- PDP has finally released an Afterglow Wave controller for the Nintendo Switch. The first version of the Afterglow Wave for the Xbox Series X/S. This controller has two versions for the Switch. Let's talk about them, and then we will unbox, test, and set up this controller.

I AM SOOOO GLAD I FOUND YOUR VIDEO! Just purchased today and was super disappointed that they don't even have the user guide for this specific controller on there.
I just picked this up from target due to clearance at $15, i like this controller thx for been a live manual to change colors.

just received this for Christmas.. ended up getting it stuck on just blue as the color and didn’t know how it happened, this helped as i was totally lost

IDK if anyone has said it already but to program the back buttons you just have to hold the button and press the bottom triangle. once its flashing just select what button function you want it to match

There are full instructions, but you have to use the QR code on the back of the box, not the one on the included pamphlet.
My phone won’t register it as a QR code ‘cause it’s so small.

Just got mine today! The "instructions" was annoying haha. The controller itself is nice and sleek though. Thank you for figuring it out because I was at a loss. The code doesnt even take you to a useful site

I do own two budget controllers, but I thought the additional flippers at the back can come in handy. So I bought the PDP controller in purple, but after playing for about 15 minutes it lost connection with the Switch and not long after the Switch froze and this never happened before. I will try to play with it today and if I still experience issues I will definitely return it. For EUR 60,00 it's not worth it certainly not if my budget controller of EUR 25,00 doesn't cause any issues...

@@chr1s415 Unfortunately not, although it does stay linked after you turn it off and on. Very solid controller from what I've seen, though as I've just gotten it recently I can't say whether or not it'll hold up to the test of STICKDRIFT...

You have to hold the blinking button and then one of the back buttons, you can hold the blinking button and press L or R on the controller, or you can do what he did.
I agree, I don't like QR codes but the one on the box itself has all the up to date instructions but you have to download it. I appreciate the help.

I absolutely love this controller my joycon broke (drift) and I'm playing the re-released paper mario thousand year door (I played the original when it first came out way back when) and I didn't want to stop playing it so grabbed this for myself just because of the color changing bit
I got mine today, the purple one and wireless, and they have not updated it yet.

Can someone please help me? When I’m playing this the color pulses no solid colors. And it’s not long before I have to charge it again.
I would think the pulsating color would be less of a drain on the battery. That’s odd.
I know it’s a new controller, but try conditioning the battery like you would a cellphone. Fully charge it then use it until it totally dies. Then charge it fully then one more time use it until it fully dies. Then fully charge it again. That will probably help. My question for you is did you fully charge it when you bought it? If not, that is your issue.

I saw it paired to the Switch fairly easily. Does it reconnect quickly and without hassle on subsequent uses? A lot of third party controllers take FOREVER to get detected by the Switch, and I find that annoying when handing people controllers for multiplayer games.

Mine won’t connect to my switch and I’ve done all the troubleshooting guides for it.
Have you tried using the wire it comes with an connecting it straight to docking station then pair it wirless after ive done this with another that wouldnt pair worked for me

Randomly found out clicking the left joystick well holding the program button gives you a white light
No licensed Switch controller has rumble, Nintendo doesn't allow it.

@@RedBandanaGamingHe's actually correct. I work with PDP Gaming and Nintendo doesn't allow licensed third party controllers to have rumble and NFC. Microsoft doesn't allow them to be wireless.
@@JCGROOVEZ It's also just common sense. PDP, PowerA and Hori are the only licensed companies to make controllers on the Switch. None of them have NFC or rumble. It's mind boggling how people don't understand that. Hori and PowerA both make controllers for Sony and have used rumble many times.

@redbandanagaming I need help trouble shooting an issue with this controller. I bought this controller yesterday same color and wireless on Super Mario 3D, on World 2-2 the section were you need to click on R button followed by tilting the remote to move the cursor to click on certain walls to pop them open to be able to climb them Can you try to see if same happens to you? Im only able to tilt the remote using the Joycon controllers. Im not sure if I need to set it up before been able use it for this level in the game all buttons work on the controller its just that part in the game were I can use the function to tilt the controller to move the cursor.
hello. in your opinion, does the wireless afterglow have motion controls? i was trying to play mario kart and i cannot shake the controller to get the jump boosts. ALSO, no idea how to program the back buttons so that i can see behind in a race. any advice?
This did not have any motion controls. A lot of third party controllers don't have it.
I think I covered how to program the back buttons in the video. If not, you hold the program, press the back button you want programmed and then press the button you want programmed to it.

One question, can the back buttons be disabled?
Are you able to change the button mapping on this controller or does it show up as no able to change button layout?
It’s making some games very challenging.

1. Can you set the peddles on the back to input the D-Pad (up and down) or does it only work for Buttons?
2. Does the Controller remember the saved peddle setting? (since the wired one does not)

No for either. If you had the Xbox version that uses the app, it would have more features, but since there isn't one, the feature set is rather limited. Every time I turn of my Switch, the colors even reset too.
I was going through pressing buttons. It went dark with leds, disconnected, now when I resync to the switch only the analog sticks work. All buttons and dpad are non responsive. Literally day 2 out the box.
There is a drop down menu that pulls up the manual for it

I had this controller but i returned it because with the left stick the game wouldn't move forward
Had mine to 2 weeks and well well well stick drift and i can calibrate it either....
On my white controller the rgb turns off automatically when not being used. On my purple controller it's always on and drains the battery faster. Do you know how to disable this? Thanks for the vid.
Unfortunately not. I haven't seen that issue before. My white one acts just as your white one does. I'm sorry I can't be of any further help with this particular issue.

Can one of you help me get these back buttons off... like there are no manuals for this controller and I don't want to break the clips. The ked lighting stopped working and the buttons on it stop registering to the switch. I here the clicking noise but no actions are happening. I just tried to take the back plate off and am stuck because the buttons are in the way. I just want to hit the reset button within the controller. Why are these so difficult
