- The Honda Integra DC2 has always been said to have one of the best chassis' ever to grace a FWD car. Our good friend Al (@alclark) recently bought one to join our sub-200bhp club but we all very quickly realised the DC2 was far too fast and none of us could keep up.
Al kindly chucked Alex the keys to his DC2 for a few laps at Donington and finally we got to see whether they really live up to all the hype...

Reminds me of a time I was in my friend’s S2000, with the top down, on the tail of a Mustang Roush Ecoboost on the straight stretch, just drafting away lol

I’m on my 2nd DC2 now .. they are truly brilliant.
Some one needs to make Honda great again & get them back to producing stuff like the DC2 , ie: legends that people are still talking about 20+ years later
I have a relatively heavily modified FG2 and it is a frickin blast!! Same characteristics as this DC2

Theyll never do that. Between regulation and the "self driving" technocracy, you'll own nothing and ride around in a bubble car that drives itself from your pod job to your pod house and you aren't allowed to go anywhere else. Dead serious. That's the plan.

That Focus has a pretty amazing grip on their Ego.
He probably bought a DC2 after the race.
The best FWD ever made, no argument, nothing comes close.
DC5 was close and even better in come aspects.

@@mehdimohamed6291 DC5 also looks far better haha, its amazing that Honda were able to consistently launch new cars with the Type R ethos. New platform no worries still the same experience.

Usually a whooper in any type of car in my experience. MG drivers are often rolling road blocks.
This is my old car! I drove 150000 of the miles on its clock. Loved it. Glad it’s going from strength to strength 🥰

That Focus looked too stubborn to move, maybe butt hurt that an old JDM legend without a turbo was up his arse! Idiot should of just moved across.
@@SpiritBlueFezST agreed. He had the faster car on the straights but every corner he was back on his ass. If he had just moved over the teg might of got away given how fast he gained on him in the first place
@@baker6928 Yeah I've seen this a lot with track day footage, people with fast cars in a straight line thinking they don't need to move because a slower (in a straight line) car that can out handle them is behind them. I think the Integra would lap a second or two faster than the Focus if it moved.
The trick is, when you realize how to drive it, Its faster then you think.
This. I had a 98 spec itr years ago, and I sold it after a few months of ownership because I didn’t get along with it after owning rwd cars. I drove one again recently, and it just clicked, they’re an excellent car, quick when driven right.

Well being a Honda that takes all of 5 minutes if that. Never have I entered and drove a car for the first time where you felt confident to enjoy it so quickly. Bloody lovely things. Quick shout to underappreciated and pretty much equally as exciting accord type r

7:31 taking advantage of that oversteer to get into the corner like a champ. I get emotional when the driver talks about what the feeling while driving.
Nothing gives you the feeling like an integra. I've owned 3. The look the feel the drama. Best cornering car giving you the feeling like your a race car driver in a circuit even though your just commuting through town.
This has been my dream affordable car since i waa 17, finally got one at 26 and its everything i thought it would be!
In Japan a 3 grade 2 Minion yen , prices going up you bought right time

Good old days racing my dc2 at brands battling it out with cars with almost 100 bhp more. Epic cars.
The stability of this car is insane, in that chicane none of the other cars could hold a candle to it. They way it shifted its weight so seamlessly and at an insanely precise and controlled speed. Wow. The Porsche most likely was the only competition for that car in that section.
It's never that simple. How much of that is down to the respective drivers? How do you know that all the drivers were pushing 100%, or how experienced they were, or how familiar with the particular car they were in? The list of variables is enormous. Even something as simple as tyre choice and pressures make a huge difference... not everyone sets up their road cars for track use.
all older 90's cars had a brilliant feel in comparison to modern heaps. they mandated too much bull shit for a car to be fun now.
Then you haven't driven many of either category. Some '90s cars had better 'feel' than some modern cars, but a lot didn't. Steering feel? The change to electric power steering isn't mandated... it's a choice by manufacturers to improve economy. Whatever else you consider alters the "feel", you haven't specified, but there are plenty of modern cars that feel good to drive and are fun. If you can''t have "fun" in a modern car, you're doing something really wrong. 🙄

@@another3997 I am a racing driver with the FIA license, have hard driven race spec LADA 2109, toyota corolla AE111, honda civic ek9 2.0 vtec on track and Nissan silvia s13 (that one is road legal) and i have the same feeling about modern cars, they feel so boring, on 90's even 80's car you feel them alive and they are a lot more fun to drive just by the fact you are driving the car, not the car "driving" you as you can feel on modern vehicles with all those asists and "eco" engines.
That's why I decided to build my 94 dc4 integra and my friends didn't understand that. while they bought the newer civics. When I finished my build with a h22a euro r red top with a integra type r 4.4 lsd trans the thing is animal and the raw power. The newer civics with k's are nice but they don't got the go kart feeling
I wouldn't say all 90s buutt most modern cars have a lot of tech to make the car less driver involved. Rev-match is one example.
90’s jdm cars were built for hard racers and modern sports cars are built for sweet instagramers.

Thats what happens when honda says they make a car thats track oriented. It actually is. Unlike lots of others. Honda actually touched everything on the car to make it drive like that. Less weight then the standard integra by having almost no sound deadning, thinner glass, thinner carpet, more hp, different gearbox, lsd, stiffer chassis by adding braces, welds and additional metal, different shift linkage and quicker steering rack.
Also the rear suspension is easily adjustable. Much better adjustability to your personal liking. More oversteer without much sacrifices? No problem, just a bit more toe out in the rear. More camber? Just buy 2 hardrace camberarms and its easily adjustable without having to remove a hub and fitting one of your 20 different camber plates.
As a current owner of a DC5, and formerly a DC2...I'd have another DC2 in a heartbeat
Couldn't even believe the title, driving a dc2 is something every car enthusiast should aim for. Its as good as fwd can get and alot of fun
Had my 98 spec for nearly 5 years and to this day, it's as great as it was the day I got it, such a great car

Best car I've ever owned. I pranged mine (terminally) and 10 years on I still regret it weekly. They are absolute weapons. Also, what a bloody gearbox.
This is the reason I adore my own DC2R, you just cannot get enough of it. Its absolutely intoxicating on a level I have never been on before. Ill be keeping mine for life if I can.

I had a Milano Red 96' spec which I regrettably sold a number of years ago. Never saw another one in red in the UK! Beautiful car, to drive and look at!

This reminds me the good old times I had with my DC2! I had the 96 Spec and later upgraded to the 98 Spec! It’s an upgrade of rigidity! A little more torque with a 4-1 header! New final gear too! It’s an absolute monster back in those days! And yeah they can corner really well!

I used to own a crx si and drove it as a summer car. That was the best handling car I had ever driven. Now I own a Porsche 944 and it handles even better, granted it is rear wheel drive. But all and all, Honda definitely made the best handling front wheel drive cars back in the day.
I miss my DC2 Integra GSR so much after watching this! I wanted to do just this. Track tool.

DC2 IMO hit the sweet spot for performance, quick but not So quick you're in danger of a ban every time you floor it for more than are a seconds. Only 15 inch wheels too so comfortable on real roads. Perfection really.

Haven driven an mx5 or s2000 have you? Imo the s2000 is the best stock Feeling shifter. At least from what ive driven.

IT was actually a fast feeling drive until the shot from the celica where we saw the integra turning. That thing really corners is unreal.

If yall follow Keiichi Tsuchiya, he had a lot of track races on tsukuba, ebisu and a lot more tracks in the rain and day, touge races with the DC2 and it absolutely shredded a lot of the competition. N/A, Turbo, you name it. Beat even the ones above its class, its speed on the corners is just too much. Keiichi and their studio made a lot of different modifications too, Mugen, Spoon, Phase, Modulo. Yall should watch it. Search for Miroshi youtube channel. You can watc a lot of dc2 reviews against a lot of cars in its class, and above its class

By strange coincidence when you passed the 306 I remembered when dc2 and 306gti6 met in period racing it was the Peugeot that won but at the time it was a bit newer.
thats true, I found some old articles saying that the Honda is just torque-less. They compared the 306 gti6, ford racing puma and dc2 integra type r. Ofc the 306 was the most comfortable, fun and punchy, matched the integras grip but the integra was more track oriented than B Road oriented like the 306. I've read somewhere that the 306 S16 had better midcorner grip and speed than a wrx from its time,but the diffed 4wd just pulls the wrx out of the corner. Every time someone mentions fwd-> not fast I remember the 306 maxi was faster than the WRC impreza, lancer and escort...
to conclude I would say get the clio 2rs or the 306 a quaife diff and it will hold any fwd

There's a championship white DC5 for sale at a local dealership in Peterborough currently. A smidge under eleven grand. I have to admit, even though I am looking to get rid of my FN-2 Type-R and get something with a bigger lazier engine, I was bloody tempted for a while!

that Celica was Toyota's attempt to match the mighty Integra, didn't quite get there tbh but still a brilliant car for the money. DC2s are not affordable anymore :(
That gen celica didnt hold a candle to the DC2R. It was too soft and its gearing wasnt suited for matching the teg.
