    As a drone operator I can say that you have to add yaw to fly a circle or to make simple turn etc..
    Besides when the drone is hovering, the motors are not necessarily rotating at the exact same speed (due weight distribution, wind) the gyro's inside fight controller of the drone regulates the motor speed of each motor in order to stay level. For example, if you add more weight on one motor arm, that arm will spin faster to stay horizontal.

    The drone will not turn in a circle if you just pitch and roll it. it will move diagonally. you will need to induce some yaw in order to constantly adjust the drone's heading.

      If you do the roll and pitch at the same time, you're right. But if you do the pitch firstly and if you do the roll after the drone gains a certain amount of velocity,it will do a circular motion

    The most important part of a drone is its sensors and electronics package. If this is good enough you can use all kinds of motors and inefficient blades to produce results as far as power exceeds weight.

    • @carboncopters5674
      @carboncopters5674 Před 3 lety +5

      Dany Varna Each part is important. In many cases lift can exceed weight but the craft might still be impossible to tune / fly correctly cause mechanical factors like stiffness, center of gravity position and many others.

    • @danyvarna5094
      @danyvarna5094 Před 3 lety

      @@carboncopters5674 , turn your brain on. All of what you mentioned is either performance related or correctable to a satisfactory level by the electronic suite. Every part od important bit some are decisive, thus you start with them as a choke point.

    • @carboncopters5674
      @carboncopters5674 Před 3 lety +1

      Dany Varna No its not. Electronics cannot change the laws of physics. Its entirely possible to make UAV impossible to fly in a controlable manner not to mention ,,satifactionary” level if for example the center of gravity is too far away or some elemnts of the craft interfere with air stream. You obviously have no experience in building crafts of this type or especially the experimental ones if you deny the obvious significance of mechanical contruction.

    • @danyvarna5094
      @danyvarna5094 Před 3 lety

      @@carboncopters5674 , you seem to know little. Let me help you. Do you understand that most current military flying machines that we use are either not aerodynamic or have been planned with a level of aerodynamic instability? :-) Read, man. I am building drones so I know what I am taking about. With enough power and a good electronics-sensors module you can make a brik fly. Chech the development of quadcopters and compare it with the timeframe of the rise of cheep electronics.

    • @carboncopters5674
      @carboncopters5674 Před 3 lety +3

      Dany Varna Aeroplanes are built instable statically on purpose and it is a well planned and calculated process. Its not ,,do whatever and it will fly”. This actually the proof of significance of the airframe design itself and using the advantage which electronics gives. The fact that you ,,build drones” doesn't make you be anyone who can ,,explain things” especially to people who design stuff you probably buy and stick together according to manual and tutorials. If you want to prove your point about electronics does it all, please show me bi-copter or tri-copter that flies in a satisfaction ally way withtout flaws of these configuration, of course self designed frame. You are ,,pro''' after all.

    If you pitch and roll, wouldn't you just go in a diagonal direction. So not going in a circle but still in a straight line. To go in a circle you'd have to yaw as well and it gets quite complicated at that point.

    • @arihantjain1662
      @arihantjain1662 Před 3 lety +2

      Well the logic that I could think is since circular motion is a 2d motion and requires force in 2 directions only thus only pitch and roll is required. If we apply yaw also then it will be a spherical motion instead of a circular one. I may be wrong but this is only possible explanation I can think of.

    • @pi314ever
      @pi314ever Před 3 lety +1

      There's a coupling between roll and yaw. Typically, it's way more efficient to roll to change direction than yaw.

    • @akh345
      @akh345 Před 3 lety +7

      You are correct. It is equivalent to "strafing" in video games. Both pitching and rolling preserves the direction that the quadcopter is facing.

    Great visual... my only comment (correction?) would be that yes, different motor speeds (torque) on the diagonal motors causes yaw. To pitch or roll you are increasing the motor speed in either the front/rear or right/left motors to provide more or less lift to make it change it's attitude, not torque. Please correct me if I am wrong?

    • @me-zu3gm
      @me-zu3gm Před rokem

      One thing you should ask yourself is what is torque? A force that causes rotation. when you change the motor speed,the blades creates more lift which provides torque to that side of the drone.
