    When I was 12 my stepdad would take me to the city park to play basketball at night against all the grown ass men. It definitely helped toughen me up for 4 years on the varsity team in highschool...good ass memories

    Have to be a dad and share the following. My son ended up playing division one soccer. Goalie. But when he was about 13 years old, he was asked to play with the U-17 team -I of course said yes and best experience for him at that age. Propelled him to the next level. Good job Dad!

    I did the same thing to my 13 year old, I put him in the Adult wood bat Mens League for 8 games and he’s playing against HS & College kids, and he’s ended this 14U AA Comp season batting .644….. Any AB is a good AB! Especially if you can track & hit the ball

      @@mousejackson2523 I can’t speak to this kid or his high schools players, but here in California there were multiple 80+ mph pitchers on freshman/sophomore JV teams all throughout the state, most teams had at least one 80+ pitcher in the exact age group you are talking about here, with some of them even throwing that hard before they got into highschool

      @@jarhead3864 my pops did sorta the same thing, except correctly. He forced me to play sports, but not to live through his dream, just to see if I could find a hobby and something I like to do. Eventually, I wanted to quit, and he said that was completely fine, however, he also berated me for not taking the sport seriously enough, and that the reason I was quitting due to lack of skill was because I was lazy and didn’t put in the work. He was absolutely right, and it pissed me off. So when I entered my freshman year of high school, I worked my ass off and rehatched my liking for the sport, and I eventually became an all star in my high school’s league. So at least I got to end my sports on a good note, thanks to my dad’s mind fuckery.

      @@silvah4161 did you not see the runner that was going to second? He was watching the ball jogging and then once he hit second he turned on the afterburners to get to third. I’m pretty sure that means the ball fell in open grass, probably had the camera on a tripod so that’s why it doesn’t move at all.

      I played baseball my entire young life, and once you hit high school that’s when the ball really starts moving quick.
      16-18 year old life long pitchers would have no problem hitting that speed.

The fact that he’s using a 12 year old sized bat means that he is not old enough to be required to use a larger sized bat, and he is allowed to participate in this game because it is a scrimmage not an official game.

    That’s like one year of difference man. If you keep thinking of them being better becasue they are older you’re going to hold yourself back. I’m a HS and travel coach in Oklahoma. So this isn’t some random guy. I’m a baseball lifer. Played in college. Been coaching since then. Please take my advice and make yourself believe that you belong up there with them. Your dad was right to put you there. When you get to HS as a freshman you will be playing these same guys too. Don’t let them be better by default in your mind.

Just happened to be playing against my best friends brother and his buddies who’d use us at dummies for fun. My first plate appearance, first pitch went for my head. Ended up striking out. 2nd at bat, singled, stole 2nd,3rd and scored.
