    I would recommend using the original style thermostat. The one have will fail, in the closed position.

      @@vintage76vipergreenBeetle you're right, that's what I've been reading. I need to find one (original style) that's reasonable. Will likely start it this way / break in, and then swap out down the line.

      @@vintage76vipergreenBeetle also: not shown in the video but I think you commented on at one point, I did swap out the dual springs for the high rev single springs. The duals were ridiculous... No way I would have been able to turn the motor by hand to perform the initial valve adjustment.

      Type 4 thermostat are available new. But not cheap. I need to buy one also. I'm building a type 4 1700 with upright cooling for my bug. I have been slowly buy parts for the project.
