Something I recently learned while playing on a Java server is that sugarcane can't be grown with bonemeal and in Java you can't swim across an ocean at the perfect level to not drown like in bedrock
Indeed, there are some gameplay differences between Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, and you've pointed out a couple of them. 1. **Growth of Sugarcane:** - In Minecraft Java Edition, sugarcane cannot be grown instantly using bonemeal. Instead, it requires time to grow naturally. In contrast, in Bedrock Edition, you can use bonemeal to accelerate the growth of sugarcane. 2. **Swimming Mechanics:** - The swimming mechanics can vary between the two editions. In Bedrock Edition, players can swim at the water's surface by holding the jump key, allowing them to travel across bodies of water without constantly bobbing up and down. In Java Edition, players need to continually jump while in water to avoid drowning. These differences arise from the separate development paths and codebases of the two editions. While they share many similarities, there are subtle gameplay distinctions that players may notice depending on the version they are playing. It's always interesting to discover and adapt to these differences, especially if you play Minecraft on different platforms or editions. If you have any more questions or if there's anything else you'd like to know about Minecraft, feel free to ask!

I remember when minecraft on mobile was still called pocket edition Now it’s just bedrock, I still play minecraft on mobile but I play with a switch pro controller
In my opinion, Bedrock is better. The Minecraft Java is considered outdated because it uses the Java language, which is known to be heavy on casual computers. Additionally, some limitations of Java have caused performance issues as new features such as blocks and mobs are added. This has led many players to rely on mods like OptiFine to play Minecraft Java casually. However, using such mods often brings about various functional bugs since they are not native to the game itself. On the other hand, Minecraft Bedrock was completely rebuilt from scratch using the C++ language, which is commonly used in modern games. This reconstruction has resulted in significant performance improvements as it is better suited for this type of scenario. Moreover, Bedrock has introduced new and refined game mechanics. The main obstacle to migrating from Java to Bedrock is the issue of mods and popularity. While Java remains appealing to modders due to its moderately easy language, the community has become accustomed to creating mods specifically for this version of the game. However, building a modpack in Java can be challenging due to compatibility issues between different mod versions and potential FPS drops depending on the modpack's size. In contrast, Bedrock structured the game to support Add-ons (similar to mods) directly within the game, eliminating the need for modloaders like Forge, Fabric, or Quilt. Although Bedrock utilizes the more complex C++ language, it offers a simpler and paid approach to adding mods and textures. However, due to this paid approach, it is difficult to find high-quality free mods available for Bedrock. In summary, while Minecraft Java has been popular for its modding capabilities and dedicated community, Minecraft Bedrock offers better performance and game refinements due to its reconstruction in C++. Although the lack of free mods is a drawback, the native support for Add-ons and the simplicity of adding textures can compensate for this limitation for some players.
