I really like this guy. RIP Saul.
He's the antithesis of arrogance. A true artist, a great talent who like many of his ilk live lives on the periphery of a mainstream society that doesn't really understand the creative mentality and isn't always comfortable in it's presence.
I suspect people were uncomfortable with him because he could see,.

+Phil Wyles The thing is that, many artists, even today need to have certain social skills in order to become popular. Either that or their work needs to be phenomenal. However today alot of stuff is rather mediocre which is why so many rely on being very social, not to even speak of the pressure that social media put on this.
I can honestly say that only few of my teachers actually like me because they notice I have a certain eye for things yet they do not often engage in a conversation with me because they believe I'm amazingly weird. I'm not saying this to point out that I am an artist but I can tell you that I'm very honest and don't take the effort to be diplomatic, I'm rather frank and tell the way I see things convincingly and expect these thoughts to be challenged. This is very frightening to others I have found out and only my friends dare to contradict me or say that I'm full of shit. These are the best people to surround yourself with, all the others are just pleasers, pussies, whatever they are, they aren't worth wasting your time with as they'll never take the risk to raise a conflict.
They point the finger but never put something together that actually reveals something, it may make you think but most of the time that's also where it ends; a confusion to which they don't even know the answer to.
I know an artist isn't supposed to give answers, but at least I am able to tell myself why I should get up in the morning and pursue this career whereas many artists/students seem to just flap their fins in a shallow pond. When you KNOW that someone has a direction, or a lack thereof but are unaffected by it, and is making something of their life they often become scary because we recognize this and realize that we experience neither. They make us realize that our lives aren't lived to the full potential and that we are too occupied with a life that others have dictated us. It's about being honest to ourselves when you get to the bottom of it really and I think it's that what scares many to be in the presence of such people, it's not about that they can see, it's about your inability to do the same.

The interview is very monotonous and very dry! that has nothing to do with art ... what? one survey, when one asks the same question, as was the predecessor. :(
