    Yes I know some ways to do bind returns and it look pretty nice when you can get it to work everytime you do it.
    I'm using the big bearing and I was able to take the yoyo back to my hand with the last one, not every time, but sometimes the rope was gripping on the silicone circle on the side.

    The Advanced Kit comes with Lube, which keeps the yoyo playing more consistently. It also comes with weight rings which helps the yoyo play more stable and sleep longer. It also comes with string which you will need if you want to keep learning tricks, because yoyo strings break every few days or so with consistant play.
    To answer your question, you can learn all the tricks with just the Luminator, but the Advanced Kit makes everything much easier.

    How should I be rotating my wrist? Am I just flipping it upside down in a rapid motion or am I trying to rotate in a circle. I'm currently not getting any power with my throw and the yoyo is moving away from me when I throw as well. I'm also having trouble to get it to return but that's also probably due to not having that powerful a throw yet and I'm a bad catch lol

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 12 lety

    @megacool2002 I have never used a Boomerang yoyo, but if it is like other auto returns it will not sleep unless you throw it with enough force. You need to throw these kinds of yoyos very hard if you want it to sleep. It is also possible that the string is on the yoyo wrong, or the parts on the inside of the yoyo are in backwards. Either of these things could affect how it is sleeping.
    Hope this helps!

    It does work well as an unresponsive yoyo. However, if you want a yoyo that is only for unresponsive play, I would probably recommend something else with a larger bearing like the Flipside. We have both on YoTricks, and we have a detailed write-up about each if you want to check those out.

    Hi Your training video's are great, I'm yoyo'ing for a year now and practice a lot, but somehow I cannot master this Break away throw. My yoyo alway's end's tilted on the string or as a fiercly wobbling Ufo. I do something wrong, but can't figure out what.. I suspect I hold it too long in my hand during the throw. Could you tell something about the exact moment you release the yoyo?

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 11 lety

    This usually means that the yoyo is not coming back straight. Your hand, string and yoyo should all be in a perfect line - everything should be lined up with the groove of the yoyo. If you can keep things straight like this it should not spin out as you described.
    Hope this helps!

    Hey I've recently bought a yomega alphawing and have mastered basic throws and sleeping as well as many of the beginner tricks, however i am finding that when I do teh breakaway throw it doesn't extend to its full length and just stops in mid air. Im curious if its me or the yoyo, because i don't get bery good sleep times and when i did the elevator the yoyo sometimes stops on the string.

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 8 lety

      Zathuul The Alpha Wing is a fixed axle yoyo, which means it will not sleep very long, which is most likely the cause of the problems you are having. If you are finding that you are really enjoying yo-yoing, and are interested in learning more tricks, we would highly recommend you consider getting a ball bearing yoyo, like the Sage. Ball bearing yoyos sleep easier and for much longer than yoyos with fixed axles.

    The Luminator is the yoyo we use in most of our videos, so I recommend that yoyo. I suggest you take a look at the Luminator Advanced Kit on our YoTricks website, it comes with everything you need including lube and extra strings.

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 12 lety

    @SingingsMyMiddleName It sounds like the bearing needs to be lubricated. If you are using a ball bearing yoyo (like the Dominator) and it does not come back to your hand when you try to pull it back, this is most likely the problem. You can use any type of synthetic lube for the bearing. We recommend Super Lube which you can get at YoTricks.

      Orders typically arrive 3-5 days after they ship, not counting Sundays.

    @x1jaykay1x It is the Luminator by Peter Fish. You can get it at YoTricks.

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 11 lety

    In that case what I recommend is determined by how much you want to spend. If you want to spend under $20 I suggest either the Luminator Advanced Kit (if you like responsive play) or the Velocity (if you are hoping to get into more advanced string tricks). If you can spend a bit more the Legacy 2 is really great. If you are okay spending more than $40 the Dark Magic 2 is a fantastic yoyo. All of these yoyos can be setup for beginners, but the more you spend the better they are for string tricks.

I want to know what yoyo I should buy that can do a bunch of string tricks and is overall a good starting yoyo. I am not an absolute beginner, I almost know how to do all the 50 beginner tricks. I've heard that the fast 201 and the sage yoyo are both good YoYos for starters.

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 8 lety

      Jivan Minifee The Fast 201 is a beginner yoyo, not what we would call a starter yoyo. Also, if you are almost done with the First 50 tricks, you are well beyond beginner or starter. If you already know how to do a bind (which is right in the middle of the First 50 tricks) then you are ready for an unresponsive yoyo like the Replay or the Shutter.

Right now even when I do manage to get the yoyo on the string (for a trapeeze) it's often crooked and spin dies really fast due to hitting the string? Any more advice on things you see often in breakaway throws that are bad habits to fix?

    It sounds like your yoyo is not sleeping when it gets to the end of the string. This could be a problem with the yoyo itself (what yoyo is it?), but more likely you are letting the yoyo go a little bit late. Try letting the yoyo go a little earlier in your throw; this should make it swing around a bit more making it easier to sleep.
    Hope this helps!

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 11 lety

    The One can be an unresponsive yoyo, especially if you are using the large bearing. If a yoyo is unresponsive (it will not come back when you pull on the string) this means that you need to do a bind to get the yoyo to come back. We have a video called:
    learn to bind an unresponsive yoyo
    That can help with this. We also have another video called
    The easiest bind ever
    A youtube search should find these easily.
    If you have the thin bearing for the One put that in if it is not already, it may help.

    have you ever tried the yoyo "Revolution Grant Johnson" and what would you rate it out of 10? i have been using an unresponsive bearing, but i don't think i really need it for the basic string trick like Suicide, Brain scrambler. Whats a good responsive yoyo that can spin for a long time?

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 9 lety

      zappysta I have not tried the Revolution. If you are looking for a responsive yoyo I suggest the Sage Yoyo Starter Pack. It will sleep 30-45 seconds with a good straight throw, which is about as good as it gets for responsive yoyos.

    • @zappysta
      @zappysta Před 9 lety

      yotricks
      How good is it for unresponsive play? I'd like too start learning the basic-intermediate string tricks soon too. I'm going to buy the Sage starter pack so what unresponsive bearing would you recommend to get?
      I would use the bearings from my revolution, but my dad (without my permission) put lenox (which is a type of machine tool lube) in the bearings making the unresponsive bearing now responsive and the already responsive unplayable. PS Do you compete in yoyo tournaments?

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 9 lety

      For the Sage we recommend the CenterTrac bearing, which comes in the Pro Pack. If you have not already ordered the Starter Pack a good option is to get the Pro Pack and then get thick yoyo lube. The Pro Pack comes with thin lube for the Center Trac bearing, and the Thick Lube will keep the thin bearing that comes in the Sage playing responsive.
      I do compete on occasion, but just for fun.

    • @zappysta

      yotricks
      So the pro pack comes with both unresponsive and responsive bearings

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 9 lety

      Yes, but if you want to keep the responsive bearing playing as responsive as possible it is a good idea to get some Thick Lube as well.

    Hey there,
    I have trouble doing returning the yoyo back to my hand. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have a Duncan Pro Z with MOD spacers. I do my throw right but seems like I can't bring it back to my hand when it crosses my shoulders. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
    P.S keep up the great work with the site and the videos. It is my go to site for learning :)

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 9 lety

      Thanks!
      If the yoyo is not responding well enough it may need a touch of thick yoyo lube. If it responds other times you can try moving your hand toward your yoyo after you pull it back and that might help as well.

    • @yotricks

      It is the luminator, which is no longer made. In its place we now recommend the Sage, which is a much better yoyo.

    I've been doing your breakaway for a while now,and I've noticed im starting to get cuts on my index finger on my throw hand from the string. I already have a good Calais on my hands, but my throw hand still gets cut up. What can i do to kind get rid of the problem. I've already tried changing the way i throw it, still run into it.

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 9 lety

      Anatalio Tomas That is a pretty common problem when players practice a lot. Some players put tape on their finger (like the kind of tape you would find in a medical kit) to keep this from happening.

    Even tho I've been learning (and pulling off) more advanced tricks like skin the gerbil and Double or nothing I still feel like my breakaways are mediocre at best.
    On one hand, the first form of throw were you just rotate your shoulder it's much easier to pull off but It doesn't feel right to me, so as you suggest here, I've been using the second form (the doorknob-like).
    The problem is that most of the time the yoyo comes out crooked and I have to turn my body in order to keep it parallel to the yoyo.
    You guys have any advice or method on how should I try to straighten my throws?
    (I only have an unresponsive yoyo)

    • @yotricks
      @yotricks  Před 8 lety +1

      +Marqo Diaz Your best bet is to straighten the yoyo after it lands on the string. You can do this by pushing the string connected to your yoyo finger into the string by moving your yoyo hand either forward or backward. That will allow you to work on tricks even if your throw is not straight. As you continue to practice you will find your throw gradually improving over time.

    I have the yoyofactory whip and I can't seem to get a good bind after my breakaway do you have any tips
    Respond please

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 12 lety

    When the yoyo lands on the string it should spin just as long as it does when it is not on the string. However, if the string touches the sides of the yoyo, which will happen if the yoyo is not throw straight or if you are not keeping the strings straight in line with the groove. Once your throw is a little better, and you have practiced the trick a bit more, it will be easier to keep the strings from touching the side of the yoyo.

  • @yotricks

    Unfortunately, I have not found an easy way to do this on small bearings like the ones that come in the Luminator. I know there are some videos on CZcams about this though. Are you trying to clean the bearing?

  • @yotricks
    @yotricks  Před 11 lety

    I would suggest either the Luminator Advanced Kit or the Velocity Starter Pack.
