Hey hey, in this episode we explore some of the new painting functionality added to Blenders sculpt mode in version 3.3. Not to be confused with the usual texture painting tools which would require retopology and uv wrapping. But I'll jump into those topics another day :)
bro, i love u thank you
Thanks Keelan! I've been an artist for a long time, but always wanted to try 3D modeling. Thanks to your video series I was able to finally try it and make my first character head in Blender! It was a female character, but I used all of the same techniques as you, and it came out great for my first try! , I learned so much in such a short amount of time. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your content!
these videos are the most useful beginner tutorials I've found, they're brilliant. Thanks man!

Thank you for this, ❤❤❤
THANKS SO MUCH IT S HAVE HELP ME A LOT
thank you !
thanks ❣
thanks!!
Hey bro thanks for this. It's a Gem 💎
Requesting a Retopology tutorial, you do your tuts so well I think I'd learn better from you. Thanks💯
Extremely useful, you don't really need texture painting with heavily stylized models anyway!
I somehow missed this paint feature, and despise UV unwrapping - so thank you!
Oh no i dont see the paint option on my blender, Been progressive learning from your tutorial. Stuck at version 2.9. Finally im gonna upgrade for the sake of learning 3D from you. Im so grateful to stumbled upon your channel. LOTS OF LOVE SENSEI
Thank`s bro!
thanks
I made my character look stupid as a joke but this tutorial is so good that he still ended up looking cool after giving him textures lol
Can someone help me with subsurface color please? its not available in Blender 4.0.1. how can I Do this part, I'm stuck. :(
Thanks a lot! This really helped me get into sculpting just now! Was a bit intimidated at first but you really held my hand so to say! Now i feel a lot more knowledgeable and confident. Thanks a lot! Great stuff! :)
i love your Susie pfp
Teach us how to make the body.
head shape is giving kids next door, i like it
Niceeeee
Thank you very much for the tutorial, are you also going to talk about render settings in the next one or just lighting?
I think lighting in the next one, and then rendering in the one after 😁
Alright, thank you :)
for useful. altough i just couldnt find the paint tool?
hm I have no subsurface color setting for some reason. All settings are there (wight, radius e t c) except this one
I dont have that paint icon. Does anyone else have this issue?
Yes me how did you solve this?
Same what do I do
Never did solve it sorry
This tool only available on blender 3.2 or 3.3 onwards
Hey! Love your content! One question, do you recommend paint it on Blender or it's better to paint it on Substance?? Thank you
I painted my character, but then realized the skin tone was much too light when i switched to another view/ continued on. Now i am unable to go back and edit the color even when i went back to an old file before i went into the color attribute setting! I am so stuck. Any idea what could have happened?
What's the difference between texture paint and sculpt paint?
How do I stop the mirror on the eyes so that they can both look right? since they’re mirrored my character goes walleyed
When I clicked assign for the pupil, it only went in one eye. How can I fix that? Right now my plan is to just redo the eyeball section, but there has got to be a better way lol.
Hey hey ~ Doesn’t this require painting sss texture?
When i open the shader editor there are no nodes there. What have i done wrong..i cant add nodes either x
In the event that I want to export it to use in unreal engine or something , how will the exported textures work
You'll need to learn about retopology and UV mapping if your intent is to use a sculpt for games or animation :)
hmm when I try to paint it wont work, do you know why?
I need help, for the adding materials, I completed everything up to 5:13 and my head is still white. Is there anything I may have checked on accident?
Do love these videos and your models. Have a question. What do you do with your models when your finished? Do you put them in games/short video clips? If so I assume you topologise the models as their poly count must be high? Do you also ever UV Map your models as the materials would be too dense?
Hey thanks for the comment Adam 😁 In the case of this tutorial series I'm just providing some insights into the sculpting tools in Blender, but you're exactly right about retopology, UV unwrapping, texture painting etc for optimisation should there be plans to use these for games/ animation. In my personal work I generally model my characters rather than sculpt, and its mostly for web illustrations, art and as a hobby 😁 I hope that answers your questions
@@KeelanJon amazing yes it does. Your tutorials and videos are fantastic and helped so much but wanted to ask what people do with their completed models just out of curiosity really. Thanks for the reply and answer. You should have a picture taken of all your models taken in one picture like a mash up and hide Wally in there haha
@@indianastilts You're very welcome, and that's a good idea! 🤣
the paint won't work, it's not showing anything when i click on the model can someone help please
Im clicking forward slash and it doesnr work 1:40 . I have a spanish keyboard where the numer seven and the symbol / are on the same button, so it doesnt work
im using blender 2.83, the tool is not there where you show. and when i finally found it it says MISSING UV, TEXTURES. So i guess this is the end of the tutorial for me. thanks, i really enjoy it.
Hey there, yes the painting functionality in sculpt mode came in a layer version of Blender, if you download a newer version you should be fine to continue along 😁
Hi Keelan please help me in my blender there is no paint tool, how do I make it appear?
Make sure you're using an up to date version of Blender
It's under mask now instead of paint I believe
I prefer use texture paint. Or is your method better ?
This is a Sculpting tools series, you'd need to retopologise and uv unwrap if you want to do normal texture painting 😁 In this case, this is a sculpt and is not designed to be optimised for games, animation etc.
hola oye sabes como pasar esa textura a un a un mapa uv
When I go into sculpt I dont have a paint option
Make sure you're using an up to date version of blender 😁
hello guys. Someone knows if i can add a texture after i painted my sculpt like this ?
okei got it. using Mix Shader and control with alpha.
Are U Work On Freelance??
Plz Guide Can i Work On Freelance as lowPoly Characters? Like your videos
I don’t have the option to choose a subsurface color. What do I do? In the subsurface section it just asks me to choose a subsurface method and then weight, radius, scale, and anisotropy
Use a coat menu to replace subsurface color
Does anybody know how to change subsurface color on version +4.0?
Coat option in the same submenus!
When does the next video drop? you are making my school project possible haha
Next Tutorial Tuesday 😁🙌
@@KeelanJon Im not familiar with patreon but do they get videos early?
@@jesusaulloa1653 Hey 👋Patreon is a platform where my followers can support me in exchange for some benefits, in my case I generally offer access to my tutorial source files for those who perhaps would like to explore them a little deeper to help with learning Blender. At the moment I don't provide videos early there, but it's a good idea and something I may consider starting!
@@KeelanJon oh okay! Whatever you decide is good with me! I love your content and support your decisions. Pockets are empty right now but i will be sure to support you in anyway i can! Thank you for these awesome tutorials!
7:30 subsurface color wheel not showing for me
ver 4 changed subsurface controls, i cant do the skin thing, please help
Hi! Pretty good tutorial, but i got a problem.
When I use the paint brush it doesn't paint =(
Should I Unwrap it first?
Hi Guilgerme, thanks for the comment :) In this case we're not following a UV unwrap to texture painting workflow, so there's no need for that. I'm demonstating the new painting functionality in Blenders sculpt mode, which is great for quickly testing concepts before perhaps moving onto retopogologising and UV unwrapping later. If you're not seeing the paint tool working I might suggest ensuring you don't have an existing material on your piece stopping you from seeing your paint, and also ensuring you're in solid view, not material view. Although I explain how to set the paint up in material view later in the video :) Hope that helps!
@@KeelanJon Huh, still doesn't paint for me, weird.
my pupils look weird and refract in the light weird
hopefully someone can help
I'm not sure what happened but I redid my eyes and it worked
Painting doesn't work on my model, I haven't applied any materials yet I can't paint. :(((((((
How make this in blender?
czcams.com/video/AmHD5tp-81E/video.html
i'm sorry but after plugging in the color attribute instead of pink I get Black !!!
Ok for some reason, I had a duplicate item which was over lapping with the current one and was a voiding the material to be shown in view
great lessons, i will use it for my students and create my own tutorial with russian language if you agree. Thank you for tutorials!
I did a stupid thing and joined the hair to the head...
That's okay, you can sculpt it anyway, it's kind of like working with clay :)
I'm using the latest version of blender, but I don't seem to have the subsurface colour option. Do you know what I might be doing wrong? Thank you for the tutorials!
Same here
