    Growing up on dirt roads and a bicycle is your mode of transportation you learn the value of keeping things clean and lubed early in life.........I've actually installed grease fittings on the wheels of my Adult Bike which has thousands of miles on it and still works like new..............A little oil or grease will save a lot of equipment from the graveyard.

      A little bacon grease bacon 🥓! Especially now in the wintertime it’s good to keep things from rusting and keep a good coat on things.
      That’s cool about the grease fittings on your bike.

      Yes I always think “Oh I’ll make a quick video about oiling the sewing machine!” And it turns into a half hour. But good stuff to know if ya got a machine.

    I have a Consew 225 that I picked up not too long ago. I’m a newbie and just learning. I think this video will help with the oiling of my machine.
    Your video is about as extensive as one can get in the oiling and maintenance of these machines. Excellent video, thank you!

    Jon, thank you for posting this top-quality video! Just last week, I picked up a Consew 206 RB3. I have a servo motor ordered for it. I will also be giving it a thorough oiling!

    Excellent Episode Jon-san!
    Watching this made me want to run out and buy one of those Consew machines. Wow, what a solid build and all the stuff you can do with it. Great to see you take it apart and oil it up. The whole set up with the extra motor and the table you made for it makes it an amazing workshop tool. Thanks for your great work!
    And mark me down for one of your leather bag with the red blanket lining!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you for posting this video, Jon. I oiled my sewing machine after watching it and some of the ports with the pads were bone dry. Also, the top and bottom grease cups were in serious need of new grease. The machine runs much quieter now.

    Great video and very instructive and thorough. I think you only missed one oil point, that is at the very top of the take-up lever. If you look down, inside the slot that the take-up lever runs in, you will see an oil hole for the top pivot.

    If you don’t use the machine everyday..maybe once a week..how often should I oil it?

    • @RightOnJonCrane
      @RightOnJonCrane  Před měsícem +1

      Yes once a week is good. If my machine sits unused for a a month I’ll oil it before using it. If I’m putting in some long hours on the machine I’ll oil it at the beginning of the day. I also look at the machine and see if has oil in the reservoirs.

    I have a 206rb-3

    Any suggestions
    Or if anyone else has any suggestions

      @RightOnJonCrane  Před 3 lety

      Hi Christine, Hmmm 🤔 I’m looking at mine now and looks like it could be caused by a few things. Are you lifting it with your knee or with the lever behind the needle?

  • @bootsupcycledboutique

    I sure would like to know what those felt “plug” that drip the oil are called and where I can get replacements?

    In looking to buy one of these machines all it has on the tag is 206RB now 2-5 behind it. Looks very similar to this one. Has been setting up for about 5 years now. What you think should be done for maintenance side and what kind of price to offer?

    • @RightOnJonCrane
      @RightOnJonCrane  Před 3 lety

      Hi Dylan! These older machines are much better quality than the new Consew machines. (Talking with sewing machine mechanic friends) there is a great video. It’s a two part series on tuning up this machine. I’ll put the link below. It can take a day or more to tune it up but it is worth the effort and plus you get to learn the machine inside and out. As far as price goes. They seem to range between $500 and $1000. I’d shoot for $500 and work my way up if need be. czcams.com/video/y4ACNMX65zE/video.html

    Hi Jon, There are many more small holes on the machine without red paint than there are holes with red paint. Is there some order of importance attached only to the red marked holes. Are the non red marked holes of lesser importance? Thank you for your excellent videos.

    • @RightOnJonCrane
      @RightOnJonCrane  Před 3 lety

      Right On! 👍 Thanks for watching! The red holes are for oil. There are a couple holes that are threaded and they are for a binding attachment. Other than that the remaining holes are for oil. Some of the holes you can follow to the underside and see what part they are oiling. 😃👍🤩
