    Diggin’ basements is dirty work.... getting them exactly right is Dirt Perfect work.
    Totin’ the dirt over the far hill is a great way for NYA Millennial to learn how to be well above average! And, MBTS to steal a scene or two!

      Not many houses in Texas have basements, Just crawl spaces or a single car garage.
      Coming from East Tennessee most every house had a basement. I would love to have a basement. My current house if dug out to street level, I think a full standup basement could be achieved. The 3 houses North of me are higher than mine and they drag bumpers going in and out in anything less than a truck.

    excellent vid, I really enjoyed you laying out the thought process regarding hauling the 850 in. sometimes bigger is NOT the most efficient.
    with that being said, if you knew then what you know now, would you have chosen to incur the transport fees (I ask this NOT knowing what those fees would be) and let MBTS run the 850? in all honesty I THINK you would have kept up with him and avoided needing the skidsteer. but those fees may offset any gains.
    you explaining this type of stuff is a huge (to me) bonus in your vids. not just the work but the thought processes behind it. well done guys.

Can you explain how you calculate your top of footing from finish floor? Can you explain how you quote/bid some of your projects?
    Also as a suggestion for general info, consider a manufacturer tour of any equipment & or products you use!!!
    Looks like most of your work is residential!! Do you do any Commercial work?

  • @JDseller1
    @JDseller1 Před 3 lety

    Mike You just needed to "borrow" that baby dozer at the bottom of the hill. LOL You would have had to dig faster then. I feel for you when you hit rock layers that are not running like you need them too. Luckily it was soft rock. Here we have mostly hard limestone. So it is either blast or grind if you need to go deeper.
    My son's house was supposed to be two foot lower in the ground. We hit a layer of flat limestone. It was cheaper to just bring in back fill around the house rather than try to dig deeper. The funny thing is that limestone layer was within two inches of being perfectly flat.

    Does that dozer have 2 speeds! I think you are correct with your dozer assessment. The small blade pushing a long distance would be a struggle to start but as you move closer to the hill the push becomes shorter. Jerry would have worked but the experience that was gained by Matt and Aaron working the dozer is way more beneficial to you for the future. The best experience is the one gained by actually doing the work.

    It would be interesting to see how many buckets or yards per hour the skid steer can move compared to the D4G. The skid steer moves much faster but moves less dirt. I bet the dozer is a better producer for the hourly cost to operate. Looks like an interesting job. They just finished a 30 plus foot tall ICF church building around the corner from my place.
