  • Our visit to Lower Sabie Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park was truly unforgettable. The journey from Orpen all to the southern end of the Park was a stunning drive filled with remarkable wildlife encounters, highlighted by two separate leopard sightings. Our lunch at Tshokwane consisted of leftovers from the previous evening and turned out to be delightful. Arriving at the Sabie River outside Lower Sabie in the late afternoon was quite a relief as we were quite hot and tired. The following morning, an early start rewarded us with even more wildlife sightings, including another two leopard right next to our car. The entire stay at Lower Sabie was a wonderful and enriching experience. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #krugernationalpark #lowersabie

    In three words ... _God's Own Country._ Your videos have done more than the usual tourist board productions in promoting South Africa as a travel destination. Among those who know, and need no persuading, are the many, many South Africans who now live elsewhere - your videos wrench at our hearts, but in that special way for which we say thank you. You keep the flame alive.

    You guys made this lady cry. I am sitting here in British Columbia, Canada on a cold overcast and snowy day longing for my homeland. You brought back many childhood memories of the Lower Sabie section of the Kruger Park. What amazing luck you had during your time there, spotting all of the big five! I have been following you for sometime now and you really fill my heart when I am homesick. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

    No words are necessary to describe Sunset Dam. Spent many hours there being entertained by the late afternoon baboon troop.

    Sho....snorkeling elephants, just loved that. So much going on in this video from baboons, birds and everything possible to a snail. But the highlight for me was the leopards measuring the road right infront of your car...It is wild you guys......just wild Shops are well stocked and the places seem very clean. Now I also want pap and wors...yum

    Hi you two! What an amazing trip again! I loved the shot of the elephants bathing with only their "noses" sticking out to breathe. The leopards were also a beautiful sight to see so up close. The krummel pap made up my mind what to have for breakfast tomorrow morning. Thank you for enduring the heat to treat us with these wonderful views of nature.
    Keep safe!

    Awesome! Lower Sabie Rest Camp has always been one of my favourite camps in the KNP but, because of it's popularity, it is usually difficult to secure a reservation there any time of the year. I look forward to the posting of your onward journey ..... 😊

    I am sure there is an African story of the origin of the holes in the elephants ears. I will research that one. I always loved the Geraldine Elliot stories "The Long grass whispers", and "Where the Leopard passes" which are ancient African stories. Mostly relating to Chinyanja, the language of Nyasaland, which became Malawi (well, sort of!) Interesting enough is the similarity of this language to isiZulu and isiXhosa. So must be of the same origin. Watching the animals makes me think of the animal characters in the stories. Thank you. I think this my favourite episode from our Kruger park tour

    Firstly congratulations on reaching your 24k subscriber milestone 👏
    Your footage has been incredible, especially of the Leopold and of course all the other animals. The KNP shops of the 80s /90s era used to be an affordable experience, today the shop's merchandise seems more geared for international tourists than locals, though the merchandise that is on offer really looks good, especially that Lion Shirt. Nothing better than drinking Lion in the Kruger Park 😊
    That tented safari camp really looks great as does the Mugg n Bean restaurant overlooking the river. Although the communal setup also makes for meeting new people and enjoying my favourite "pap en wors / vleis" with that sauce ...your "kannie dood" fire 🔥 was nothing short of a miracle or the magic of your channel.

    I think you might've missed a nice close leopard sighting on foot the picnic spot. It's a pity you didn't pick up the dropping to feel if it was warm - although I suppose that might've spoiled the visit a bit. :D

    The Baobab is down the closed road. The road does cross the river and rains could have caused the park to close the road. The road ends at the Baobab. It is huge.

    There is often a big pride of lions around Maziti. Also seen + - 1000 buffalo come through to drink there. I'm surprised at how low the water level was.

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Před 6 měsíci +1

      You're correct. We definitely saw less baboons than on previous visits, I'm not quite sure what the reason for that could be. 🤷🏻‍♂️🐒 As for cheetah, we saw them on almost every single Sightings Board, but that was the closest we came. They somehow eluded us. 😞🐆

      I was asking because we thought the tired rd between Skukuza and LS had been repaired already. I'm surprised to see it still down. Enjoying your explicit details. Where dis you buy that (what looked like absolutely delicious boerie) you ate at LS?

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Nope. We asked around at Tshokwane and at Lower Sabie, but no-one we spoke to could give us a definite answer. I think it's most probably along the stretch of gravel road that was closed at the time of our visit, but I'm really not sure. 🤷🏻‍♂️🌳
