    Nice kayak 👍 I have your 2022 model a love it. I get lots of questions about pretty much every time I use it. I live in northern Alberta where some small lakes have seaweed growing up to the water line. That's one thing I like about mine is I can pull the rudder up until I get through it and then lower it again. It is one tough kayak, I say that because one day I hit a dead head ( water logged 8 inch in diameter fallen tree just under the water) and it actually lifted the kayak up and scared the crap out of me. I was concern and paddled very quickly to shore to checkout the damage. To my surprise all I could see was a surface scratch where I hit the tree, no dent or deformity of any kind. As I stated, one tough kayak. I really like the fact that your company continues to improve the design to make it even better. Thanks for building a kayak that is affordable and durable. Take care.

      Good to hear a fellow Canadian that has the kayak, I also love mine and find it very tough for rocky shores on lakes and riverbeds. My question to you is, do you find that you are limited by weather as the Kayak only folds together in warm weather for me, so I lose out on Spring and Fall paddling. Do you have a workaround to get a longer season out of the kayak in Canada?

      @@roseschoonhoven5297 hard to do for some ppl, but TUCKTEC said you can leave it in its assembled full kayak form for as long as you like, like in colder temps, but now you have to strap to your roof or tow it everywhere :/

    I think it's cool you released a more direct competitor line against the oru. Your main line blew them out of the water, wouldn't be surprised if this lighter variant does the same. It looks like it comes with tougher components.

    Update: OK, I took a leap of faith and did buy this kayak. Just got off the lake on its maiden run. It took maybe two minutes to put together - it’s really easy. I reveled in its light weight carrying it to the lake and it held up fine as I scootched into it from a floating dock. One thing to note is that all of them come with a skeg included, and I forgot to put that on. It was still relatively easy to paddle, but definitely would have tracked much better with the skeg. The interior of the boat stayed dry, except for where I splashed it with my paddling. I didn’t go far or try to do anything daring as I am still building up my confidence in its sturdiness. It definitely seems tougher than it looks. And it’s definitely something I would take out on the lake when I basically want to drift around, enjoying the sun and the sights.
    I hope this is helpful and also that others will share their experiences here as well.

    This one is the corrugated plastic version? Is water seeping into the corrugated plastic channels an issue? Could the channel holes be sealed to minimize water seeping in?

      It took me a while to figure out how to put it together - had to watch the video multiple times. I agree that demonstrating more slowly and with more emphasis on the different connection points would be super helpful. I am hoping that I did it correctly. The velcro strap used to hold the kayak together is now attached to the kayak and those reattachment directions need updating.

    • @dianekraft774
      @dianekraft774 Před 4 měsíci +2

      Totally agree. Moving the camera in closer like when they are attaching the tabs would also help.

      I’m not impressed with this video at all. I had to use a rubber mallet to get the side struts in and step on the side bars in order to get them in the clips. He says to have the Velcro strap fuzzy side down-wrong.

      Just change the video speed people! These instructions are very good. There are so many instructional videos out there that are full of fluff and eat up a bunch of time, they did this well and without any waste. I suppose they could have put a note in there for those that do not know you can slow youtube videos down though… - To slow the video down, click on the settings icon (gear) and you will see an option to do so. Simple.

    Intresting. Looks like you guys are gunning for oru directly with this design. Just ordered one of your heavy duty models and cant wait to try it out. I feel a bit better about the heavy duty partly because I'm right around 200lbs so at the weight limit for the BOTO and I'm a bit more confident of the durability of the solid plastic vs the coroplast sheet. Most of my weight is mussel so that amount of weight savings is not a concern for me and I don't anticipate any struggle with the stiffer folds.
    That modified design for the seat is interesting though, I wonder if you plan on incorperating that into the heavy duty in the future. I'm assumeing that was needed for structural rigidity in the center.

  • @johndoe5247
    @johndoe5247 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Is the seat cage necessary for stability ? Also, my pipes are too long; I cannot simultaneously get the one end on the white pin and the other end into the hole.

    IMHO the nice thing about this kayak in compare to ORU for instance is that the main folds arent on the corner of folded package.

    I'm 182. Add a life vest and minimal gear including paddle and I'd be approaching 200. Will this boat sink under water then? 200 seems very light capacity

    • @MotorizedBicycleRace
      @MotorizedBicycleRace Před 6 měsíci +2

      Yes it's corrugated plastic like an Oru.
      The Boto has a 200lb weight limit vs the Tucktec 280lb paddler limit plus 20lbs distributed weight for 300lbs total.
