  • Hi! I´m presenting some of my painting and weathering techniques for brick wall buildings. The subject is a 6-port roundhouse with matching water tower. The roundhouse is then integrated into a Locomotive yard with turntable and related track works.

This roundhouse is a fantastic kit. I built one several years ago. The fit of all parts was the best I've ever seen. Thanks for all the great weathering and painting instructions. A beautiful module.

The 6-stall roundhouse model resembles a similar one at Greenfield Village/Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI, except their turntable is 'hand-powered' and they often get children to help turn it. A very detailed Roundhouse and a nice diorama. I am also building a 6 bay roundhouse that is being 3D printed for me. The creator made a mistake on the front walls and doors, he did not allow for the tracks. I think he is redrawing them now, but after seeing this video I saw the doors are shaped to go over the track. I also want to open and close the doors. I will use servos with control via an Arduino board with an Uno 3. I think I will try and cut the door and see if that is ok or not. Many thanks. Martin (Thailand)

marklinofsweden Here in the Netherlands we have a website called Arcomora: www.arcomora.com/ . They sell a cheap Arduino + DCC shield for about €10. This will give you the opportunity to program your servos very easyly and make that time about 9 seconds instead of 1.
No need for programming skills, the interface is easy to use and allows all kind of possibilities. I use it to switch 3 way switches with the cheapest Chinese servos available.
