When Uprock started it was used by gangs as a way to lessen casualtys and settle disputes. The way it was done was, the two gangs came brought there dancers and marked a line(or drew) on the floor the dancers could not touch each other and could not pass the line. Behind the line on each side were weapons(imaginary) that you had to use to kill your opponent uprock was used as a way to kill your opponent without actually killing him. Thats why theres a line on the floor, hoped it helped.

Theres alot more to the story but thats the outline. And if i'm not mistaken all gangs are family members/friends back then...
