'm not blaming Amanda, I just found it sincerely hilarious how she basically had the improv moral equivalent of tripping and falling down the stairs.
i hear they hosted Krusty’s Komedy Klassic live at the Apollo
To be fair as a 24 year old I didn't know how bad banana farming treated people till a friend that worked alongside the locals told me about our to chakita being the best one but try to support local!

no but actually holy SHIT. this has to be the most visceral horror we've EVER gotten on smosh games right?? i love it!! George clearly knows what the fuck he's doing
George’s dedicated DnD podcast Hero Club has a couple horror-centric seasons!!
54:36 He’s truly such a great match for the cast and his PROFESSIONALISM I MEAN HE HAD ME AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT THE WHOLE TIME
This was SO GOOD. It deserves a more attention-grabbing thumbnail or something because you truly do not know what you are in for on first impression. This is dramatic, immersive, tense and actually spooky.
I was thinking that as well!
Agreed! I only came here from the fan art they posted! I'd seen the thumbnail days ago, and very incorrectly assumed it would be kinda boring. But I'm so invested rn!
A game set in the early 2000’s that involves knocking over a tower? Love it

Good thing they didn't make it take place in 2011, that might have been a bit insensitive

@@shaeisgae8952 right, cuz back then we were all busy thinking about something else
"You're gonna die of misogyny"
Lmfao
shayne's decision to brave the zombie apocalypse in piss jeans is fantastic
Imagine a long form game like this or something in the realm of DnD where they start off with 4 characters, but when a character dies, another Smosh cast member replaces them with their character. Week after week following an ultimate adventure. Say Courtney dies, then Arasha takes her place in next week's video with her character until we've gone through everyone at Smosh in a grand story adventure. Deaths would mean something and no telling which cast member team ups we would get. I think that could be sick and give content for months
I was thinking that as well. You could even mix systems up and play a series through and then have those characters move on to play another game or their descendents. Making it an ongoing story but in "segments" where people could watch it as an isolated series as well! So many possibilities!!
YES
Shayne's character unexpectedly might be the survival expert of this group lmao
My prediction is Bernardo will sacrifice himself to save the group
Bernardo is lowkey the smartest
"Seen this once on survivor" headass 😂
i predict brodie dies first, then savannah, then bernard(o) ends up leaving them behind and we find out he survived on his own in some remote location.
i also predict the popular girls dad is gonna eat her alive
@@milkpillesmilkpilles3042honestly, good prediction. typical shayne. just like how they said at the smosh house they all stayed in he slept in the entryway so that if there was an intruder he would be the first to go 💀

Amanada’s style of character creation is so perfect for these ttrpgs it’s so fun to watch
The fact that they decided that a water rugby player has weak legs is wild.
It's one of the most leg focused sports there is.
I think it was water polo not rugby
@@reeghanarp3547 Oh, you are indeed correct.
Still, the point stands, water polo is arguably even more leg focused.
Never knew Jenga had a story mode.
it's a TTRPG (Table Top Role-playing Game) called Dread
This is such a funny and perfect phrasing!
"We are actually going to finally finish our game of jenga next week! Been playing this round of jenga for 4 months!"
Noobs who don't know about story mode: 🤨
Shayne's library of character names:
Co-workers (Spencer Agnew)
Relatives (aunt caroline)
Berns (Bernie, Bernardo)
don't forget the Reubens
Also, Courtney freaking Miller. Now 2/3.

I also feel like Bernardo fits into a category of Spanish character names (he has a character named Francisco the Sex Captain)
@@emptylittleheart Was my first thought as well!
bernardo the type of guy to have a bubble over his head when he's thinking
Not me holding my breath with every pull like MY breathing is going to knock the tower over 😂
Spencer: Trying to recall 2000's songs and references.
Amanda: sticking hard to character
Shayne: fixating on plot
Courtney: all of the above
George: what did I get myself into...
This is genuinely one of my favorite role-playing experiences.
It's just one of those days😢
I have suddenly forgotten all the names to Limp Bizkit songs.

Halo 1 just came out, smash hit Vince Vaughn movies Dodgeball and Wedding Crashes just came out, Red Bull just came out, all the cars have manually cranked windows, people like Nickleback...
*all of those things are happening at the same time* 🤣🤣🤣
Holy damn the chemistry between DM and players is amazing already, episode felt like 20 minutes and was so stressful towards the end my god. Glorious.
George and Shayne both singing the same part of the same Nickelback song at the same time was hilarious 🤣😂 I had to rewind back over it to see if they had maybe done it on purpose, nope lol
Same! I played it so many times looking at everyones faces!!
It's such a testament to how well George's chemistry is with this group.
amanda was born to play role playing games and i will not elaborate further
To play them and not understand them
You don’t need to. We all know what you mean
No need
The Amanda RP multiverse slaps in an absolutely insane way
Amanda in Betrayal Legacy??? Legend
when George describes the scenery i feel like i'm actually there man it's an honor to witness him work
45:54 Shayne's joke about where the "milk" was coming from was severely overlooked lol
I never thought that pulling Jenga blocks could be so tense 😭
Dread is a fantastic game. You should check it out.
Wil Wheaton ran a game of this on Tabletop a long time ago. Great video.
Dread is an amazing game.
@SapphireDragon357 Agreed. I saw it on Tabletop years ago and it's been in my regular game rotation since. Plus this seems like an original story idea so I'm excited to see where it goes.
@@rdp16rulez I'm definitely glad they went the original story route instead of the werewolf one I've seen played a few times (including on Tabletop).
George is a PHENOMENAL storyteller and improviser who can perfectly balance hilarious comedy and genuine spine chilling gut wrenching horror, he's like a new Brennan Lee Mulligan in the making and he's still so young in his GM career can't wait to see more of him
I was thinking the same thing! I've never heard of him before, but I was noticing a lot of Mercer-like mannerisms (Mercerisms?) in his narration.
The sound effect @11:04 when Shayne says "and then he finishes" 💀the editors are diabolical
Really liked George! Absolutely fantastic prompting. Did a great job at keeping the improv on narrative but allowed it to shine! Absolutely excellent work and an incredibly funny video.
Excited to see another episode if possible! :)
The jenga tower makes it so stressful because as a GM you can kind of fudge something for the sake of story but with the jenga tower all bets are off and fate is in your hands
That's why when I play Dread I give the players one tower fall that isn't fatal. It's not good, usually it's some sort of injury, but it gives them a little more time to think and plan things out.
@@rdp16rulez I'd probably have like two Jenga towers, one for fatal and one for consequences. (Probably on two separate tables to avoid domino Jenga)
@@blakewhite3131what if there was like a fatality Jenga tower and like a card deck for consequences?
So you only pull from the tower when things are dangerous (table shakes still count ofc) but then you can have the player pull a card from the deck and move forward depending how high or low it was, or if it was a royal card or joker even 👀
Just spitballing here but it kinda sounds fun
A good DM doesn't fudge
@@Steve-Fiction a good DM fudges well. Sometimes for the enjoyment of the game, you need to bend the rules.
courtney naming their character “savannah” is the best thing to happen to savannahs in a while.

Love that their characters are the cast of Scooby Doo. Gracie is Daphne, Savannah is Velma, Brady is Fred, and Bernardo is Shaggy.
When Spencer and Savannah went into the DQ and he was saying he was gonna use the friend approach to get with Gracie, it reminded me so much of the live action Scooby Doo movies and the weird throuple energy Velma, Daphne, and Fred had.
Loving this early 2000’s horror flick so far!!
oh my god this george guy is a good storyteller, not only does he know how to create a chilling, yet funny story for everyone. but he plays into everybody’s bits and uses them in the story. so excited for next episode
Oh my lord why was that bull SO CREEPY?? I didn't think the idea of not-blinking animals would be that unsettling!!!
Nah because that almost weeping angel type description of it getting closer and closer scared me
The zombies being able to talk is so fucking scary
The mental image of the talking zombie vomiting the worms at the car window while demanding a ride actually got me...gets to show you how immersive and well done this is made.
AND SO ARE THE WORMS!!! I don’t like scary 😭

I'm usually not super into this kind of stuff but George's story telling and the sound editing was top notch!! Can't wait to see the next episode!
The audio and added sounds make this SO immersive, much appreciated!
“It’s like spin the bottle…but for death”. I love Courtney so much
whenever shayne brought up bernardo had a unicycle i was like "that was such a shayne topp character choice"
I like how George is just crying laughing whenever Shayne talks lol
so so good! george is an awesome GM, and i love his commitment to the zombie genre without making it one-to-one like zombie stories we've heard before. also obsessed with the punishment pulls for saying batshit insane stuff, that really sold it for me :)

i love when shayne plays the idiot or naive character in a group, because he picks up on what's happening and what they may need to do. But with his character he can't say what he discovers. Fernie and Barnardo have my heart. but if shayne played an intelligent character, he would be OP!!
Very true. I think it's kind of his way to make sure he doesn't go too hard. Because if he played a character that was very smart and grounded, I think he might get too in to the play choices and stress. So making a character that will prompt him to do what's the funniest or most in character makes sense for a youtube video where part of the deal is to be entertaining
i almost feel like it’s more creative to choose a dumber option; i watch tons of horror and we all meta game that shit. but it’s fun to purposefully obtuse, i love this series already !!
