  • We had one goal and that was to catch something 1️⃣ Large 2️⃣Toothy and 3️⃣ Scary 😆 We went out to 400 ft of water and started with high speed vertical jigging to catch our bait 🐟 Today's bait included bonitos...one of them reaching nearly 25lbs! We used a piece of our 25lb bonito for bait and sent it down to the depths near the wreck. Fishing on very light tackle, using only a 20lb rod and 7500 size spinning reel, we had to fight our shark carefully and strategically to not get spooled and not get pulled into the wreck ⛴😅

    • @GaleForceTwins
      @GaleForceTwins  Před 4 lety +3

      No because it broke off when I had the line in my hand and it made another run. If I had let go in time maybe it would've stayed on?

    Good job hooking that shark. Her cousins ate 2 of our aku and 40lbs of our 75# albacore [tombo] tuna on Sunday. She ate all the sashimi. White tip 300 lber. Lucky she was to full to eat the 55# tombo I hooked next. Also had a 200# Blue marlin in the box on a 5# ahi. Thanks for all the shout out to Hawaii. Tight lines!

    awesome video! vertial jigging is fun but exhausting as hell especially wen ur jigging with a heavy reel and heavy jig. should use a circle hook instead of a j hook for the sharks but still great work on landing and releasing that shark!

    • @843Landbased
      @843Landbased Před 4 lety +1

      From my experience I caught a 7 ft hammer head with the j hook - hooked through his lip and through the bottom of its mouth curved in to his lip so the hook buried it self into his mouth

    • @tdannerth
      @tdannerth Před 4 lety +1

      You just cut a J with bolt cutters and be done. You dig around in a twelve foot hammerhead's mouth for that circle hook when you catch one, and come back and comment how much of your arm you have left. Not being a jerk, but... That's how you catch and release big sharks. And almost every American fisherman or woman (big emphasis on U.S.A. there), catch and releases big sharks these days, due to certain regions of the world, seeking shark fin soup. If you look up the subject, it's brutal what they do to them. A J hook is the safest method for shark and fisherperson to catch and release. All large shark hooks rust out faster than the wound can heal.
