I am an Israeli child coach that has coached thousands of children and met hundreds of teachers, I can see from this person's eyes when he spoke with the kids that he is a good human being and we could co-host classes that would bring peace and change the world. I'm a Palestinian and I really appreciate your message. ALOT of us on both sides can now see that all suffer under occupation. Those of us who put the value of humanity and compassion above everything else should organize and start a movement. No justification to killings of civilians and no justification for stripping people from their dignity. That along with destruction and policing of people's lives only leads to fertile ground for extremism; it doesn't solve the problem as we've seen time and time again. If you and I are to achieve progress in our discussion, we have to at least agree, that the way things are, is not helping neither of us. Just like the Hamas attacks incited rage, anger, hate, grief, sadness, confusion within Israelis, that is also what it's been like to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank for decades.
My point is to build a bridge we have to first show compassion and treat the other side as human beings first. This scenario shouldn't be the end result of some utopia -- it should be the first step we take. That is the only to win against the extremists in the Israeli government and those on the Hamas side or whatever extremist side.
The reason I place more responsibility on Israel is only because Israel has much more might and power and only its citizens, the Israelis, have the power to make change in the government. What kind of influence can I have besides talking to you for understanding?
