Yay! That blue one looks familiar...😉 And thanks for the podcast shout out! We narrate short stories to help readers find new authors, but I do have a friend who does the first chapter on her podcast, so I highly recommend that one too (The Fictional Bookshop)! Enjoy all the books!
My favorite first sentence so far this year was "The first time the Witch asked Marynka to bring her a heart she was 12 years old"
That was the first line The Midnight Girls by Alicia Jasinska 4.5☆!
Dead Man's Folly is Poirot. And the Bedside guide doesn't have spoilers. Love those books!!
Those Agatha Christie books look like so much fun.
A couple years ago I listened to “The Reason for God” by Tim Keller and it blew my mind!! I loved it so so much. I highly recommend listening to that audiobook in his own voice. Especially since he is now sadly passed, it’s even more meaningful hearing him read it. So good.
Murdle is such a fun game! I got the book for Christmas, but you can also go to the website and play a new one every day.
Oh, I had no idea, thanks Felicia!
Spin the Dawn duology was very good.
I’m trying to buy less books this year too and when I do be very intentional about which ones and in what format I get them in (hard copy or ebook) as well as getting rid of books I no longer care for-of which I’ve already unhauled 30!
I giggled when I saw you posting a book haul amidst all of your unhaul videos 😅
That has to be so hard to not buy books before your move. 😬 For Christmas I received 3 gift cards to our local Christian bookstore. I'm currently trying to read books that I already have on my shelves so that I know what I can get rid of to make room or so that I know if I should by the next book in a series before spending the gift cards. Everytime I'm in there (they have a fabulous coffee shop as well) it takes some self-control to not buy whatever books I just want to buy that day. I'm trying to be wise about it. Haha
I found Timothy Keller's book in Jonah at a little free library last summer in perfect condition. Great find! But I haven't read it. 😆
Kate loved The King's General...i plan to try it again when i have less books going on. Many in our group liked it.
The thumbnail 🎉🎉😂😂😂😂
❤📚❤️ I have the Shadow and Bone Trilogy to read first. I wish I could find Six of Crows at the thrift store, always looking! Great find. 🤗
you technically don't have to read Shadow and Bone first but I recommend doing so!
For Six of Crows (don’t quote me- I haven’t read it) I have heard that a character who plays a major role in S&B appears in SoC, so I would at least watch the show first (the show added the crows). Also I really want to read Six Crimson Cranes
You have a new copy of Clock Tower Bound headed to you. #BecauseTypos and brainlessness. LOL
I am eager to find out what you think of other Dorothy Gillman books. I really enjoy Pollifax. I'm onto The Whirling Dirvish right now. Doing my (almost annual) relisten of them. :)
I am on a year long book buying ban... trying to get through my physical tbr...altho I do have access to audiobooks!
Hi Chantel! So excited about all the fantasy you’ve been hauling. I’m also embarking on a huge move this year in the summer so I appreciate the idea of “Growing Boldly”. My family is moving from Texas to New York State.
Great haul! The King's General wasn't my favorite of Du Maurier, but it's set in a fascinating time period, and the premise was great.
I think I added Murdle to my Amazon wishlist last month. It sounds so fun!
I just ordered some journals from the company that did that Know Your Bible Map and I LOVE them. I really like the Prayer Map journals.
The Shadow and Bone trilogy will give you a better understanding of the world and magic system and such, but you don't HAVE to read them first before diving into the Six of Crows duology. I own them all and read the Six of Crows duology before reading the original trilogy and I had no real problems. They're kinda like companion series moreso than directly connected. I, personally, feel the Six of Crows duology is MUCH BETTER than the original trilogy. I've reread the duology twice 😂
I’m very curious about Spin the Dawn, too! 😁♥️
I have Murdle #2 that I just started!
I have bought more books. My unread shelf is overflowing 😅 I also bought Clock Tower Bound. It's fantastic! I also enjoyed The Body They May Kill (recommended by Chautona). I read the sequel to Six Crimson Cranes. It wasn't very good.
