    My compliments on another excellent restoration. As an ex Ford Tractor Division employee in the '60s I can assure Evelyn Woodcock that the pre-cleaner is definitely correct for all E1A Australian production. Locally sourced items included wheel equipment, tyres and batteries, spark arrestors, swinging roller drawbar, power steering kits and remote hydraulics.

      We had a power major in the late 70's early 80's it was live drive PTO. We bought a 4.5 foot PZ rotary mower in 1978/9 and I remember backing up on the headlands to have it up to speed going into the swath. We bought a brand new Ford 4600 in 1981 and the old folks insisted on flogging the major for £500 even though myself and my brother wanted to hold onto it, we lost out unfortunately.

    Well what an absolute Rippa and Ripper job. We had a Fordson Farm Major, when I was a kid, had a Gason Cab, side entry, ours had cast rims front & rear, see yours has front only. What size are your tires, ours had 6.00 x 16 front and 16.9 x 28 rear. 4th gear used to whine like hell while working fairly hard and as for the injector pump clatter, never heard a Fordson that didn't, sort of trade mark sound. As for the air cleaner cover, ours the same, flat top. Great to see some of these old girls dolled up again. will email a picture of her if you like. cheers and thanks for posting.

    • @humpygarage9779

      Thankyou Andy for your nice words, I am so thankful for all of you guys that appreciate old machinery it makes my time doing these projects worth while. The front tyres are 7.50 16, You are correct the injector pump was built from 3 old pumps, so the best judges such as yourself know that its largely an inherent noise! Yes I have had four of these and all had oil bath flat top air cleaners, I would say that this was standard issue in Australia. Currently building another Major with white wheels, hopefully it will be up in the next year, Also building a GMC Truck will be up soon. Thanks for commenting, Ill work out a way I can get my email to you, I'm best not to write it in the text.

    Put the correct air inlet cover on it, as its original should be like a domed mushroom, the clickety-click, clackety-clack, put a new coupling on the front of the injector pump, as they ware out, due to dry soil dust.

      @hootche1 Před 3 lety

      @@swagmanexplores7472 Could you please answer, is there an OIL Bath FILTER UNDER THE BONNET.
      If so, when you restore an item, ie, tractor to it,s original factory condition, the domed type inlet would and should be fitted,
      as yours is a non-standard Export mod
      it may well have been fitted with an extra particular filter as a none standard item.
