Why does the guide shoot with paying customers in the blind?
@@johnnyappleseed1242 first off I am sure he asked the clients to make sure it was ok. He also makes money off of CZcams so shotkam footage and general shooting stuff is necessary for his channel. Also it keeps all legal issues out of the question on over limits if clients shoot into a big group and knockdown more then their limits.

Why is the owner shooting birds like he’s a paying customer? Bobby loads up the lodge and then comes along and shoots at every flock! Why would you shoot a single coming in when you have 8-10 shooters that have paid you to hunt and guide them?

Bobby is the owner. He always has a paid guide on the hunt. That guide doesn't shoot. He still has content to make for the channel. He has every right to hunt. 99% of clients booked to hunt WITH Bobby.

Because they pay to hunt with BOBBY GUY. I would be more likely to book his hunts knowing he was hunting with me for the simple fact that he brings excitement and a passion that is infectious.

I mean with geese it’s all abt how manny you can bring down, in my opinion I wouldn’t want a bird or two if they were shot by the guide if they were banded so ya no thanks in that regard but I’m normally fine with guides shooting especially if there is plenty to shoot.
My first question when booking a hunt is, Does the guide Shoot? ... if so, not booking the hunt. I

Chances are if you have a full lanyard of bands you’re either hunting every day and getting lucky or you’re hunting around near by band sites.. I know a lot of outfitters that promote 100+ bands a season but they hunt 10-15 km away from a band site.
100 percent agree! You’re an awesome guide for giving your clients the bands for the experience! I’ve shot a bunch of bands but I don’t care for them either I just love to see where the birds came from.

Hey Bobby what calls do you use for both honkers and lessers. We have had a few near me and when we call them it seems like we are spooking them off instead of attracting. Now we have pretty cheap calls and are also not the best at calling but might start with one possibility and work on the other.

Hey Bobby I think a cool idea for a band drawing would be to look up where the band is from and then have everyone guess a state and city or providence and whoever is the closest to where the bird was banded gets it.
You still have to register the band under a name
I've been hunting for like 25 years haven't shot a band my dad has two in like 40 years
It kinda depends where you go. If you hunt a place close to where they band them, u have better chances.

Not gonna lie this title triggered me. I'm glad you explained your thoughts on it. You are absolutely right. The clients should always get the bands. I have given away more than I have kept and im no guide. Bands are more of a memory of a great hunt with great people. They all have a great story behind them and thats what it is about. Not the stupid band for your buddies to see.

Yea, I would expect to hunt, not go hunting with the guide. You already paid him for the opportunity at those shots. He lives there. I would be making a huge trip to get there and share the hunt with him.
You want the real answer? Legally, he has to shoot. If the you have a 7 man total group, and the 6 clients shoot your limit, thats illegal. HE HAS TO SHOOT. I shoot with every group that I have ever taken and it has never been a problem.
@@masonjames7814 Once a hunter reaches his personal limit he is finished. Any shot he would take would be against the law for attempting to take a bird over his limit even a miss.

I've shot 210 ducks and 4 geese this season n not a single band. honestly i don't care about the bands i just love being out there w my kids my pup n my wife.
I will watch some channels and their lanyards are filled with bands, I think, Wow, do they really care about that? Compared to the only band I’ve ever been apart of, it was my first goose hunt ever and the guy I was with shot his first goose band ever. He keeps it on the mantle up camp and every time I go there I think back and remember that hunt. Really hopeful I can get one that means something to me. In my 42nd season and I've been on 4 hunts that resulted in bands. First was a blue wing teal during early teal season. 2nd was a 13+ year old speck that a young teenager hunting with us killed (looking back this was probably the best). The third band was actually a double banded Ross with a $50 reward band that a co-worker killed, which was on his first true goose hunt. The last hunt was a solo goose hunt and I killed a speck out of a pair and it was banded. Bands don't make the hunter, the experiences are what does it for me!! The bands just give you an interesting story on an individual bird, which is cool too!!
My dad also shot two bands out of a group of three honkers. They were also both within 25 numbers of each other too! To this day he says he wished he got the third one because it was probably banded as well. That would have been quite the story to say that he got a triple and all of them were banded. That is pretty funny that you had the same thing happen on your hunt. Happy hunting all

I have shot some bands,(15+) and now it is more about where it came from. They are fun but am not near as impressed with them as I was in my younger years. My group gets One band a year on average but last year we killed 7 woodies opening week that were banded. probably won't get another one for a couple years. LOL I have Three bands that mean some thing to me on my keyring one is my dogs first retrieve.

I always thank it's crazy how I can see all the wads go past the birds and not one bird go's down with all that shot in the air. I bet you would like a gun that could reach out to 100 yards.

I haven’t ever got a band. I’ve been on several hunting trips and shot a lot of them but never won one, but I have the memories of the hunts and that’s all I care about
Bobby what’s the limit on geese you guys can take for a day where you’re at right now. I lived in Missouri and 09 and we were only allowed two per day.
Went out once, only bird I shot all day, all day long was a banded wig, couldn't believe it,,,,! first I ever knew about banding ducks and geese, all the year's after that never shot another. But after that a friend shot a banded honk, and my nephew shot banded mallard hen.
