What I really love about John Mayer is he has so many songs related to redemption. He's clearly a man who wanted more out of life than he's got, and that goes beyond financial wealth or societal standing. He's a man who has not reached what he wanted out of life yet, he has deep, cutting, regrets and things that he really feels he's lost control to. Ultimately though, he believes he can overcome these things and move forward.
