  • This is a common mistake I see from people trying to splitpush. It's particularly bad if you're a support because you'll die easily once spotted. Let your creeps go first and take your time to decide if it's safe to keep going. If it's dangerous, just wait in the trees for a bit. Only when you know it's safe can you constantly walk down the lane.

    If your hero also has a flashfarm ability, you can actually use smoke and push out waves without appearing in map since skills won't break smoke. :)

    Random question, can you explain why duo mid-lanes aren't a thing considering the crazy emphasis professionals put on controlling the center of the map? Might be a dumb question but I think it's pretty viable for rune control and the ability to gank the side-lanes faster.

    • @dex_8D
      @dex_8D Před 3 lety +1

      Duo mid makes the mid gain experience slower, so it's not actually good for accelerating map control. And a solo mid could usually wave clear or at least aggro the creeps off of the tower, so it's not a good way to take the mid tower faster either.

      Good question, this could be a short video on it's own!
      There was a time when two (and even three!) heroes for each side would show up middle. I think the main change has been side lanes becoming more important (with the addition of bounty runes close to each side, deny changes, etc.). If you put two heroes mid, you'd most likely lose a side lane. So the question is, would winning that midlane be enough?
      Although there is rune control, a support can come from a side lane to do that anyways (and they do). There is no pulling mechanic in the midlane so the second hero only has so much they can do. They'd have to focus on denies and harassing. However, think about the midlane tower placements (which changed over time). There's not much room to chase a hero. In fact, a hero could safely sit in their own tower range and still get XP from the creeps.
      Due to all of that, I think you wouldn't have enough impact mid to make up for how hard you can lose the side lanes. I think the midlane towers would need to be moved back a little bit again for it to become possibly viable for 2 heroes to sit middle.

    I have some questions
    First, when to splitpush as pos 4 or 5 ? Isnt it better to stick to strong core and search for pickoff, or just protect pos 1 that jungling ?
    Second, when splitpushing how long usually do I have to stay in that lane, and if there is nothing going on should i just keep hiding in the tree or should I just get back after pushing several waves ?
    Third, what if my hero dont have any AOE or wave clearing skill ? for example Bane, do i still have to try splitpushing ?
    Fourth, if the enemy have high mobility and always have better vision heroes like nightstalker. clockwerk, beast master, etc. Do i still need to do splitpush ?
    Sorry for so many question, also thanks as always for the video

      1) Very hard to answer this briefly. There will be times when cores don't want to push side lanes because it's too dangerous (or maybe they are dead!). It's generally good to have lanes shoved out, and sometimes cores aren't doing it so you'll need to. It's a good way to make space as a support. However, you are right that there are times when you are strong enough to just fight that you typically want to be behind a core.
      2) I would take a look at your minimap to answer this question. Really, all it takes to push a wave is a few auto attacks or a spell (assuming the lane was at equilibrium). This will create a very slow push in your favor. Obviously, the more damage you do, the faster the lane will push. I would get the lane pushing (maybe kill of the creep wave if it's safe to do so) and then hide and look at your minimap. If it looks like something is about to happen, get over to that part of the map. If not, then keep waiting to see if it's safe to continue.
      3) If you enter an empty lobby, just attack a creep 3 times and watch. The lane will slowly start to push. In particular, if you get the enemy ranged creep killed, it'll build up a nice wave in your favor. So even someone like Bane can walk to a creep wave, Brain Sap and auto attack the ranged creep and walk away. Only takes a second but you've pushed the lane. If there's a lot of enemy creeps, it might take longer (though if there's a lot of enemy creeps, maybe a core should have gone to do it).
      4) If they have a lot of vision/catch, you'll need to be far more careful with splitpushing. You'd only do it when you really have to, and you'd want to be able to see all the heroes you are scared of. If you don't see any of them, you'd play safe and avoid splitpushing. But say you see them all top, then there's no reason you can't push bottom.

    Does the corpse of of enemy creep give vision? If so maybe the enemy can see you hide in the trees

  • @whatsfordinner1695
    @whatsfordinner1695 Před 3 lety +1

    but if enemy sees you do this like twice, don't they know to just wait a little too for you to show up?

    • @ZQuixotix
      @ZQuixotix  Před 3 lety +2

      They SHOULD, but you'd be surprised how much you can get away with this. Plus, while you're waiting on the side, you should be looking at your minimap. If you don't see the heroes that can kill you, then you can just keep waiting. If both you and the enemy mid are waiting for the other to show up, you are winning (assuming you're a support). You don't have to be farming as a support, but the mid/carry/offlaner all want to be farming rather than waiting for an enemy support for an unknown period of time. If you're patient, the core players will usually show themselves first
