    I expect them to trade for an Outfielder but it will be for a rental
    They already have Acuna & Harris locked up and Kelenic's under team control till 2028.
    I expect him to sign a deal at some point too.
    If they trade for an OF that has another yr on their contract, I think it would be cheap

      I agree Kelenic turned out to be a whole lot better than the Braves thought. Kelenic in left , Harris lll in center and Acuna in right ? Try and put together a better offensive and defensive outfield in the Majors. Not gonna happen. And like you said Kelenic will more than likely get an extension. Brandon you hit the nail on the head.

    • @SolelySportsBaseball
      @SolelySportsBaseball  Před měsícem +3

      I agree with that, I also believe it will be a rental player. Pham comes to mind, as does Taylor Ward. 2 options I mentioned in the video. Realistically AA will deal for someone everyones forgetting about and they will go on to double their war numbers as soon as they put on a Braves jersey.

      @@SolelySportsBaseball Anthopoulos will likely shoot down Pham as an option due to his not "team friendly" attitude. There was a player who was shot down last trade deadline due to them not being "team friendly", as Anthopoulos said just that during Braves Fest before the season, as he wants players with high character, and will ask other team members what their thoughts are on other outside players before ever dealing with them. There's reason why Pham had low dollar contract with a bad team after the season had already started, even though he had a solid season last year, along with a good postseason.

    The Three Players I'm watching currently for the Braves to go after are Pederson, Arozarena, and Rooker.
    Pederson for his Past History with the Braves in 2021, Arozarena for his Dire Need of a Change of Scenery (Soler in 2021, anyone?), and Rooker for the Braves' Connections to the A's.
    In terms of Pitching, I think the Braves Solution for a #5 Starter is already in the Organization, but is Working Back from Tommy John.
    Ian Anderson. I saw BOTH of his Rehab Starts in Low-A Augusta and he was LIGHTS OUT, VINTAGE Anderson.
    He cannot return to the Majors Fast Enough.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost Před 27 dny

      Pederson and Rooker are both DH's, and Rooker has had some of the worst metrics in the outfield -17 DRS, -9.0 UZR/150, -15 OAA in 929 career innings, and the last time Pederson got much time in the outfield in 2022, he put up a -15 DRS, -17.1 UZR/150, and -11 OAA in 779 innings, both are horrendous fielders which is why they are DH's.

    The problem with the Braves isn’t the team itself, but the fans expectations of the players. Matt Oldon is around a career .350 hitter and has always struck out at a high rate. Neither catcher has good career hitting numbers as do neither the second baseman or shortstop. The fans are expecting all these players to hit .300 which it’s not their game.
    The organization has in the past 15/20 years developed great pitchers and zero hitters. If your expecting Adam Duvall to hit .275 and drive in 70 runs he wouldn’t be a part time player. The Braves need a revel rouser, a player with a personality that has a edge to it. Whoever the missing link might be, the organization has to be willing to take that risk of failure. Risk is everywhere. They struck out by not pushing for Ohtani. He’s paying for himself buying adding fans, selling merchandise and keeping the team in the public eye.

    I like Pham more than all the candidates that was mentioned I mean at least for this year and the next to be exact. Because with Acuna coming back from his second stint with an ACL tear I don't think he will be 100% come next season either. I mean he's still young and everything but you just wonder if this ACL tear will mobilize his mobility in the outfield and mobility on the bases. I mean he will still have the pop in his bat but I just wonder if this will affect his speed we will just have to wait and see

      @@Mitten4371 Pham has been 94 wRC+ hitter against right handed pitching, so he's hit 6% below league average against right handed pitching which is 2/3rd of the leagues pitchers, while producing a 141 against left handers this year. Duvall has the exact same 141 wRC+ production against left handers this year as Pham, but Duvall is better defensively than Pham, as Pham has a -10 DRS, -7.4 UZR/150, -4 OAA in the outfield this year. Laureano isn't a platoon guy, as his 101/119 wRC+ splits career wise aren't really platoony, it's just that he hasn't been that good overall the last couple years like his was the first 3 years he was in Oakland, but he too is a very good fielder. But the Braves have adjust Laureano's batting stance, and since then he's hitting the ball harder than ever, and his xwOBA of .392 in the majors, and .391 in Gwinnett look great, like a legit hitter again. If the Braves need to look for anything, it's a left handed bat.

    There is no way Pham makes it to the braves clubhouse.Jesse Winker is having and Kevin Pillar are having good seasons , and are cheap rentals. we need one more arm and Erick Fedde makes all sense in the world for me. Bret Rooker would put the braves over the edge but I do not expect the braves to pay his price plus his defense is questionable .

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost Před 27 dny

      Yep, I see both Winker and Pillar as options before Pham would be, but Pillar is somewhat redundant due to him being right handed just like Duvall and Laureano. Yeah Rookies defense is extremely questionable with a -17 DRS, -9.0 UZR/150, and -15 OAA in 929 career innings.

    How about this, TRADE OLSON! The guy cannot hit and I don't care what he did last year. He struck out way too much last year and, at last look, was number 14 in strikeouts in MLB this year. And that was before Saturdays 3 strikeouts and however many he had yesterday. Why was Freddie ever an option to leave. I understand Swanson but not Freeman. Olson is another Dale Murphy. Murphy was in top three in strikeouts almost every season he played. Olson is well on his way to being the same. GET RID OF HIM NOW WHILE YOU CAN STILL POSSIBLY GET SOMEBODY FOR HIM. Even Rizzo is a better choice.

      Braves wouldn’t do that due to the K rate alone. He does have other intangibles. As a spectator, I do hate the high number of whiffs especially when we examine Freeman’s contract….maybe the Braves should have just paid up. Freeman is a very tough out meanwhile Olson has been a K machine for 2 of the 3 years we’ve had him.

    • @MassBoost
      @MassBoost Před 27 dny

      Olson's strikeouts are high due to him playing every day and getting some of the most plate appearances in the majors. But Olson's 23.2% strikeout rate last year was barely over the 22.7% major league average. Olson did even rank in the top 10 in strikeout out of the whole team for the year last year.

    @MassBoost Před 27 dny

    All of those guys are probably bad trades for the Braves. Braves doesn't need a guy who's need beyond 2024, unless he's cheap in salary, like bench player salary, as there's no room in the outfield come 2025 with Acuna coming back, along with Harris at center and Kelenic at left. Pham is the closest to being what they need, but he's right handed, thus he's just redundant with Duvall and Laureano on the team, plus he hasn't been "team friendly", meaning his chemistry with others hasn't been great, which is why he fell to a bad team after having a solid last season and postseason. 1 year left handed hitting platoon bats are likely what Anthopoulos is looking for.
