that first album was probably their best, the melodic work from stratton was genius, his input into phantom of the opera says it all. That first album had that unrefined raw feeling and the songs are just very catchy, fantastic album and imo i agree, very much under rated
It's a solid debut album. It's a shame what happened to Paul. I have the old 98 remaster of the debut on repeat in my car. Don't need Spotify and Bluetooth when a landmark album is in my stereo.
the first 2 maiden albums and maiden japan are their best stuff dont get me wrong what came after is great too but the d'ianno stuff is where its at total punk edge to them that they lost when bruce joined up
Has to be one of the best metal riffs ever laid down, but I guess that becomes a long list when you start talking Maiden. Sensational band that have outlasted literally thousands of their contemporaries.
They are, without a shadow of a doubt, the best live band in the world. I was never really a big Maiden fan.. until Ozzfest 2005 when they blew every other band off the stage (including Sabbath) and converted me. I've seen them 3 times since then and every time they sounded amazing. Seeing Fear of the Dark during a lunar eclipse in Holland a few years back was as close to a religious experience as I've ever had. Most metal bands "lose it" as they age but Maiden has continued to be as good as ever.

What a show, what a band and what a brilliant, amazing performance by the Gods of heavy metal, or any metal....Theese giants are glowing on stage, and their charisma and stage presence are indeed incredible....Simply the best, ever......
A sensational performance !!! I´ve seen so many comments saying that Paul was better, but could anything be better than this ?? This is EPIC....the fierze power, the thrilling music, and their punchy, furious, and passionate performance says it all, the Iron Maiden, the demons of metal music !!!!
This Prowler song sanctioned the birth of Iron Maiden in 1980, they opened the Kiss concert on 9 September 1980 at the Vigorelli in Milan, and after 55 years I listen to them every day. I've seen them 20 times across Europe. I'm waiting for 2025 for the big event 50 fi Maiden Maiden Maiden Maiden Maiden 🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁🎤🌈☮🔥🌎🔥🌍🔥🌏🔥
I don't get why people find the idea that Paul did it better insulting to Bruce. They're different styles. Prowler was written for a gravelly sneer, not an epic roar.
Derp Herp it´s not insulting to Bruce in any way, but this performance really solved a BIG mystery to me....I was there when theese guys first appeared, and I´ve been asking myself why I didn´t like them from the beginning. And now I know, I didn´t like the voice of Paul at all. I really discovered them two years ago and I love the voice of Bruce aswell as Blaze, but for the life of me, I simply can´t stand the voice of Paul, at all.
susanne williamsson I didn't know about Paul when I first heard Maiden which was 1984 - their Piece of Mind album. This is my first time to hear Bruce on this song; it just doesn't sound the same. As another viewer commented his voice just seems too refined for this one, but I believe he is great on Wratchild, Murdes in the Rue Morgue, and Phantom of the Opera. I think that Paul was great for their more raw sound on the first two albums. Have you ever seen this live version of "Remember Tomorrow" from the Killers tour? I think Paul is superb here. It seemed like he had a voice that could from a kitten to a tiger. For his sake, I wish that Paul could have taken care of himself as well as Bruce has. czcams.com/video/_IW5udGAjyo/video.html

So I´m what you can call a new Maiden fan, but to be honest I´m turning into a Maiden fanatic !!!
Di'Anno and Bruce are both amazing. But Bruce is my personal pick. His voice sounds more epic to me and I like that. I will say one thing, though. Blaze sucks ass and can go fuck off.
Just listen, you feel the passion, fire, flame don´t you ? Look at theese gorgeous guys, glowing on stage, they don´t perform they live it....I just love this version of this epic song, why shouldn´t I ? Iron Maiden are totally in a league of their own !!
THIS is power, fury and a simply incredible performance !! The Gods of metal are the ultimate band, and no one else even comes close to their musical capabilitys...
Bruce Dickinson is a FANTASTIC vocalist with a huge range but the first album was written with a rawer hard-edged darker atmosphere in which Paul Di Anno's voice worked perfectly... In his prime Di Anno was also a fantastic vocalist able to reach high notes if needed but his trademark was his deeper gravelly ( and melodic ) voice... As much as I like and admire Dickinson this song wasn't his finest moment but it's not his fault...This was written with/ for Di Anno...
Was listening to this cd in my vintage car yesterday, but the old cars got the loudest stereo you’d ever imagine n when it’s cranked up the whole of my city-Newcastle can hear it! Maiden fir ever brothers n sisters!🤘🤘

I would agree that this is the rare song that Paul did much better. Along with Killers, and (surprisingly) Remember Tomorrow It's probably his best work. While Bruce dwarfs him in every way, Bruce's voice is too...I'll go with...refined for prowler.
Charlie Gray I´ve been on an Iron Maiden marathon for quite some time and I think I´ve heard and seen all their material, and I honestly think this version is far better, in my opinion at least....
