Saw them at Melbourne Laneway festival, January 2018. About halfway through I hear this guy behind me say "I'm pretty sure we're watching the best band in the world right now". Hard to disagree.
I'm 71 (I think I'm still in my thirties, my body doesn't agree) and I'm happy to have happened on this band recently, I'm late to the game, but then it's never too late to discover something new. Glad I did.
Stay young....number only
You took the words right out of my mouth. I saw these at Glastonbury(on tv). Absolutely amazing band. They restore my confidence in this generation's ability to keep on rocking! By the way I'm 70 . Recently I have bought their last 3 albums... yes it is driving my wife nuts.
Jesus is about to remove his own at the rapture on 9th of Av(b)in our calendar, this would be last week of July in '23...if it is this yr?
25 yrs. Old forever...
Great band who were late to the game themselves. They broke out in 2011 when they were in their early thirties.
37 here and discovered them last summer. This song specifically has become my summer song. I’m also divorced and feel constant pressure on all fronts of my life. Somehow this song reminds me of all the good in my life and how I am thriving despite everything. My ex is very petty and calculating but it is absolutely true. The best revenge is no revenge. I disappeared for a summer and rose from the ashes anew and feel 27 with the wisdom of a 47 year old. Glad you and I have that same youthful energy repute our trials and tribulations, brother 👊🏽
Simply amazing and spiritual. My son says he loves it. He passed to heaven March 13, 2020, and was an accomplished and talented guitarist. I know he loves this...he just spoke to my heart. He's smiling. I miss you son.
Wow, I'm sorry about your talented Guitarist Son's passing away. He's in Rock and Roll Heaven. In the Seven Plains of the Shambhala from what I was taught through my Spiritual Journey and Enlightenment, is that The Seven Plains of the Shambhala are in all Actuality Seven Planets in another Demention where one's Soul goes to, to learn their CHOSEN Profession and hone one's Skills where their is like Minded Souls all trying to achieve a Perfection as much as possible. There's Giant 20 foot tall Crystals on each of these Planets and many of them to Create a Crystal Consciousness. Frequencies are very important in the expansion of the Universe and of Knowledge, Consciousness, And Love. I have been studying this since I was 13 years old. I know that your son is playing his Guitar in what you would call Heaven (That's Ok) Humanity has been lied to about everything, because we're living on a Prison Planet. If you check out The Farsight Institute's CZcams videos you may find out what that means. I recommend getting yourself a Subscription for FarsightPrime.com and checking out Doctor Steven Greer's latest CZcams video. I have been trying to send messages to people who I believe may be interested in trying to prevent the Human Race from certain Extinction! I'm not joking! Right now we're in Check and Checkmate isn't very far away!
❤
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your son. I’m sure he’s entertaining all on the other side with his guitar skills. Peace to you and your family.
Love
A fellow music lover 🎸❤️
Love to you
My 16 year old son passed away 2 months ago....he was learning guitar....he would ask me to listen to him when he discovered a new chord or sound. From one grieving father to another....we had great sons!😢
Drummer Charlie Hall is a BEAST! ❤
amazing how this band sounds together and the audience totally vibes with them 🤩
@@daveevans4874 Umm.. the comment was specifically about the drummer...
I'm 74 and I could watch this until the day I die.
The moment the drums kick back in after the bridge is seriously one of the most satisfying moments in music history for me. This song perectly captures the bounce back period after heartbreak.
Unreal hairs on the back of the neck
now thats a true story and fact...chills after the break .now in my brain forever
Can't agree more, well, just little, the entire track hahaha. And man! The expressions on the drummers face all the way through! He's possessed!!! Hahaha
As a drummer, I'm right there with you.
Yes!!! The adrenaline flows, my head bands, I tap my foot and leg, and let go! Just so amazing!! Seeing them live in February!!!
I'm 6000 years old and I still love the key change in this song..
bahahaha
The drummer mustered up more intensity in 13 minutes then most people have in their whole life. Take. A. Bow.
Right on. You nailed it.
Absolutely, cannot imagine how amazing it would be to play drums in this band,
You got it, he drives that tune into a jam where it sends shivers down your spine.
Locked in would be an understatement.
@@serzhman1436 On a rien compris
If I had only five songs I could listen to the rest of my life, this would be one of them.
Make that three songs.
Thinking of a place is great too.
I'd go 2. The other one?..... That's a harder choice!
It's an amazing track
Agreed
that drummer seems to be flying. Imagine being in that crowd right now not really knowing the WOD and they hear this song for the first time ever, live. The flow, the beat, the words, the emotions then the climax at the end that erupts along with the crowd. May music keep healing my soul and my heart. I need it more than ever right now.
Got the day off, wife and kids not home. House all by myself. Drinking ice cold coke and listening to this song. I'm so happy I got tears in my eyes
well done
Cheers mate!
@Wille You will understand one day :) COVID stopped all concerts and all social activity, so being alone and pretending to watch a live concert was priceless!
I'd kill for that feeling....
Can’t wait until the next time I get to see the live. Best band!!
I'm 79 and I been listening to them for years. Great band.
Possibly the most powerful and emotive live performance of anything, ever.
No U2 at Superbowl 2002 was the most powerful ever!!
I was there for their Glastonbury performance this year, if you haven’t already you should check this song out from there on YT, almost spiritual ❤
@@klausharpoon
Absolutely brilliant version!👌🥳❤
This band is without a doubt the greatest one out there.
And their live-level is mindblowing!
That look on Charlie's face at 7:20. "I don't care what you're going to do guys, I'm gonna hold this beat for eternity if you want!" This guy deserves a gold medal for this performance!
ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!!!
I can only imagine how much musical restraint it must have taken to keep such a simple and steady rhythm going for so long. You can tell how relieving it is once he was able to let go again later by the look on his face/body language
@@salandit7461That took a lot out of him! What stamina though! They are all great musicians, Adam G in my humble opinion is a guitar virtuoso 🎸 ❤
absolutely!! I watch the video just to watch him grind his ass off on those drums!!!
look at him at the 9:08 mark & beyond!!! WOW!!
If you’re not at the very least tapping a foot while watching, check your pulse….you’re probably DEAD! what an amazing piece of art!
Am I the only one who has come back to watching this entire video numerous times?
This and their other Austin city limits version. Both are magical music pieces
Nope, just discovered it 6 days ago, must've watched it 30+ times, much to the consternation of the missus!? 😆
Every Friday night for the last six months!
It`s on loop.
I keep doing it over and over and over myself. Trying to get tickets for the Chicago show in 22. I'm 60 and I'm going to take my 21-year-old son with me if the good Lord's willing in the creek don't rise. I love this shit
I'm 66 was at isle of wight 1970,my children keep me up to date with new music, thank God,that's brilliant
Hope you enjoyed Jimi my friend.
Michael you’re 16 months old now only a wee baby. We listen to this song every day. We used to listen to this song in bed then as you got older I’d carry you around the room now you’re able to walk you bop as the beat kicks in. Mickey, my gift to you is The War On Drugs enjoy forever love Dad.
You ❤ lovely daddy 🎶🍀
Are you happy? You made a grown man cry today
This album deserved the Grammy it received, incredible body of work
I agree amazing ❤
This band is criminally underrated
To You maybe they are….to the rest of the planet…not even close to being “underrated”
Underrated? Because they are not as huge as coldplay for example? But they play in arena's also. They are pretty huge and can go to a store without a bodyguard or disquise and still have a normal life.
Thank god
The best ones always are.
People normally state that a band is 'underatted' when they've just discovered them haha. Certainly never underrated in any way . Their first album was a massive selling record .
I am 70. I will very likely take this wonderful sound to my grave, not a bad idea.
Go and see them in concert once all of this Covid craziness eventually settles down!
Not at all.
respect for you sr ,,,salutes from mexico
63 here Paul.
Just discovered this band a week ago.
Don't know if they've recorded any other songs.
Been busy listening to every version of this number
live and studio 47 times.
I am 80 tears old and like real true country, Vern Gosdin, Gene Watson ,Merle Haggard .Hank Snow [ not the modern so called country,] profound love songs, Garry More, Scorpion. Heard this band on local radio, Radio Devon the other night, they are something else way above the bands that I have heard ,most are just noise, this is class.
Those 14 minutes are worth the whole ticket price.
yuppppppp
I just recently started getting into this amazing band. The first song I heard by them was I Don't Live Here Anymore. That led me down the rabbit hole and I'm all in now. This performance just blows me away. I didn't think they made bands like this anymore. I was so wrong and I couldn't be happier to be wrong!
I am 63 grew up with all the classic and progressive rock.I really thought my music died many years ago.I found this wonderful music so amazing
Same - just started listening to them after seeing them perform on late night a couple months ago. Been bingeing ever since!!
There are so many unbelievable bands out right now. Don't listen to the radio. You gotta dig. Put in the work and you will be rewarded.
Exactly my experience re WoD!
just bought this cd and cant stop listening to it!! amazing
indiana Fire fighter here, this song has found a special place in my heart ! I always think about the crazy calls i’ve been on and the memories i’ve made so far in the service! still remember flying down the road going emergent to a cardiac arrest while listening to under the pressure when the beat drops! Nothing has topped that moment
Pure euphoria. The War On Drugs are actually helping me stay off drugs. No joke best band of all time.
The drummer was in the vortex
Easy there with the “best band of all time” comment lol but they’re definitely a great band
I wish I could do drugs, but I’m in recovery. But this feels good sober too. I can actually hear more of the nuances being drug free. But I miss being high. Great live performance, though. Love this
@mark rowe This band has ironically been there for me as well through some difficult times in my life involving drugs/alcohol. Weird how some things work, huh?
I have taken me pills but fb wont allow me to talk about them poor little pills of mine
Holy jesus what a ride. Goddamn do I miss live music!
Yeah, what a world we’re living in, I’m with ya brother. Stay safe m’ friend, live tunes return, well, soon!
I 've been writing and playing to loop s since march. Cant wait to get out and stretch the legs again
Mee tooo
I do too. Them and Edward Sharp
Well we're probably gonna have to get a jab of the ol corona vaccine if we wanna go to a concert in the future. I ain't gettin no jab. Shame what's become of us, bending over for the narcissist/psych parents/government/catholic cabal.
I'm 62 and this is the first time I've heard or seen these guys. What a beautiful, soulful groove. Thanks for reminding me there's always something new and amazing to discover.
The music gods saved the best for last for me - after 61 years of rocking and rolling… watching all my era fade away and always searching for something new - the greatest band of all time falls into my lap via an Austin City Limits - War On Drugs concert. I feel reborn. Also - Charlie Hall is the greatest drummer of all time.
Same age same feeling, so relieved it ain’t over.
This is the best live performance of this song on the internet. Thanks for uploading and then re-uploading.
That's one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen.
yes incredible
Agreed
Amen..mesmerizing...
Yes!!!
💯
How spiritually badass is that drummer?
@Under the Surface You aren't average if you groove like that specially if you can make a hole festival jump.
@Under the Surface He's actually really good. Looks like Adam lost the 1 when he came in during the breakdown. Charlie was able to recover when the beat kicked in again. It's not fancy drumming, but it's always in the pocket.
@Morgan Bowe bro they're using sequencers and loops and also the drums. I assume you boomer or something?
@@popodopulus3826 the only thing I don't think he's playing live is that sequenced hi-hat/shaker sound, right?
@@GrizzlePaws right. That's a sound from the album
Absolutely superb. Been following this band since 2012 after I saw them in concert in front of less than 100 people.. go figure.
The drummer is awesome. You can see he wants to let loose, but he doesn't, he keeps it nice and controlled.
Picture a fabulous drum solo though 😅
Tightest drummer of all time. His timing is INSANE! He just doesnt miss a single beat. INSANE.
man I was thinking that the whole time.. my arms felt exhausted just watching. incredible.
He’s using sequences/loops.
@@anonymous.7585 there is only a hihat-ish sound thats in a loop. the rest is all him. Also watch other videos. The guy is insane.
I fell asleep but I’ll take your word for it!
He reminds me of "Animal", the drummerbeast on the Muppetshow :-)
I'm 60 And I'm taking my son, who just turned 21, with me to Chicago in 2022 to see the band. Got turned on to them about 5 years ago, there's just something about their music. I can't put my finger on it but that's why I like it so much. Makes me feel.
2.11.22 we’ll be there with you….
Words can't really describe this can they. Simply awesome.
Hands down, Charlie is one of the best drummers on the planet!
Now that's a drummer, play with passion not ego
Exactly!!!!!!!!!
I've watched this performance about 100 times since I discovered it 2 weeks ago
They are at a level above phenomenal.
I'm with You! Just discovered this morning, 07/18/2020 and just wow, wow!!!!!!
Congratulations I’ll drink to that
Haha
Literally the same - I am actually a bit obsessed with....an amazing performence!
Easter 2024 still ROCKING to this version ❤️🙏💐
Thank god someone thought to record this masterpiece
How tight the drums are. On spot. Not a single beat missed. What a band.
Loves the Way He Kicks the Beat Back in Towards the End ! What a Killer Band !
He’s awesome but playing along to a sequencer so it’s like a click. But so much space!
@@sammcnaughton5961 lol
Drummers at this level don’t miss beats lol 😂

The drummer is a human metronome
Perfect
Awesome snare sound!
No, it's the synth. Listen at 3:37 and before, while watching the drummer. Had me for awhile also.
dudes with clear Vistalite Luddys don't mess around
I'll ever forget having the privilege of seeing them in Seattle earlier this year. I wholeheartedly wasn't expecting them to play Thinking Of A Place as it wasn't in their line up, but they played the ENTIRE thing, without skipping a single verse. I've never cried so hard at a concert.. As we let out of the venue, it was dumping snow, which made it all the more magical. I love this band so much. I'm so thankful for their beautiful music.
It's amazing how this music was able to facilitate the experience you had... Something so original and moving, you'll always remember it. Your entire life, it will be with you... It encapsulates what makes life a living miracle. That there exists a thing that a few people can do for so many others which alleviates all of human suffering.
They opened with it in Paris last friday. Amazing song
@@CalmBeforeTheStorm76 I'm sorry that I didn't catch this reply until now! Music is truly a universal movement. Core memories are widely talked about for children, but I believe we receive a select handful as adults and it's the greatest gift of life.
Your dad holding your mom, your baby's first steps, your partner feeling pure joy doing something they love, a butterfly landing on your shoulder etc... We only get so many. I'm thankful that one of mine is crying with hundreds of strangers to such a moving song.
Isn't it amazing the power music has to make you feel something? The indescribable common thread, the raw emotions coming to the surface? Truly divine.
The Drummer is fighting his very own war on drugs
Lmfao
and lost
lmfao what the fuck he's fucking tripping
I think he lost that war on drugs and has succumbed to the trip lol
i feel bad
I admire this drummers performance, you can't get any more than someone who throws everything he can at it.
So true!!!
After watching this video I have a new found respect for Charlie Hall’s drumming and enthusiasm. That guy is fucking awesome and he’s an amazing drummer. Timing is everything!
I was feeling kinda weird at 64 liking this band, but judging by the comments I'm in pretty good company.
I’m 54, their music takes me to another place and makes me cry, in a good way ~ cheers to us “old guys” 🙌🏼
52 here.. I think it's great.. the younger generations go back to music of our younger times and beyond.. we go forward.. it shows we are connected.
it’s the music we long for. This brings me to tears...
64 myself, got a good friend into them and he’s 66....I think we’ve come from an era were we get it, good music will always crossover between generations👍
Not weird at all mate, this is as good as it gets, just think at 64 you've still got exquisite taste in music!
Coolest drummer I’ve seen in a long time!
I feel this song was made to be played at Wembley in the 80's. Beautiful.
I was 72 yesterday, can't wait to get my tickets to Liverpool, awesome, absolutely awesome band, makes you forget all the sh*t that's going on all over the world.
Goosebumps. This song has helped me through many of life’s challenges
I wanna achieve something in my life with this drummer's level of intensity
Has to be one of the best live performances and videos of all time. Not sure I’ve ever seen a band that bonded to one goal
If you have not seen this amazing band LIVE,you have no idea what you are missing!! This was truly an EPIC performance, but they bring it night after night while on tour!!
Just seen them in Dublin 🇮🇪 for the first time, they played this song and my first time to hear it-pure magic, never forget it. ❤🎶
Six men on stage having the time of their life and making our day at the same time!
October 2021, didn't expected to fall down to tears after listening to this version.
The last Live show I saw was in March 2020, since covid started it is the most missing thing in my life.
This song does to me today what Jane's Addiction's "Three Days" did to me in the '90s. DAMN.
I'm just back here to watch this again for the 800th time. gets better every single damn time
Just great can't say much more just great
I'm just here in 9 months later replying to my own comment after watching this video again. On the heels of their new album about to drop. This is absolutely transcendent
Epic. For 13 minutes and 57 seconds I was taken away from all the craziness going on in the country. Good Stuff.
i’m 14 but went to go see them live a couple years ago with my dad. immediately fell in love with their songs. whenever i go on a road trip with my father we always play the lost in the dream album and jam out. probably my favorite band ever
Me too
It is a crime that I can only upvote this once!
first time hearing this band and its the best thing i've heard in years,
You are a lucky person :) Enjoy their albums, they are very very long lasting and get better the more you hear them. A lot to discover, especially if you are a bit audiophile.
Jealous, wish I could experience all their music again for the first time - what a ride!
same here only few years ago
yes this band is a gem
Starting my journey and what a trip 😍
Just bought 3 of their albums including 'Live Drugs'. Sensational.
Making an old man feel young again, kicks me right in the pastries, this is what music should do to you, if God has a stereo I bet he plays this top volume too, it’s my neighbours new tune whether they like it or not, 😊
Buy the sound man a drink 🥃 - Bravo
Hugs from Philadelphia / love & respect ✊
I’ve seen this band play this song many times but this is a special performance they were so into it a true piece of magic caught in time
💯💯💯
Agreed. This is probably the best Under the pressure version out there. You can actually see the song winning over each and everyone in that crowd as it progresses. No fanfare, just pure and utter bliss.
Not since seeing the recording of Santana's epic, almost legendary live performance of 'Soul Sacrifice' at Woodstock have I seen music so transcendental. Thank you NME 2 music for showing an old man like me that gorgeous music isn't dead, it's sometimes just buried. Seek it out and you'll find some of the most beautiful music ever made was made just in the last decade.

I'm here for the baritone player. Just holding a Baritone for 14 minutes is a feat in itself ( heavy beasts), but the sustained playing is something else!
These guys are amazing. Saw them in Ft. Lauderdale. The camera work on this is fantastic.
I almost forgot to listen to this today
I CAN'T STOP WATCHING THIS. This song makes me feel SO UPLIFTING.I would have LOVED to been in that crowd. amazing.
I keep returning to this version. It's my favorite of the many on YT. The extended bridge in the middle... There is just something so pure and damn near hypnotic about it... The long foreplay opening...The sax just gently caressing your temporal lobe... The drummer is just in the zone... Then it all kicks back in... I can't even with how much I love this
Couldn't have said it better mate.
Your summary is right on target. Would love to see these guys live one day when we can do that again.
You aren't kidding. I've loved this song for a few years, have seen the many-many live versions on YT. This had to be a special night or something. This is the : Under the pressure 'pure indulgence' version.
gotta go see them once or twice in my lifetime! Epic!
same..what a ride!!!!!!
These guys are amazing I am a lover of music. I do custom audio on video installations and peoples homes for over 50 years. I saw them in Fort Lauderdale about 2 1/2 years ago. The video that mustard did was amazing it’s like 4K. Let me know when you guys are back down here again, you are well underappreciated throughout the world. Thank you guys so much.

Man, this band straight up fully performs the songs. All the synths, everything. I'm endlessly impressed by TWOD. Seriously captures so much of how i feel in music form
Saw them in aug 2022 in Toronto and holy moly this song was by far the highlight of the night.

This has become one of my favorite tunes ever ….❤️❤️
Still the best thing on the internet.
I wouldn't have cared if the song lasted more than 20 minutes ... it still would have felt too short ... this is called Music Art
That was wild. Unbelievable. I have goosebumps.
What an incredible version of this great song!
This is what happens when a band is full of talented musicians! Amazing!
It's so chillaxed and killing at the same time
