you should try the fuse only challenge that I came up with myself. the way it works is you can only hatch from eggs that you have pets from and you cant hatch eggs that you don't have a pet of which is in that egg and since you start with your starter pet you can open the first egg and then fuse those pets and try to get pets from another egg to hatch from that egg. you cannot trade or use gifts. you should really try it :)

Yes, you have to pay for every huge and if you want a free egg one you need a luck gamepass anyway and you won’t even be able to get the updated huges. (Cat world, tech world, pixel world, etc.)Only event ones. I have hatched 3 huges one Halloween 2 on christmas. And I have the luck gamepass which is the only reason why. (Also huge elf dog from advent calendar so that was free :))
