I am so happy to hear that Alejandro! Gracias!!
@@drumqtips thanks
A simple one I like to do is to do Buzz + Stick + Stick (as a triplet) on Beat 4 as a quick 1 beat fill.
Man, you have BEAUTIFUL hands, just great to watch your technique. Very happening.
Thank you very much Eric!
This guy deserves way more views
I appreciate that James!
You are a excellent teacher in how you break down technique on the language of the application. Great 👌

Another great video! Your presentation of some really cool but tricky material here is very clear. Makes me want to hit the shed and work it out for myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
My uniq coment for you is great... You inspire me to learn jazz in a deeper way.
Sorry for my bad English rsrsrs....
I'm very happy to hear that!
Yeah Q! Man, it's great to see you break down some of these concepts and make it accessible for us non-drummers!
Finally! Now I know how Alan Dawson did it. Thanks!
Pretty cool!
Great lesson Professor! Keep them coming! Thanks for the shout out! ;-)

Thanks for nothing
always get inspiration from your video, thanks and keep up😊
My pleasure 😊
Thanks. This is a great lesson. Getting the stick to stay on the head without buzzing is pretty challenging, I find
Love Philly's phrasing~ but it's so tricky!
Great stuff Q!
Dope !!
so cool!
So this is stick shot, found it in my superior drummer settings and had never heard about it, what a special variation from the sidestick sound
Beautiful playing!
Thanks a lot!
Super cool ❤
Glad you liked it Diego!
Very great job Congratulation Quincy
Thanks Bernie!
Dig! Work it Q-tip!
Thank you.
7:57!!! These are all super slick, thanks for sharing Prof!
Kent! Yeah Joe was slick as hell. He plays a little dirtier but I had to clean it up sense this is a G-Rated channel. lol!
Maybe the licks are G-rated, but those guns are PG-13 🤣
Totally awesome. I heard it called ‘rapping’
Thanks Wilf!
Great video Maestro. Thank you, gotta get to work and make you proud.
You got it Sean! Keep on creating man. Enjoyed watching your FB Live concert.
Thanks!
I sure wish I could find a drum teacher of your caliber. Until then, these videos are very helpful.
Thanks
My man! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks doc!
thanks a lot !
Hi Quincy! Beautiful demonstration and I am a huge fan of your playing. I have great memories of our times at the Up And Over Jazz Cafe in Brooklyn. BTW...the Kendrick Stick Shot comes actually from Alan Dawson I think. Keep up your inspiring work!
Hey Klemens! Good to see you buddy! It's been way too long. Hope you're well and yes, Alan Dawson. I should have mentioned him for sure!!
Swingin intro !
suonare molto con gusto! padroneggiare la batteria è così bello
Great lesson! Love the triplet grouping concept. Ride sounds killing too what is a Dry Complex?
Great video as always. 🙏
Any tips for attempting the stick shot with left hand matched grip?
I think the angle of the stick is more favorable, when playing traditional grip.
With match grip, you just have to make more of an effort to raise the stick but it can be equally as effective. Thanks for watching!
Wow
If I may ask what is your recording setup? All of it sounds very clean and crisp.
Hi Quincy. This was a GREAT lesson! I'm really glad I subscribed. Thank you for your hard work and sharing.
I DO have a question, though. I've noticed that most modern drummers (I've been playing since the early ’70's) who use traditional grip seem to choke up their left hand so it's almost to the end of the stick. With almost no counterbalance, how do you get good rebound and speed? Thanks
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for checking out my videos. I get my rebound and speed from the web of my thumb and wrist. Good question.
master
Jossss
What cymbal is that on your left? Sounds great!
Hi Colman. All my equipment is listed in the description. Hope you're well!
Hi Quincy,
Love your videos,I can’t seem to do the stick shot. Is it because I only play matched grip? It seems easier with traditional grip since the left hand is always in more of a up position to stoke it with the right stick. Can it be done with matched grip? Thanks again.
Thanks Philip. Check out Bill Stewart. He plays them all the time and only plays match grip.
I absolutely love your lessons! Huge fan. Question, is that a dry complex??
yarpyarp85 check the description, he lists his cymbals there
@@siggeandersson1551 Thanks!
yarpyarp85 No problem!
thats the dry complex ride isnt it?
Great lesson! Thank you! How do you develop the finger control playing in lower volumes or with lower stick height?
It's all about wrist control Derek! Practice on a no rebound service at quiet volumes. That should help you.
@@drumqtips Thank you very much!!
@@drumqtips One last question. Do you recommend to practice this quiet way (on moongel or Reflexx pad) with heavier (marching) sticks or with regular drumset sticks? Thank you so much!
Derek Scherzer Berlin Heavier sticks will work your wrists well but also use the sticks you normally play with for this. Both work well.
@@Gerarddavies1 Thank you so much!
Q ...thanks for the lesson. Please don't be mad ...but when will we get that uptempo brush lesson that you talked about a few years ago or do you have NDA with Kwash?
Ha! You're right, I totally owe you CH Gamble. I actually made one some time ago but I wasn't happy with the quality. I promise I'm I'll do one in the next few months. Be patient:)
When can we expect the sticks to be on the market?😯
Got the final version a couple of weeks ago and they are amazing! Should be in the next couple of months. You'll hear about them!
Is it correct that it is possible to execute a stick shot without pressing it into the drum? It seems at 8:18 you can see such an example.
I saw a similar example on the channel JazzDrummersResource.
Absolutely! Just depends on how tight you want it to sound.
Sliiiiiiiiick
Thanks cymbal man. lol!
Aight time to hit the Coronashed
You got it Josh! Hope you're well dude.
Mr tight shirt.
Is this video for slow people.
The rack tom sounds like a snare drum with the strainer thrown off. Or like a timbale. Really annoying.
Gee that's loose. Not
Thank you very much indeed Maestro. ubep
My pleasure Giuseppe!
