    Hi man nice video.
    A question thought.
    The little hole on the oil pan that connect via a tube to the water pump, what uses it has? i mean i didn't see that you used it for drain or something, so what it does?
    Thanks.

    Thank you so much for showing the detail of all this. I have 05 first gen Fz1 and I have a noise that I can't locate. This is helping me to think about options of what it might be at how to get at it. The first gen and second gen are fairly similar I'd guess, though their is some sort of exploding stator problem with the gen 2. Are you thinking about changing that on your gen 2?

      Thank you! I appreciate that! I enjoy making these videos! Very time consuming tho. I’ll have a bunch of new videos out soon going back together. And when it comes to the stator problem. I actually replaced it already with the OEM redesigned one. And also had to replace the bearings with it. Not too bad of a job to do.

    You dont need to take the centerstand off! A bent 90 degree allen key fits, even the one that came with the bike tools! Gonna try to do it without taking off the clutch too

      The only reason I really had to take the center stand off was to be able to use my torque wrench when going back together. I don't know of a way to torque it with an L shaped Allen wrench. Please let me know if you are able to do it without pulling the clutch basket! That would save a whole bunch of time! I already had my clutch apart for other reasons, so it just made sense to do it the way I did. I know the slack in the chain seems, to me at least, like a ton! So I think its definitely possible. The amount of slack in that chain on these bikes scares me lmfao.

    Brake parts cleaner took A LOT OF PAINT right off my bike, especially around the pan area. Beware of using BRAKE PARTS CLEANER to clean any of the outside paints parts of the engine. Will take MUCH PAINT OFF. FYI

    On the FZ1, is it absolutely necessary to remove the clutch to create enough room/slack to remove the water pump? Id very seriously like to avoid this step, read on the R1 forums that people have been able to wiggle and shake things, in getting the pump out. Working on the street, less disassembly and less dirt is ideal. Less work too. Thank you for your reply please!!

      I've heard its not necessary but personally I wouldn't fight it, its possible you damage other stuff trying to forcefully get the pump out. If I remember right it was already pretty difficult to get the oil pump drive chain back on as it was. I know I tried to remove it first without pulling it off the oil pump drive sprocket [behind the clutch basket] but I couldn't. I had to pull the chain off the upper sprocket to get it freed.

      Sorry to hear that. Maybe there should have been a recall. Definitely going to be debris throughout the motor, def need to clean everything really well. Are the FZ8 engines similar to the FZ1?

    Do you know if a bad water pump will cause coolant to leak from the weep hole that’s on the bottom of the oil pan? My 2007 FZ1 is making a whining noise and leaking coolant from the weep hole.

    • @grimsmotovlogs369
      @grimsmotovlogs369  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeah, if coolant is coming from the weep hole and dripping on to the exhaust, then the water pump is worn and should be replaced. The whine noise may or may not be associated with the water pump failure though.

      @@grimsmotovlogs369 I appreciate it man! I’ve been researching it like crazy and have been seeing mixed opinions. Going to get a new pump on Monday 💪

      Its definitely a time consuming job, just make sure you get all the associated gaskets and o rings with it. I believe in total for all the parts, I paid around $400 or less. A torque wrench is a must, and just take your time.
