Either Tom fights Jones when he's recovered then winner fights Stipe or Jones relinquishes the belt now and stops hiding behind old, battle worn Stipe and faces the risk of having to fight Tom when he very probably beats Stipe. Jones is foaming at the mouth trying to avoid Aspinall and Pavlovich.

Now most fans dont want to see anything but that. Which really sucks for Stipe bc none of this is his fault, but that's just the way it works out sometimes. I say let Tom take the legit HW belt and move on to new contenders, then let Jon and Stipe fight whenever they fight, bc belt or no belt it really doesn't change me wanting to see them fight. Both are such legends and bondafide champs already that the belt is secondary to the bragging rights. I just don't wanna see a log jam at LHW and HW, there's too many fun fights to make everyone wait around for 12-18months
I'm baffled by people who say Bones is afraid to fight someone. Jon fears no man, and I think he beats anybody who is in front of him. The idea that Jon is trying to avoid Aspinall or Pavlovich is ludicrous.
Dana already said it. Jones vs Stipe is the fight they are making next. Tom will have to defend the interim belt or sit on the sidelines like Whittaker did when the UFC matched up Bisping vs GSP

No way does Gane deserve another title shot. He got embarrassed twice and he just beat someone Tom already destroyed way easier than he did. Gane needs to fight Almeida or someone at the very least before he gets anywhere near another title shot.

Normally id say u cant strip Jon or make him vacate inside of 1 yr just bc of his status in the sport and the fact that he's the GOAT, but when I see Ariel, Schaub, Bisping, Chael and every other mma media personality calling for Jon to either vacate or make Tom the next fight I cant disagree. It sucks for Stipe but thats the game, Tom deserves to have the legit title now, or a chance to unify when Jon comes back, nothing else makes sense

Jiri beat an established champion in Glover after wins against Oezdemir and Reyes.
Context matters.
I wonder how a fight between Jon or Tom vs the undefeated LWH/HW champion in ONE FC Anatoly would go.
Jon won't be medically cleared til halfway through next year with his recovery and with how much time Jon likes to prep for his camps it would probably be another 3 or months after that before he'd accept a fight and it sure as hell won't be against a young hungry lion like Aspinall.
Ariel, wants Jon to lose so bad. The bias is so bad against Jon it’s hard to even listen too. Jones beat Gane the #1 contender. He wasn’t given a 5-10 guy. Tom is great but a wanting to strip Jon and dismiss him is disrespectful. Also Stipe lost to Francis , who hes 1-1 against respect him
How funny is it that Poatan makes history but because he is not one of Snake Weasel Ariel's buddies he down plays his accomplishments and history making fight. Ariel, I like your comparison and agree. Tom Aspinall is like the hybrid of a Cain Velasquez and Frank Mir.
I don’t think Jones should be retaining the belt now while out so long injured after winning only one HW fight against a massively flawed guy, but if he does keep the ‘real’ belt, he has no right to specify who his next opponent is (no champion should ever be allowed to pick his opponents no matter who they are and what they’ve done, it totally and utterly devalues the belt). He should be forced to fight the obvious number 1 Tom next, or be stripped, at which point he regains the right to fight Stipe or whoever he fancies.
People are overestimating Tom after his recent performance. I said this from the very begining. Pavlovich is a chinny one dimensional puncher who lacks athleticism and struggles with movement. Overeem already exposed that fact.
Tom is a good fighter but he needs a lot more experience before he goes up aginst jon jones. If he fights jon now he will loose because although hes decent in every area, Jon is great in all areas and Tom's speed wont make a difference to jon because bones has faced much faster guys at LHW.
Before the fight: "Pavlovich is a monster, he will kill Tom!"
After: "Pavlovich is just a chinny one dimensional boxer lol. His 6 fight first round KO streak was just a fluke."

Stating he should fight Jon before knowing how long his recovery will take plus the fact that you don’t know who will win the fight between him and Stipe which Dana has repeated is still happening. So that means he would be waiting for his next fight and be sitting on the sidelines for a year. That’s not beneficial

Izzy ain't moving up to contend for the 205 strap....if he did he'd be at a huge weight disadvantage same as when he fought Jan. Probably around a 10kg/22 lb difference

Tom should fight Stipe for the UD belt. I don't even understand why Tom doesn't hold the UD belt right now. Like, Stipe refused to fight Pav for the UD belt, Tom stepped up. Stipe hasn't fought in 3 years.
Tom fights Stipe in June, if Stipe wins then he waits for Jon with the belt and a reason for them to fight. If Tom wins then Stipe retires and we have a legitimate champ v champ fight in Oct.
During this you can do Cyril v Blaydes, winner gets Tom.
Considering the UFC is keeping the Stipe Jones for the strap a good card when that happens is having Aspinal fight on the co-main event against Blades or some other top contender especially if there's a number 1 contender fight booked soon for the interim Strap, say between two of these three Blades, Gane and Almeida

Aspinall HAS to face Stipe Miocic next. Nothing else makes any logical sense. If Stipe wins, he can still get his Jon fight. But Aspinall deserves a big fight, and he needs the Stipe fight to build up his name before facing Jon Jones.

Jones wouldn't take that fight, it just doesn't make sense for him and I don't blame him. I personally hate watching fighters take fights in the twilight of their careers against fighters that they will probably lose too, but easily beat in their prime. Jones debuted in 2008, when the 205 division was filled with absolute juiced-up killers. He fought everybody and beat everybody for 16 years. I'll take Jones vs Stipe, then retirement as the GOAT. I don't know why people are obsessed with legends hanging around until they're a shell of their former self. Is it really a accomplishment for Tom to beat a 37-38 year old Jones? Because that's how old he'll probably be if/when they fight. Look at all of the losses Silva took after Wideman.. Bisping, DC, Uriah freakin' Hall. Nobody mentions them for a reason.

I couldn't disagree more. Stipe has been willing to fight this entire time. UFC messed up contact negotiations with Francis and had other missteps with Jon. UFC should've done the trilogy Francis vs Stipe and gotten that out of the way. Too many wrong moves. Then they did Jon vs Gane...Stipe deserves to fight for the title...its not his fault years have gone by cause other people had problems with the UFC

One thing no one is mentioning is how the heavyweight title was in shambles because of Francis.. that’s why Jon and Gane was fighting for the actual title. It would be been vacant for maybe 2 years if that didn’t happen… Jon got injured which is bad but until he looses he still is the true champion
